It's just the way it is though. Jinyoung represents how you can enjoy food in your life without ever feeling ashamed, as long as you exercise appropriately to match what you eat. Just awhile ago media made it seem like you have to starve yourself and never enjoy good food to be healthy. But we all know that's not true, and media is reflecting that. If sunyoung wants to continue enjoying food she has to get healthier.
If you've seen enough of these videos you would realize that sunyoung isn't eating healthy at all. Her diet is not balanced at all and she consumes too much junk food in one sitting. Nobody is calling her out because she is fat, people are calling her out because her routine is simply just extremely unhealthy which led to her being overweight.
Every time I see the thumbnail for a video of these two sisters notice the difference on how they are presented. In this one the slim sister is shown chewing with her mouth closed with little animated stars above her head and using chopsticks while the curvy sister is shown eating a big chicken(?) leg with her hands with her mouth wide open. Why is that? What’s the point? They want to humiliate one for eating just as the other? But just because she’s bigger she’s shamed for eating?? That’s so disrespectful. They are both beautiful. They are both talented. Some of the comments mention how the slim one loves her sister and all this and that, but shouldn’t she against the way her sister is treated? Maybe she has spoken about it and I don’t know, but maybe until someone says something to these producers things will change.
Sadly, I think they both know where the money lies in Korean entertainment. They know viewers watch them for the argumentative dynamic and to watch the contrast between 2 physically opposite sisters (hence the thumbnail and representation). At the end of the day, this is their job and they play it up for the show (like all reality show stars do). It will take more than 2 women to change the image of large women equating to nothing more than comedy. Just look at plus-size korean celebrity women, most (if not all) are comedians. It's sad, it's disgusting, I don't agree, but that's how it currently is. It irks a lot of non-Korean viewers because of our mindfulness in knowing that weight gain/loss can be caused by things like mental health and eating disorders. But I also know that many entertainment industries regardless of where (american, korean, british) exploit certain people/cultures for profit, not just S korea.
I find this presentation to be really annoying... I really like watching people eat food (because it looks so good) but honestly I can't stomach this...
Uhm. That’s just how each of them eats? And you can’t really put American standards into Asian culture. This is already a culture in Asia that people are expected to be a standard size. If you go to Korea you will see very little people agreeing with your opinion, maybe not openly but subconsciously. Actually, this kind of thought is frowned upon in most east asian countries. Also this whole thing is prbly scripted anyways and if the big sister didn’t want to do this she wouldn’t have continued eating so monstrously in front of the camera. Another thing about east asians, they take their work very seriously and will do most things to earn their pay.

Tbf most Korean meals that you would typically eat at home are very well balanced and usually healthy. But I feel like the typical diet has shifted into more processed or junk food in Korea as well similar to how a typical meal would be in the US and it's increasing obeisty rate there as well.

So many people comment about how sun young eat the meat and look like she's unhealthy while her sister is eating corn. I think it's healthier to eat the meat instead of corn that has so many glucose in it. Meat has more calories but the quality is better than carbs.

This sucks how the society plays a trick on our minds and to judge people based on how they eat due to their sizes. They target at the oldest sister for her weight and make fun of her, when clearly the younger sister eats just as much and people would say "she knows how to eat". Why is that? Because the youngest is skinny??? As an Asian, I get where the elders are coming from but its not ok.. The older generation has a close mindset, so its too hard to change the older generations mindset (parents, grandparents). If she wants to get her sister to eat less she should start by downplaying food and acting as if it's no big deal. This sucks how the society plays a trick on our minds and to judge people based on how they eat due to their sizes. They target at the oldest sister for her weight and make fun of her, when clearly the younger sister eats just as much and people would say "she knows how to eat". Why is that? Because the youngest is skinny??? As an Asian, I get where the elders are coming from but its not ok.. The older generation has a close mindset, so its too hard to change the older generations mindset (parents, grandparents). Also in some Asian countries, asians are prone to be skinny and light, the lighter you are and the skinnier you are, the more attraction people will come to you. If you are the complete opposite, they will continue to bash on you. Again, it is not ok shame on anyone in whatever means.
This production is raising future bullys. Yes, they are trying to help the oldest sister to loose weight, but at the end of the day, helpers dont laugh at others mistakes or to make them look stupid.

I genuinely hate the way people perceive "fat" as "unhealthy" there is literally no research done that shows that all fat people are "unhealthy" nor is there research proving that all skinny/ smaller people are "healthy" so the policing over her and all other bigger/fatter people is completely uncalled for. It strips people of their humanity and warrants unwanted comments from people who are literally destroying themselves in other ways but think they are better just because they are skinnier or smaller than their bigger counterpart.
