Personally, I agree. While making things is fun sometimes, just buying all the material would quite likely be more expensive (by the time postage is included) One thing I have considered though is the belt sander. A good narrow belt handheld is crazy expensive (between $600 ~$1000 with ability to do round, odd curves or fillets) For flat or nose radii they are cheap enough but 'slack belt' gets very expensive (way more than I would pay for limited time it's actually needed)
This is not a hack. This is very creative engineering design and execution. The base plate is such a brilliant idea making mounting everything possible.
You're right, this is not a hack. It's a very creative way to get yourself killed. Angle grinders spin at ludicrous speeds. Thousands of people regularly go to the ER every year, because the fibre cutting disk - that is specifically designed to work at those speeds - exploded in their face. Guess what happens, when your jerryrigged contraption with a belt - that is definetely not designed to run that fast - can't handle the insane speeds and forces and just blows up.

I had a lot of old pipes and rebar to cut up and from what I read th-cam.com/users/postUgkxPDBfLu68o58Aw85O_J-zIFfjJARBhp-3 this would be the tool for the job. Since I had never used one, I watched a couple of youtube videos and I'm so glad I did. Some really good safety tips, which I followed, and this tool did a splendid job. One good thing to know is the weight of the tool puts just about the right amount of pressure on the metal I was cutting, so I didn't have to use a lot of pressure, which is more likely to jam the tool. It made fast work of my job.
I have a grinding machine, and I would like to modify one side of it similarly to how you did with the angle grinder in this video. Could you acquire and modify such a machine? You do very professional work.
Спасибо за ролик. Такое проще и быстрее купить, но смотреть как Вы работаете - одно удовольствие. Не подскажете где покупали и как найти такую модель пружинного керна, как уВас?
Great ideas, thank you. I would avoid cutting aluminum with a grinding disc in my shop. as aluminum dust can cause alumiosis. I would cut, grind aluminum outside. Thanks for sharing.
Much lower cost? That's a disputable statement. I mean, yeah, if you don't have anything else to do in your life, you can spend a lot of time - Labour, and money to buy the tools, materials and ancillaries to make all these "hacks". But before that, you need to have spent a few hundred hours in a shop to acquire the craftsmanship skills. All these are the definition of false economy, not only because of all the above, but to actually use them when you need them, you need to faff every time unscrewing and adjusting things to get the tool you want. Unless you are the guy who is making these videos, because then you are making money out of them. These ideas most certainly are ingenious and the definition of engineering design, but they are impractical for production which is why you don't see these "hacks" in real workshops.
If you were to combine angle grinder stand idea with the linear bearings slide you had in the other video, it would be like a compound sliding saw with the angle grinder.
angle grinders and bench grinders are terrifying to use. Something can suddenly become a deadly projectile with them things or suck your hand into their wheel.
Всегда было интересно, сколько уходит денег на такие вот полезные и "дешёвые" приспособления. Кто нибудь посчитает когда нибудь? Чтобы учитывать весь парк инструментов, деталей, расходников и материала? Например, на этом видео?
Gee clever took the guard off and made a guard.. who woulda thought a guard would be a great hack.. they should do those in the factory.. let them know.
It is always hard to believe for me in those "hacks" as soon as for making new parts isn't used previous hack. Why for sanding elements for "sliding cutting jig" weren't used a sander from the beginning?
during world war two the enemy made bullets of bamboo. While the gun shot might not have been fatal the wounded soldiers suffered and died of the infection because the wood broke up into thousands of splinters. NEVER make spinning devices of wood!
This is a really naive approach The guide will be ground as you're cutting what's underneath, and it will get less and less precise each time. But it's not like anyone is going to actually build and use this.
what makes you think you have the right to prevent me from expressing my opinion? are you an engineer to certify these hair brained designs? will you pay the expenses when someone is injured be cause of faulty and unapproved modifications?
Яшидо хороший мастер и хороший инструмент в его руках делает полезные приспособления😊

This video convinced me that going to the shop and buying a tool is cheaper.

it is NEVER a good idea to add homemade devices to a hand grinder

Angle grinders are for grinding. Stop making useless and dangerous things. Go buy a belt sander and a lathe.

If your this clever. Why haven you figured out how to be rich by now. Then just buy the tools.
