Santa Maria de Eunate (12th century) is one of the jewels of the Camino de Santiago, not many people deviate 1.7 km to see it, you have done it, congratulations. It is a mysterious church related to the Templar Order that protected pilgrims. It´s a must!

You strike a nice balance among all the camino aspects competing for attention: personal thoughts, degree of difficulty, weather, sights, history, locals, and fellow pilgrims. I especially appreciate your willingness to share exact dates, so I can lookup historical weather reports to put your weather comments into perspective. I had to cancel my camino plans for last May and June due to covid. Watching your videos and those of others has me excited for my trip next year which I am currently planning. Hi Robert Richards and Rachelle. My wife and I want to start our Camino on April 1st 2022 to end around the 19th of May 2022 (our 10th wedding anniversary). What should we expect from the weather? Will it be similar to this period (September)?? Is April to May a busy time which may make finding hostels/hotels difficult?

ok, lets start with the elephant in the room..... ' woke up at 4:30......... started walking before 6... I definitley remember reading in the guidebook that I totally made up that pilgrims should only ever see one 6 o clock a day.... and its just before dinner lol.
Slightly more seriously, another brilliant vlog rachelle, glad to see you are 'finding your stride'(as well as your friends)..... maybe 'laying down on rocks' will become a bew avant garde art form.... remember folks, you saw it here first :)

Hi Rachel. Albergue Buen Camino in Palas del Rei when you get there has super fast 5g WiFi. Will help you upload fast. Also has cafe you don’t have to stay there to get the WiFi

I walked the same day as you. Unfortunately I started from Pamplona a few hours later and got to climb that hill to Perdon in 28C weather with a nice hot sun beating down on me. I should of walked earlier like you and enjoyed it. Glad to see you finally got seated and enjoyed a nice dinner at Hotel Jakue. Buen Camino!

Estella Gutierrez I stayed in different kinds of places but only a hotel on two occasions. Those treats were quite welcome and helped me recharge. 👣

I'm enjoying your journey almost as much as you are. I like that you include the religious aspect of the Camino which is really why it started. I'm OCD when it comes to planning so--do you remember which terminal in Madrid you arrived in and left from? Were they the same (maybe Terminal 4). Also why did you spend the night in Madrid? Was it possible to fly to Pamplona or Biarritz the same day? Thank you and I'll be following along.
Terminal 4 for both, I believe. I didn’t want a long travel day so decided to stay overnight in Madrid. Not sure what flights are available the same day. Enjoy the planning process! Buen Camino!
1121gsm It depends at what time you get into Madrid. I think there is a 8am and a 10 ish flight to Pamplona with Iberia’s regional jet airline. I did it in one day, but I arrived at Madrid’s airport at 7am. In Pamplona there is a bus for 1.35 euros (I show it it my video) that takes you to the bus terminal (you will have to wait for it since their schedule is not like ours). Then it is 22 euros to Saint Jean Pied de Port on a 1.5 hour bus ride (tip, look for other pilgrims, 4 to be exact, then buy your tickets for 18 euros).
