Great vid as usual! Btw, NHRP only works on GRE since GRE is “Generic” and doesn’t only carry IP (unlike VTI). Cisco’s implementation of NHRP (which is a standard of its own) is at the layer 2 level of the standard (I believe you can get a layer 3 implementation also but i have never dived deep into it) so there is no IP headers to work with... basically the long and short of it is, that GRE is fit to carry the NHRP protocol due to is “Generic” multi-protocol nature.
I came to the video looking for answers on why in my LAB scenario, Flex Server was unable to encapsulate NHRP packets between spokes when using IP encapsulation. Your comment saved me a lot of head scratching and time-wasting looking for answers. It somehow forgot the difference between GRE and IP encapsulation. Thank you kind Sir.
