    I used to collect the BEST episodes of People's Court with Judge Wapner, I had almost all of these cases in this video on old VHS tapes!

      My wife and I attended an afternoon taping of cases in Oct 1988. We were in the audience when there were 3 old lady defendants and one of them called Judge Wapner "Honey".

      @@brentgindelberger8851 OMGGG I remember that one!! And the lady who said it realized what she just did and they all giggled! Wow I can't believe you were there. I too went to a full day of taping for the Judge Judy show in 1998....it was pretty cool, I saw myself on TV, and the clip of me in the audience aired on 20/20 on ABC.

      @@CoopyKat We were on our honeymoon. During commercial breaks we got to talk to Rusty. It was a year or so after the famous Popcorn machine episode where the father was talking back to the judge. Rusty referred to that guy as a "jerk". We asked if we could meet the judge. Rusty didn't think so, but during a later break he motioned for us to come behind the bench and we got to shake his hand!

      @@brentgindelberger8851 That's pretty cool....I so remember that popcorn machine guy - and get this - I saw that popcorn guy in a Ralph's Supermarket here in LA about 20 years ago. He was acting very obnoxious, was with family I believe...he made me nervous so I didn't go near him because I can tell he likes to get attention everywhere he goes!

    I don't recall seeing Judge Wapner get so steamed. 2nd case: Even back then there were litigants saying that yes, they have evidence, but not with them. He has no evidence and blames the judge. Take his word for it that he's going to pay his friend to borrow his car. 🙄Sure.

      Seriously! In case anyone didn’t know, Judge Wapner’s parents were immigrants to this country. I myself am a child of immigrant parents too. And I am not going to say that it was rainbows and sunshine for them and their struggles but they came here, learned English and worked hard! And they taught us to preserve our culture but love and respect America at the same time! RIP Judge Wapner. My good childhood memories include watching your show after school everyday! You were straight to the point, matter of fact and no nonsense! Not even Judge Milian can compare to you although she’s wonderful as well. She just has a different approach for today’s world. It’s generational differences as well.

      These shows were/are under strict time guidelines for production. They shoot many in a day. These judges only work several days out of a month and may shoot up to 12 hours worth of cases in a single shooting day so they have to keep it moving. The Japanese man should not have accepted the invitation if he did not know the law and the procedures of court. I have seen both Judge Judy and Judge Marilyn go Far Harder than this on people.

    • @ponekingpetch3595
      @ponekingpetch3595 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly and the judges often fly in from the east coast to LA to do this as you indicated two or three days a month with an extremely heavy shooting schedule. The Japanese fellow had no idea of what he was doing and came in completely unprepared with no evidence: no receipts, cancelled checks (shows you how long ago this was pre internet and online bill pay) or paid bills. The judges get extremely irritated as they feel their time and production schedule is being wasted when this happens as the litigants are informed beforehand of what they need to bring to court in order to substantiate their claims.
