I was homeless for a couple years as a teen. Mom had a new boyfriend who sold drugs and abused her. He didn't like me and he 'convinced' her to put me out when he came along. Sleeping in abandoned houses, parks, looking for a place to clean up, or go to the bathroom, where and how to wash your clothes....daily struggles. 30 years later, I own a home, have a husband, and me and mom have a pretty good relationship. (the deadbeat guy is long gone) . I learned a lot about life, a lot about myself, while out on the streets. It's an experience I wouldn't change, because it made me the man I am today. But boy, was it hard.

I lived homeless for 2 yrs. I actually met my wife 4 yrs ago while I was homeless. We talked and had dinner a few times. I even tried to talk her out of associating with me. Thankfully she was hard headed and got me off the street and gave me a second chance at life. We have been married since. This October will make our 4 yrs anniversary. I can honestly say with no doubt she saved my life. I was not on drugs or anything. Just got put out by a cheating wife and had no family.
So happy she trusted her instincts and saw you as the good human being you are. Some people think poverty and struggle equals low morals, laziness or some other bull sh. Instead of a lot of reasons, personal and societal. Good luck.

So this is a month old: Look, when this song came out I was stationed in Tennessee (101st ABN). I remember, we went to Nashville to see them perform (1998 I think?) and I remember this band referencing themselves to either Everlast or Whitey Ford. I remember when there was a mosh pit that started, he stopped it. He just was different from when we saw him from the House of Pain days. No disrespect to him, it was just a different type of performance. Good review man, just thought you would want to know some real shit.

i work at a grocery store on the main street that most of the homeless folk in wichita are. there is some shoplifting that i simply ignore.
