Matt Maran Motoring Matt I have a 16 GT Premium manual in magnetic grey. I still haven't gotten used to the front end of the 18s and the no signal hood style is so much less aggressive and it's a huge deterrent from me upgrading. It just looks sad now lol But I do love the quad tips and active exhaust and a 10speed auto that consistently puts you into the 11s with just a few upgrades. It's a love hate thing for me lol
I used to think the new front end was ugy. Then I saw it in person and well.... There's a 2018 mustang in my driveway now lol

It seems that they might be keeping up with a pattern 2010 they had a refresh and kept it from 2010 to 2012. The new S550 went 2015-2017. 13-14 refresh and so I’m guessing they’ll keep this style for 18-19 and in 2020 they’ll probably refresh it again or even scrap this and make a new one

I special ordered my 2018 automatic GT and it arrived with 3 miles on it. Two years later, I still react like this every time I hear the roar of the 5.0 engine. Though when I floor it, the tail end immediately begins to fish tail. I did buy a donut spare tire, which adds approximately 30 lbs to the rear end for $330.00
The automatics float the redline!! That’s why!!

A fantastic car. I rented a 2018 GT in Central California last month, and the car returns agent asked me how it was. I told him it was "life changing." I get it now. The 2018 GT absolutely rules as a fun and comfortable daily driver.

hey Matt, is the dark highland green only for the Bullitt? Also, how would you say the new mustang feels compared to the base Stingray? Both the same amount of horsepower, but the mustang has that 10 speed with a little more weight.
Wil_Leighton yes and I’m my opinion the mustang feels batter in the high end then the corvette but the better is better down low (stingray model)

Ford just keeps building upon the 5.0 NA V8 setup.. It's becoming the best naturally aspirated engine on the market! Sounds a lot like the 5.0 V8 in the Lexus LC500 and GS-F actually. I love that the redline is over 7 grand, this harkens back to the 60s where for example the 1969 Boss 429 engine had a high red line for its day due to it being a straight up racing engine. I really wish Ford wised up with the lincoln brand and stuck their arm deeper into the corporate spending budget for the continental and just used this engine for it, maybe even adapted the Mustang platform to be a long wheel base, RWD architecture true luxury entry. Surely money is there its' just the willingness to play on the same court as the big 3 from Germany aswell as Lexus, Jaguar and Infiniti even Maserati that Ford is lacking in.

Really depends on what you like. The Auto is more relaxed. You get to just chill, enjoy the sound, but you're not as connected to the car.
With a manual, it's the car experience, right? You decide when to shift. Me personally, I'm going with the auto. I'm not a huge fan of manuals. I know, I know...I'm a weirdo.
This lightning blue is a nice color but I wish they still offered grabber blue as an option. Hopefully they will bring grabber blue back for the 2020 Mustang lineup.
They brought grabber lime back for the 2020 Shelby which is arguably the rarest color on a mustang
My 2015 GT premium is Deep Impact Blue. The best blue color ever.

Love you enthusiasm during the test drive. The coyote motor is legit. Found your review because I'm considering an 19 GT AT. Everything is pretty jaded after owning a 15 Z07 and 17 F-Type coupe R but for $30k, its a fun toy.
Matt love your enthusiasm man! Seeing the excitement on your face during those pulls made me want to get out of work and drive my 2018 GT lol. It sure is a great car and agree with you on all points. The auto is best left is S mode or S+ mode for the fastest shifts because as you experienced the paddles are lacking in the swiftness.
I previously owned an '11 GT with 6-speed auto, which I thought was quick. My recent rental from the airport was an '18 GT with 10-speed. The difference in performance between the two vehicles was mind blowing!

This ten speed is amazing! Blips through gears when getting on it, but provides nearly 29 mpg when cruising at 75. PERFECT!
That's the best I've seen yet so far, and I only have 700 miles on mine since April. May get better mpg....
The smiles per mile are way more important in this car! So much fun!
I just wish they did a better job on the front fascia ..13 through 17 is still the best-looking imo.

@@nghitran1433 The 10 speed auto got me 31 mpg on the highway, with a few power bursts thrown in too. Renting one now, and it's definitely a modern muscle car.

Was torn between this and a 17 2SS Camaro, went with the Camaro. Just liked the looks better and the interior. Personally think it comes down to personal preference. 2018 Mustangs are definitely badass rides.
We’ve gotten to a point where you’re not getting a bad car either way. Performance is similar in both cars and they’re both really good performers.
I was torn between both also, but I went with the 2018 Mustang. So far so good!
Can’t lose either way these days. There was huge differences when I was younger. I am a car enthusiast I love both these cars! I like my Audi too, being in PA I need that AWD.

It took me months to decide. I eventually got a 17 GT over a 17 2SS or 1LE. The price was better on the GT PP and I was worried about blind spots. I drove a 18 SS recently and the blind spots really aren't bad. Camaro feels tighter, better handling. The LT1 is a torque monster. If I could do it over. I'd get the Camaro.
Headlights have grown on me. Definitely taking my 02 GT out today for the beautiful weather here in Detroit

I briefly drove a 2018 GT with the Performance pack (I work at a Ford dealership) and these cars are awesome. From the engine to the exhaust to the interior to the styling, I am definitely a fan, and that's coming from a GM guy haha. Great review Matt!

Have owned my GT since May. Still puts that same smile on my face as the first time I drove it.
Just traded a 2008 Bullitt for a new 2019 Mustang GT PP2 and am ABSOLUTELY LOVING IT!
back then the mustang wasnt shit cus of the transmission, imo. but now with the 10-speed, it's a REAL contender against the japanese and german sports cars
The transmission never held the mustang back the stick axle did. Transmissions were all fine and the 10 speed shifts all the time it never knows what gear it wants to be in i drove one didnt like it

I'm sure I know what I look like every time I drive ours. 14:36 is it. I've been a truck guy for years, but my wife's first car was her dad's '68 fastback (and we still have it). So we waited and waited to get a new vehicle and decided on the 50 year split and just picked up a 2018 GT with the 401A package and couldn't be more pleased with it. What a beast! Great job highlighting all of its great features.
Crazy how much this car has grown on me from how hideous it was when it was first announced to how much I actually like it now.
Still look hideous, weights WAY too much, and has a boring automatic.

A great review as always, and even though you love the Stangs you gave an unbias review that one can appreciate. I knew that you would be extra giddy while driving this and doing your trademark straight road acceleration tests. If I was ever lucky or fortunate enough to be able to afford a sports car, the Lightning Blue or Kona Blue in the Mustang and the Hyper Blue in the Camaros is my first color choice. If you are this excited about this one, I can't wait for a first drive review of your own Bullit Stang. I like the improvements in the car visually and tech wise and never understood the hate it received when it first came out.
I'm biased because I have a 2016, but the new front end is hideous. I'll never get used to it.

If you told me I would have bought a mustang 5 years ago and I would have called you crazy. The 2015-2017's are my favorite years other than the '66. They really improved the car from the 2014 to 2015 model year.
The new front end just doesn't do it for me, it was love at first sight with the 2015-2017's though. I think the 2018's are just too busy up front, it's all squished and looks distorted to me. IMO, its nowhere near as clean as the pre refresh S550's.
Still cant get used to the front... ive parked my 2016 next to a 2018 in the same color and for me theres no comparison
Watched this video last year befoe i bought my 2018 GT. Its the 10spd auto and I have zero complaints, yes the flappy paddles are a bit delay reaction, but the gearbox itself is fine. Especially when in all the right sport modes. Makes me smile just like you did pal. Love it.
