- Wilbur and Orville Wright operated their Dayton, Ohio, bicycle business out of this building from 1897 to 1908. The brothers sold and repaired bikes, and even produced models under their own brands. It was also in this shop that the Wright brothers built their earliest flying machines, including the 1903 Flyer that became the first successful heavier-than-air, powered, controlled aircraft.

Season 1 Episode 4.
It’s crazy I’m from Macomb Michigan so greenfield village is about an hour from me but I absolutely love going there and into the write bothers bicycle shop, the second you step into the shop and hear nothing silence, and you just smell the oldness of the building and seeing all the original wallpaper and thinking to yourself that the write brothers actually worked in this building at one point in time and walked on the same floor and touch the same counter ❤️💯 truly amazing
It always gets my goat when distances are referred to in football fields.....not everybody knows much about football, in fact few of my friends do.
The original.bicycle shop over in Dayton was merged with the Dayton gm plant then after gm shut down the plant they tore it down and put in a loves gas station that’s what my grandfather and uncle told me my grandpa said that when he worked over there at the gm plant in Dayton they used the bicycle shop as a storage unit.
Hi I like your video!
the Wright brothers plane was also moved to the Henry Ford museum
It would have been much better historically if they had a copy of Penaud’s toy 1870 helicopter that was powered by a rubber band since it was the Wright Brother’s actual toy of 1878 instead of the video’s shown propeller on dowel device - the Penaud helicopter did not look like this at all. Orville Wright actually drew a sketch of the Penaud toy. History should matter especially in a museum dedicated to the Wrights.
Uh, Mo? I'm being pedantic but the Wrights "pioneered" powered manned flight, not manned flight. Sorry.
And, yes, I know they also did unpowered flight, but they are known for the powered sort. Again, sorry for being a rude guy. Love the videos.
Yeeeeeeeeet
🤙
What brand bike parts are on the shelves behind the front counter? Can they be purchased somewhere?
I can almost read the box, lol
@@davidloyacano2374 What you mean to say is that you like the graphic design of the boxes. I m sure you wouldn t base your purchase of a bike tube on 120 year old technology.
Dude releases a flying projectile in a museum 🤦
