OLD SCHOOL is always and will always be better! Bands that Djent or play like Polyphia...are super awesome...but stuff like this (the video) will live on! OLD SCHOOL metal and guitar solos will be here when all other guitar stuff has passed!
Faster and more technical is king guitar players and musicians, but musical and sounds great is king to 90% of music listeners. Richie nails a dose of both for sure. Musician and technician
He is a MOZART 💜🔥 So emotional... Very few guitarists in the world are able to make their soul speak to such an extent with their instrument... Richie is fantastic 💜💜💜
I dont know he is not something u have never seen before but for some reason his playing is tasty af. And live he is awesome, best thing that could happend to Priest.
His style is very powerful, just take a look at how he attack the strings. Of course, a very wide and powerful vibrato always makes the difference. Great guitar player, Good choice for Judas Priest
One of the best guitarist to come out in a while. He knows how to make the guitar scream out and get your attention. He always impresses me. Hot licks for sure. He's a beast!!!!
Ritchie is one of the best guitar players of our generation. He really is the complete package. I reluctantly can't wait until Priest calls it quits and Ritchie gets to form his own band, he is going to influence so many young players.
A guitarist with melody and sounding like a guitarist from the day. Not filled with over sweeping and scales completely over played and speed so out of control that it begs to be slowed down. Nice melodic tune.
A solo that actually fits the song . He never mentioned Tom Schulz as one of his major influences but his influences were influenced by Tom Schulz . Richie appears to share the same sense of melodic fluidity as Tom Schulz has. Nice !!!
Shit yeah. I did get to see him before but I'm very glad I got to see him this year in April with JP. Fantastic show and Rob sounded like 30 years ago. Most people don't survive an aeortic dissection and I'm confident in saying no one has ever survived it and finished the solo for Painkiller.
Well to be fair, SRV was famous for heavy strings going up to 13s and Richie uses 11-50 which is very heavy for playing this kind of music so there’s some logic to it.
Slash 80s I liked him but Let's be clear Edward Van Halen king of the 80s influenced other players in that era and afterwards. I'm biased though Eddie was is the man R.I.P to one of if not the greatest to ever do it.
Ive had the privilege of watching him for few years when he wasnt an international star. He is always be an amazing player and we kept wondering why he wasnt famous, He would be playing 4 hours with his cover band "Metalworks" in London at the weekend churning outs tunes from Maiden/Sabbath/Priests and playing better then the original. Then he would go home and practice. No one else made me go home and practice after watching his playing. Very passionate and inspiring. Im not surprise Priests riched a higher level with him. Long live Ritchie
Didn't he work hard? I used to work with him in the guitar shop he worked in and his playing even as a teenager was absolutely inspiring. I've never played with anyone since who has inspired and driven me as much. He deserves the success, his dedication and hard work warrant it plus, he's just such a nice guy.
I watch this almost every day now it could cheer you up from the most foul mood you've ever been in in your life. Priest getting Ritchie to replace KK Downing was the best move they could have made the guy brings so much to the band. Once you've listened to all his stuff on this channel then you listen to the 2 albums he's done with priest you can really hear the influence hes had in such a short time with the band. One of the best guitarists on the planet without a doubt.
Wish my guitar playing skills were as good as this. Playing for almost 9 years now and i still look at this and go WOW, wish i could do that as clean as him.
This is relentless ... what an honor to be able to see this. The sound, the composition, the riff and the solo is mind boggling let alone the playing itself. Remember what Kerry King from Slayer said "Judas Priest did it all ...and before everyone else" and the likes of Tipton and Halford pick Richie is in itself a legend. Tremendous !
Richie is fucking great !! His style is so flawless! it's like how the fuck did he just pull off some of those riffs ! He's always on point and he always finds a way to blend his riffs !! Total Shred !!!!!!!!!!!!
The more I see and hear This guy play , the more I’m blown away . He has a style and tone all his own like all the truly great guitarists . I haven’t bought a Judas Priest recording in a long time . Still a big fan , I’ll have to revisit their music and get caught up on what I’ve missed with Mr. Faulkner adding such an incredible guitar sound / ability it must be incredible music . Can’t wait to dive into to it ! I’ve always been a bit of a traditional Gibson player / enthusiast but the EMGs take the tone to another tone direction that is Incredible . I’m fact we just purchased s Gibson tribal v that has a Kahler trem, previous owner changed out the 496:500 for the EMGs . Sounds Amazing !
Very dynamic and lively, and above all, very fun to listen to. Filled up with subtilities. He plays fast, but it's no piss contest. He does not fall in the trap of being fast just for the sake of being fast. Very melodic. Good work. I repeat myself: EMG have become one the best music channel.
Modern day throwback. Faulkner is a modern day guitar hero. His style and tone is excellent. Easily my fav guitarist of the last 20 years. Rock on Richie! Priest hit the jackpot when they found the Falcon!
Richie is awesome. Hosnian Prime, Organas Rage, Dark Embrace etc. those song titles sound so Star Warsish haha. He is probably a Star Wars fan haha. :D
Ritchie is such a superb player. I know other commenters are saying there's something to him but can't put their finger on it. He's not a super-fast player, he's not using any unique style of playing, he's not combining different styles, straight up balanced sound, not using any effects, not using weird tunings, hardly touches the whammy bar - he's a really straight down the line Gibson-raised rock lead guitarist. I think it's a kind of sure-footedness to his playing - a technique that ensures every note is hit so precisely and every bit of emotive response is drawn from it (I think drawn from the pressure he's applying to the strings, so they're always bending a little when he hits the note, Slash and Vai do the same). The phrasing is kept tight so he's not dwelling on any particular pattern, but mixing it about up and down the neck to keep it fresh. But it's that it's a very accessible form of playing - the average guitarist could get the hang of playing parts of this lead. I think we're surely blessed that EMGtv has got him on to do so many songs for us. I am so sold! The next guitar I'll get will have EMG's on, I already have a set on a Jackson Dinky and they're tones above anything else I've played that's affordable.
Just to say that I keep coming back to this listen to this track.. it's become one of my fave solos and I'll probably buy the new Priest album because of Ritchie
Such a visionary! It's so refreshing to hear a modern guitarist with a great tone for once -He has that Dave Murray influence. At the same time, his technique is on point, while he is also super creative using the scales and the harmonics.... incredible talent there. Ritchie will be very important for guitar history in the future to come :)
The music of this track is very melodic and is performed excellent from Mr. Faulkner without any excessive complicated guitar techniques for just impression is a nice metal song waiting for its lyrics to come and has also something to try to learn as a new guitar player.
In an era of “faster and more technical is king”, this IS what a solo is supposed to sound like..top notch!
Wow what an original thing to say. If you get a chance can you comment on how underrated he is? Thanks!
OLD SCHOOL is always and will always be better! Bands that Djent or play like Polyphia...are super awesome...but stuff like this (the video) will live on! OLD SCHOOL metal and guitar solos will be here when all other guitar stuff has passed!

