They were defeated. In WW2, Turkey was again an ally of Germany and is now a supporter of Gaza and the terrorist organisation responsible for the conflict there. A 'white poppy for Gaza' is an insult.

The only poppy i will ever wear, is that of a red one, issued and sold by the Royal British Legion, not only to commemorate V.E. day, but to give recognition for all those whom have served in our forces and those who currently serve 24/7, 365 days of the year to keep our nation safe. My own Grandad served in WW2, sadly he passed away in 1995 but I'm sure if he was still here, he'd be ashamed of these people who have no respect for those who fought for our freedom and the liberty we all enjoy today and take for granted.
