    Two delectably squishy handfuls to go with a stunning beaver! I just hope some folks are not offended by the artificially inflated wheels. There are those who prefer the natural ones. ;)

      I agree with everything you said. I don't care if they're pumped up of just natural...so long as I can squeeze them...I like them. As for the beaver, if she's really good, she'll let you corn hole it too ;)

    Hey Brian and Camera crew. Bought this plane after my Husky debacle. I absolutely love it. Maidened it last week and you were right. Tires were like a brick. Took the 4.5 Dubros off the mangled Hisky and it made the plane perfect. Thanks for what you guys do. Much appreciated

    I loved the 6" inch Dubro inflatables on my original Carbon Z Cub and agree, it completely changed it's takeoff, landing and ground handling characteristics. I went a step further with the cub and installed the full articulating, gas shock absorbing scale landing gear and it brought it to another level. Even though it added a lot of weight the plane took it just fine, but I think it's about time to upgrade it's stock Spektrum AR635 to the newer AR637T for the safe, forward programming and better gyro features it offers. Make sure you check out the awesome and amazing XOAR Beechwood props for your Cub and Beaver, they really increase the looks and performance over the stock prop appearance.

    Hello Brian & Camera Crew, sometimes I watch your pilot fly the Beaver and he seems inebriated during his maneuvers. I'm so glad he did not crash in the bottom of the bowl. I like the inside passes.

    Great in-depth information on another great airplane. In fact, I think this is why you are so successful and endorsed by RC companies. It's really helpful how you always go into updates and/or upgrades for every airplane you show. No other channel that I know of does this kind of thing. Hang in there and keep up the good work, it's appreciated.

    Brian if weight is a problem empty the tyres of air and fill with Helium :).
    But on a more sensible note to get tyre clearance bend the end of the wheel mount's inwards so you have the top of the wheel camber positive out as the very small bush planes have, as the landing gear is sprung steel and gives as you touch down and the wheel camber will go from camber out at the top of the wheel to camber in as the gear flexes on landing, hey I have used nail varnish as threadloc when needed out running my offroad truck's and a bolt kept backing out as I forgot to redo the threadloc after a rebuild. Excuse me waiter what is the fly doing in my soup ? I think is back stroke sir. As my wife has passed yes my workshop has spilled over from the garage tools and fluids to the lounge and into the kitchen diner so the only thing not in my lounge is the compressor lol, this is the one the cowl flew off and ate the prop the Saylers were flying I believe.
    So do you like this more than the Mike Patey Draco, I like the look of the Draco but that is more to do with how much scale detail they have put into it and the performance with short take off and landing appeals as I am into the looking scale part.

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I like the Draco more, but it's also more expensive. It's heavier, and MORE detailed, but I kinda think...is it too much to have BOTH, AND a Carbon Z Cub SS 2.1m??? - I say no ;) LOL!!!

    Dubro tyres are great but are extremely heavy (I've got the 6 inch) on my Hangar 9 Carbon Cub. I've also used the Kavan air filled wheels which are a lot lighter but are not the same quality. Check out the comparison by Dick Gibson on TH-cam. Also couldn't help noticing you weren't completely balancing the prop. The hub needs to be balanced as well since the prop should stay in any position on the balancer. A level prop could just mean a heavy sided hub. Another great video.

      The Spinner and Prop, right?

    • @raglan0015
      @raglan0015 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BrianPhillipsRC I balance the prop and spinner independently and its surprising how much weight sometimes needs to be added to the propeller hub to get the prop to balance. I use a longer shaft on the DuBro balancer to balance the spinner. Changing the subject are you going to review the new E-Flite Viper 90mm? That's one review that I would particularly like!

I've been racing and building RC, nitro powered trucks and buggies since 2007 but, I've always wanted to get into Planes. I wonder if there is a significant jump in skill level and difficulty between electric and gas powered planes? Maybe, I'll work my way up to gas powered someday. Great video and enjoyable as always.

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it's a big jump in cost, and skill for safety sake...bigger, and heavier planes can cause a bit more damage from crashes.

      @shortbiggie 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BrianPhillipsRC Thanks for the reply. Although I check my CG, it's good to know what others experience. I'm putting the Dubro 5.5" on my FMS Super cub. I'm not planning on inflating them since they measure correctly and I don't want them firmer than they are. Surprisingly, the Du-bros are a "drop in" replacement for the stock tires as long as you install the Dubro stop collars. Those collars end up then very close to the e- clip groove on the axle so if the clip is reinstalled the collar will remain in place even if it loosens. Back to the Beaver, the bigger tires just look better. The tiny yet scale stock tires just make a nice looking plane look bad. Put another beaver to work building a dam in the eagle killing zone, flood it and put some of these planes on floats. Hard to beat float flying. Happy Landings!

    Hi Brian,
    I put the floats on my Beaver and it is tail heavy, am I correct in thinking the c.g. is the same for floats or wheels?

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. Might need to add some nose weight if you're not able to get it good enough for flight on a larger flight pack.
      My suggestion would be to get it all the way out on the tip of the floats, then you can use a lot less weight, but also, have you considered maybe doing a flight with it tail heavy...if it's not WAY tail heavy, might still be okay. If it's super pitchy, then you might have to use some extra ELEVATOR EXPO to help get her landed, just FYI...and also, you can generally land on grass, as a get out of jail free card.

    From the looks of it, you had everything you needed to just bolt the wheels on. The center of the Dubro wheels are machined for bushings, or bearings, or just clearance. Chances are really good that the bearing in the original wheel would have fit right into the Dubro wheel. Next time, split the rim, mount the just the inner rim to the plane, use one bearing in the rim, one on the back with the included bushings as spacers if needed to get the tire to clear the landing gear. Then just bolt the rim together to capture the tire. The head of the axle bolt will be inside the empty bearing hole of the outer rim half when you are done. You wont be able to see how the rim is mounted from the outside, which usually baffles people when they look at it... Technically you any bearings in the wheel if you don't have room for them. Like on a podded landing gear, or with retract clearance issues. There is a reason those tires come with really short mounting bolts....