instablaster...
Richie is a MONSTER... There's nothing compare how easy and clear he plays
He plays melodic solos. He plays with feeling. Soul.
He is a MOZART 💜🔥 So emotional... Very few guitarists in the world are able to make their soul speak to such an extent with their instrument... Richie is fantastic 💜💜💜
Eat your heart out Zakk! This is how to hold the squeals back, and still rip! Love this
Ritchie's tone and playing are fucking killer - super tasteful but with major chops. He's probably my favorite metal guitarist of the last 25 years.
Respect
- For his skill
- For sharing
- And for his contributions to Judas Priest
- Long Live Judas Priest!
I dont know he is not something u have never seen before but for some reason his playing is tasty af. And live he is awesome, best thing that could happend to Priest.
He kind of reminds me of Zakk Wylde, just with good tone. :D
His style is very powerful, just take a look at how he attack the strings. Of course, a very wide and powerful vibrato always makes the difference. Great guitar player, Good choice for Judas Priest
he said that he is inspired by Zakk Wylde in some riffs.. i think hes tone is good too
Zakk is one of his main influences!
trnkodlak28 hes a very energetic n exciting player, like michael schenker
Man I'm hearing it all.. Schenker, Gary moore, Wylde, Eddie.. this guy is the whole package. Rock n' Roll
this tone and this guy make me want to play guitar more and more and more.....
Organas Rage, ha, gotta love the dude's love for Star Wars. As usual, excellent tone and tasty playing. Easily one of the best guitarists of this time
i'm thinking Judas Priest made a great hiring decision with Mr. Faulkner!!!!
He's a beast !! total shred !!!!!!
Sure... He is fantastic 💖
This guy has that classic touch, absolutely beautiful playing.
what a hell of a guitar player!
gabifromhell yeah Batman fully agree
His playing is imperfect but yet so perfect...i cant describe it...its amazing
Ya exactly...thats the word..feeling..just like friedman
David Luiz lmao
David Luiz I think that’s probably the blues influence.
One of the best guitarist to come out in a while. He knows how to make the guitar scream out and get your attention. He always impresses me. Hot licks for sure. He's a beast!!!!

A bad move
He’s doing it.
Elegant Weapon
Along with Scott Travis on drums, Rex Brown (Pantera) on bass, and Ronnie Romero (Rainbow) vocals.
That tone!
I can't stop watching this video!
A guitarist with melody and sounding like a guitarist from the day. Not filled with over sweeping and scales completely over played and speed so out of control that it begs to be slowed down. Nice melodic tune.
Yes!!
Sooooo true.....Now...all hail RICHIE...Or face torture beyond belief!!! Never speak of this ever again! Until the next day, anyway. Lolllkhhlfghvm
I agree with you... speed without control is nothing, no soul, no melody, just show off!
I dont have any more to add to that... you summed it up just perfectly. This guy is the whole deal. My kind of metal.
A solo that actually fits the song . He never mentioned Tom Schulz as one of his major influences but his influences were influenced by Tom Schulz . Richie appears to share the same sense of melodic fluidity as Tom Schulz has. Nice !!!
Incredible, incredible player.
A wonderful wonderful talent that we are so very lucky to still have

