My friends were all counting on me to make a helmet for a school project, and I wasn’t sure how I was supposed to make one, so thanks for this tutorial! 👍
It would increase the weight a lot, but you could cover the whole helmet in something like wood filler, or even air dry clay in a thin layer, which you could sand once it cures and you wouldn't be able to tell its cardboard after painting. This is a cool little project, but that little bit of extra detail and you wouldn't know.
It might be a bit much to ask, and I don’t expect you to do it, but some measurements would be awesome! Really cool skills you have, keep up the good work.
Wow! What a great build! simple yet amazing and the paint job looks realistic, I can also see the effort in researching the historical accuracy of your build. I know that I say this all the time but keep up the good work and I'm looking forward in watching your future videos.
Ah thanks for the heart. Also, if you could make a remake of the video, showing the measurements of the parts used, that'd be great. Currently very hard mapping it out and getting all the parts to match up.
Bewildered at how you only have 3k subscribers, there’s no doubt your gonna blow up, these tutorials are great! (Though measurements on screen would be a w e s o m e)
I love this! I want to make this out of a 12 can mountain dew cardboard box, though im not sure if it would be enough, could you possibly tell me the dimensions (or estimate) of how much card board you used to make this please!
Totally!! you would need at least 5 plates of cardboard that are 7”x10” that’s just and estimate also take your time and your everyone’s head size is different to make sure to take measurements
This is very cool and I love it, but I have one question, after you glue the seems in the beginning how did you get the edges from a right angle to a smooth circle shape?
I’m sorry it was confusing. I like to use single layer cardboard to make helmets because it’s easier to bend. You can also use foam board. Also, papier-mâché helps with smoothing over the dome over the head.
Use your own head Start off by making a single ring of cardboard to fit around your head and when that Glooze together it should easily be able to fit around your ears comfortably and top of your skull that’s how you start off with every helmet build
Hey yoyo was curious: what were the dimensions of the helmet backing at the beginning? I'm trying to make my own version but don't want to screw up the measurements.
Make sure to add supports wherever you know you’re going to place the strips.. always remember just assume you’re trying to build build a bridge out of wet paper…
If you spend every weekend and ounce of free time yes😂 but it really shouldn’t take that long. If you do that it will be done before Halloween. Remember don’t over engineer the simple armor pieces
@@MarksWorkshopcrft thanks dude! This vid is crazy helpful and I can’t wait to make one. It’s great to see some historical accuracy on here instead of the crazy fantasy stuff. I like both but I’m a sucker for medieval realism

It take lots of practice and just smooth working try building swords and other cool things like body armor before your do a helmet I always had trouble making helmets but I now have experience!

Well, the head diameter is 24 inches if that helps and the visor is 18 inches wide and 8 inches tall and then it tapers to each pin
You could sell patterns. Or even finished product.
Amazing.
Hey, this is pretty good. Not to complicated, hella nice looking, and it has a moving visor, great work man!
I’m so glad to hear that , that’s my goal, to try to make these builds as least complicated as possible
I sub to Mark for having one of the sickest helmet ever!

Love this, might add some strategic tp paper mache to some areas for a textured rust effect
this youtube chanlle has been with me thought thick and thin i love this guy
Sorry about the ear rape intro guys, I’m trying…..😂
0:38 It seems you have added extra cardboard on the sides. Do I just use the extra cardboard from the beginning to make those pieces?
Yes sorry for leaving that out
after making one horrendous looking helmet i made another one that looked just as good as the one in the video, thanks dude
Could you show us how you did the extra pieces on the side of the helmet 0:38 plz
Thanks for getting straight to the point brother!
I dont know how but you made it look so easy
You helped me create one for my kids first ever cosplay! Thank you.
Awesome!
Yooo time to bust out my father’s cardboard box collection that he keeps handy for times just like this! Thanks for saving me I-don’t-know-how-much!

Sir Dew
You could always do it with thicker cardboard as well and than later the thinner mountain dew box cardboard on top of it!
Great video
Imma build this
Same !!!
INCREDIBLE.
i was planning to make a medieval costume for my friends birthday and i cant find a helmet, thank you for the tutorial!
Can you give me the Blueprints of the helme?

Hi Mark Just got started on the helmet today waiting for the paper mache to dry
I had some trouble making this, I don't know the measurements, what type of card board, etc, its not your fault it just it a little confusing

Maybe at 1m subs

Short hinge screws so they don’t stick out too much u could also use a wooden dowl rod

I typically cut all of my boxes up by the squares/rectangles and then organize them save up your boxes any cardboard will do for this build
