If there's one thing I learned from this game its prioritizing not just in battle but during exploration. For one, treasure since they are FREE (items, equipment, vice versa), two, sidequests, grind to get ahead of the game, three main story, do not progress to fast or else you will miss most details and etc..
One more thing, worry about all the lore at the end of a gaming session. The game can become overwhelming as you progress so better to keep a clear mind before rushing in.

I actually recommend going in a circle despite battle level. Wonderland first, then Deep Jungle, Olympus Coliseum, and then back to Traverse Town. This way you are leveled up more and have Cure for the tournament.

Love first play through I remember kids in my grade telling me bout this mysterious game of a boy with a key blade that goes to Disney worlds and you save them I was 8-9 ish in 2001and it was amazing to experience this game for the first time I never beat it until about 7 years ago and I’ve now beaten and 100% on every system it’s came out on both kh1+2
This franchise has so much nostalgia for me. I grew up on Kingdom Hearts and always love finding a first time playthrough haha. As for Cloud he's always shown to be looking for Aerith in just about every form of media he's ever appeared in. Don't know if you've played FFVII or know the full story or not so I won't say more just in case haha. Looking forward to more!

And also- you should probably watch the original Unchained X cutscenes around the time after 0.2, then watch UX Back Cover, then play 3 to have it make the most sense. Have them play kh1 on proud. As a new player you can laugh at them while they die repeatedly to guard armor 😂 It is too easy though. I always play on proud because of that but it’s got some good challenge to it