@@221b-l3t Unbelievably lucky
He has rock solid tone. The tone is very thick and clear. It sounds like SRV playing Gibson. He's really a authentic rock guitarist.
HannB best comment
He sure is
Sounds a lot like Slash to me
Well to be fair, SRV was famous for heavy strings going up to 13s and Richie uses 11-50 which is very heavy for playing this kind of music so there’s some logic to it.
"It sounds like srv ..."
Hahaha wtf kind of drugs are you on?? I want some
Richie Faulkner is the best EMG performer here on EMGtv. Thats my opinion. :-))
THIS GUY IS FUCKING BEYOND RIDICULOUS OMFG
Andy James is the same good.
What about Alexi?
Jeff loomis was pretty good playing jato unit 🎸
Alexi for me
I can’t wait until I see it LIVE again !!!
Richie is easily a new guitar god. How Blackmore was the 70s, Slash 80s, Dime 90s and Richie 2000s. Genius player
Slash ?????????? Are you serious ?
Consider putting Randy in 80s. Sounds better than Slash
I realize this is an older comment but Appetite for Destruction came out in '89..hardly makes slash the best of the 80s.
Randy Rhoads,Jake E.Lee,George Lynch,Paul Gilbert,Vinnie Moore,Paul Gilbert,John Sykes...
Slash...😕
Slash 80s I liked him but Let's be clear Edward Van Halen king of the 80s influenced other players in that era and afterwards. I'm biased though Eddie was is the man R.I.P to one of if not the greatest to ever do it.

His playing just locks into the groove of the song so well!
among all the guitarists from his generation he is my most favorite. watched him live . ah. he is awesome.
I've seen it 20 times now. Incredible playing. Way to go Richie!
That is some serious timeless metal guitaring!
Love to hear a all instrumental album from Richie, this is so good!!
That guitar is so beautiful.
Wish my guitar playing skills were as good as this. Playing for almost 9 years now and i still look at this and go WOW, wish i could do that as clean as him.
Finally Ritchie used some of this incredible piece in a Judas Priest song. Crown of Horns has a bit of this one going on in the solo!
Came here to say the same thing! I knew I recognised that solo!
total shred this guy has some of the sickest chops i've ever seen !! brilliant !
Randy Chotin yeah Randy
Wow, the guitar sound audio is blended so perfect! Smooth video too. Really nice!!
RockOptions he has got some amazing musical sense

So smooth with the pickup changes too.
..wow..im in awe..
Killer player, we love you Ritchi , keep the heavy alive!
a modern Michael Schenker
You said my words bro......
He actually mentioned Schenker as on of his influences I think, very accurate statement sir!!
The modern Schenker is still alive and kicking ass.. but I know what your saying lol
They both play Gibson Flying V guitars.
Indeed!
Very dynamic and lively, and above all, very fun to listen to. Filled up with subtilities. He plays fast, but it's no piss contest. He does not fall in the trap of being fast just for the sake of being fast. Very melodic. Good work. I repeat myself: EMG have become one the best music channel.

Love his pickup switching and subtle volume changes to emphasise the notes when he come right up the neck.
Definitely refreshing to hear a player that doesn’t overplay...
Modern day throwback. Faulkner is a modern day guitar hero. His style and tone is excellent. Easily my fav guitarist of the last 20 years. Rock on Richie! Priest hit the jackpot when they found the Falcon!

he is awesome.Priest should be proud!
I come back to this every few months. My favorite shred of his visit. Going to catch Priest in September.
That Flying V is cool as Hell.
Steve Stell Epiphone has given him a signature guitar. It's available for pre-order now.
imagine the Jackson King V....daaaamn
Ainda compro uma dessas!
FANTASTIC! Full of power and energy. The flow is so impressive and smooth
Awesome solo, old school with new school done tastefully!
Richie is awesome. Hosnian Prime, Organas Rage, Dark Embrace etc.
those song titles sound so Star Warsish haha. He is probably a Star Wars fan haha. :D

Francisco Amozurrutia yeah man he's the best thing happened to preist
If you take all of Richie's solos on EMG TV and publish it as an album , you will have the best instrumental album of 2021
Stellar, with fluent transitions.. Richie progressions ahead. Very creative unique tract.
Wow what a music , what a playing and what a sound. Thank Richie
Love this guy

Michael Holmgaard Jeez my gosh if thisn dude isn't what's happening right now in metal!

I love Richie!!
What an amazing guitar player! Love Priest! \m/ \m/
Richie plays like a sexy beast! Love his tone..has that vintage feel yet with a modern edge!
Damn Ritchie, you can tear it up dude!!!
Amazing sound and shreds
Such great chops and improv
This very metal. This is very melancholic.
What a fucking KILLER !!! Richie man you poor out your heart and soul!

Amazing performance!
This dude plays clean af, great musician!
TREMENDO!! Me encanta lo Melodico de este video. Es perfecto este Faulkner!
