I think that even if they didn't reveal it, they show that they hold such a platonic love for each other, and how uncomfortable they felt when they have been exposed by the shipping between them, because they have seen them and probably are trying to distance each other, so they don't create any more rumors about them, the fact that they have become less close with each other, that they no longer have the friendship they used to have, I think that the shipping, has something to do with that change in their dynamics, and I don't blame them that their relationship may have shifted or become less intimate because of the rumors that have surrounded them. Imagine someone making an assumption about their relationship, about how that they are a in a relationship when they are in fact just friends and good brothers to one another. how would you feel. You would feel uncomfortable knowing that the person you have been close with, your actions towards them are misinterpreted by the public, and that too some, their affection towards them is something more, than it actually is. So, if they have drifted apart partly because of this and also because of growth over time between them and how their personalities might have changed and thus, also impacted the dynamics, then I understand them.

I don't think they're lovers. It seems more like a brotherly bond. Sometimes, playful interactions or things like swollen lips could just be exaggerated in the moment, and JK singing in the background doesn't necessarily indicate anything romantic.
