    I wish they would sell like a $5-10 mini expansion for the original that adds the variant tiles. I like the idea for spicing up the original Azul but I don't need the chocolate theme.

      There could just be an overlay (maybe like the crystal mosaic material) for the original factory tiles that displays the gameplay variation.

    Azul is my sister's favorite game so I got her a copy of this chocolate version for Christmas. She was very excited when she opened it.

    Definitely prefer the chocolate version. I skipped Azul when it first came out because 'abstract with mosaic tiles' was just 'meh' to me. The way the pieces actually look like gourmet chocolates pulled me in, and it ended up being one of my family's most played games last year.

      I agree with this. The presentation of the Chocolatier version isn't as bright and vibrant as the original, but somehow I just PREFER the darker, richer colors. Since I already own Azul Mini, if I end up buying the big boy, it would be Master Chocolatier. The factory tile variant also makes MC more appealing to me!
      Really glad to find someone else who agrees because most people seem not to!

    I really struggle with this one. Azul means blue in Portuguese. If I owned this, I would refer to it as "Blue: Brown edition"

    I am definitely the market for this game. I love chocolate, especially elegant chocolates and I've been putting off getting Azul because every time I look at the cover the busy & bright oranges give me an unpleasant sensation of visual clashing. So, I like the Chocolate Edition better and am now looking at buying a copy. But I definitely understand that there are those who like intense warm colors, not saying one is better than the other, just saying that I do believe there is justification for a market for both.

    I have 3 different versions of Patchwork just cause they're pretty and the added variety is nice(even just visual; though different pieces would be better); so I get the appeal of re-skins. Don't have Azul and I don't particularly care; but I'm happy to see more games releasing alternative versions when it makes sense. I doubt this is going to be a big trend but still.

  • @codym6376

    I do prefer the bright color tiles but if they sold the alternative tile holders in the standard artwork I would order that from their website. I could probably make them but don’t really like doing that kind of project.

    Disappointed they kept the score track at the top of each player's board and not do a separate score board like the other Azuls. One nudge and you lose your score, very annoying.

    • @andreabuzsaky56
      @andreabuzsaky56 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think it's because this way the Crystal Mosaic overlays are compatible with it.

    • @pnpgutterfold
      @pnpgutterfold 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, it's poor game design to have the scoring tracks look like that with tiny, lightweight cubes without any kind of indentation. I had a really bad experience with Terraforming Mars (so much so that I stopped playing completely after just two games) because the player boards were so bad. That's why the only version of Azul I own right now is the Azul Mini.
