I had my son about a year ago and yes, it's quite easy to forget yourself with all of the work a baby requires. Nurturing your own interests or expressing your aesthetics are wonderful ways to maintain who you are as a person, not just a parent. Don't forget about you. Okay, I’ve been in a total Regency era vibe lately and JUST set down my copy of Pride and Prejudice for a TH-cam break, only to see this Austen-esque video literally just posted! How magical ❤
For sure, the soundtrack for the 2005 version of P&P helped make it so iconic. I literally got shivers when the music started @ 8:46. I love that soundtrack so much!!
Pride and Prejudice always makes me think of my high school AP Lit class. It was with a wonderful woman, I adored her, she was truly a wonderful teacher and you could tell she enjoyed it. P&P was one of the books we read and I remember, right before we started she pulls out this towel and goes, "It's one of my favorite books," and on the towel is the first either paragraphs of the book, or the entire first chapter. That part I am fuzzy on. The book also sparked a lot of really good conversations, especially as the 2005 version was only 2-3 years old. One of the guys in our class was mad at the movie! Haha! He said the "screaming in the rain" was not Austen, that it was "some Bronte shit" (we were allowed to cuss in her class if it was relevant. This made her so proud, because from a literary point, he was right. A critic at the time even called it, "The Brontification of Austen." Thank you for sparking that very random, but also very dear to me. This was so lovely. Thank you for taking us along the way. You're really inspiring me to like Spring, it's never been my favorite season, because where I am from, it's just awful and wet (Alaska breakup season) and everywhere else I have lived, it always felt like Spring was a moment long and then went directly into god-awful too hot to enjoy Summer. Thank you.

For all Austen fans, I highly suggest the 1995 BBC tv show adaption of Pride and Prejudice, it's usually less known than the 2005 movie but it's so good!! The costumes, the English countryside, it's sublime and also very true to the book, I rewatch it every spring❤
That's my favorite book adaptation ever! I enjoy the 2005 adaptation, but it's truly a Brontë-d up version of P&P. If I'm in the mood for the Brontës, I'll just read the Brontës 😅
The main characters are superb, but David Bamber as Mr. Collins and Alison Steadman as Mrs. Bennet just steal the show for me. It's a regular watch for me and the best version IMO.

Currently, I'm out in Berlin to support my grandpa with saying "farewell" to 2 of his friends that passed away just a few weeks ago. He is in his Hotel right now and eating breakfast, I'm at a cafe and doing the same. Just romanticizing my life being somewhere else, but ya, this time it'll be being with Anne of Green Gables, chatting away in the morning, sitting outside having a picnic with hot tea, freshly made chocolate chip cookies and lots of warm blankets, overviewing the foggy fields, birds chirping and hearing animals in the background. It's been storming in California so much that certain parts are flooding. Every time it has rained, I have made an effort to go out and take a walk or sit in the garden and enjoy it. If it's too bad outside, I open the windows, drink my coffee and watch a Ghibli movie. It's magical

A helpful tip for when you're crocheting with a magic ring is to crochet over the tail of the ring as you go! This ensures that when you're done, you don't have to sew it in with a yarn needle, don't have to tie a knot and it lasts longer that way! I loveeee learning about history sooo much! I often find myself reading real sources and extracts. Recently I “binge” read a few diary entries of teachers working during World War One in Yorkshire. It’s amazing to be able to feel others’ stories and lives and to let them live on in history. I’ve also recently completed all, but one, of my exams for History. But, I don’t think I’ll ever stop loving learning history! It’s also great to be able to learn the history that doesn’t get taught in the curriculum: the history of the Islamic Golden Age or the Mongols or Chinese Empire etc. It’s just so interesting and exciting to be able to delve into another world and explore things that are no longer common in the modern-day society. ❤❤❤❤Keep learning History! Hehe ❤❤❤

I'm 53 now and I adore your videos. I battle depression and anxiety it keeps me isolated a lot. I've never thought about treating myself kind or romanticizing things. I've just been in survival mode. I will start practicing and hopefully learn to love myself the way I love my daughters.

I just read Ursula K. LeGuin's poem "to the rain" the other day, and I thought it was relevant to this video. It's a very pretty poem and I think you (whoever you happen to be, reading this) would like it. The first two lines are "Mother rain, manifold, measureless / falling on fallow, on field and forest," to give you an idea of how lyrical and pretty it is.
I just started this video and already don’t want it to end. I came to LA for the winter because I’m from Chicago and was hoping for sunny days. It’s been raining here most days, but this is inspiring me to enjoy the rain and appreciate the cozy days and green and flowers that it will bring. Thank you for what you do, Desi. This might be TMI, but my depression has gotten worse. Your videos bring me such a peaceful reprieve from the feelings of gloom. There are probably more effective, more recommended remedies out there, but until I find them, you videos help me a lot.
It's been storming in California so much that certain parts are flooding. Every time it has rained, I have made an effort to go out and take a walk or sit in the garden and enjoy it. If it's too bad outside, I open the windows, drink my coffee and watch a Ghibli movie. It's magical

A helpful tip for when you're crocheting with a magic ring is to crochet over the tail of the ring as you go! This ensures that when you're done, you don't have to sew it in with a yarn needle, don't have to tie a knot and it lasts longer that way! You can still pull the ring closed even through all the extra loops!

I loveeee learning about history sooo much! I often find myself reading real sources and extracts. Recently I “binge” read a few diary entries of teachers working during World War One in Yorkshire. It’s amazing to be able to feel others’ stories and lives and to let them live on in history. I’ve also recently completed all, but one, of my exams for History. But, I don’t think I’ll ever stop loving learning history! It’s also great to be able to learn the history that doesn’t get taught in the curriculum: the history of the Islamic Golden Age or the Mongols or Chinese Empire etc. It’s just so interesting and exciting to be able to delve into another world and explore things that are no longer common in the modern-day society. ❤❤❤❤Keep learning History! Hehe ❤❤❤
