Matt Maran Motoring Matt I have a 16 GT Premium manual in magnetic grey. I still haven't gotten used to the front end of the 18s and the no signal hood style is so much less aggressive and it's a huge deterrent from me upgrading. It just looks sad now lol But I do love the quad tips and active exhaust and a 10speed auto that consistently puts you into the 11s with just a few upgrades. It's a love hate thing for me lol
I'm impressed they are constantly updating the Mustang, it would be too easy for Ford to let this languish like they have with other cars. Great video Matt.
Just imagine if they put this engine in a new Taurus with optional awd, would be nice,especially for those that need more practicality. But sadly wont be a thing
It seems that they might be keeping up with a pattern 2010 they had a refresh and kept it from 2010 to 2012. The new S550 went 2015-2017. 13-14 refresh and so I’m guessing they’ll keep this style for 18-19 and in 2020 they’ll probably refresh it again or even scrap this and make a new one
I special ordered my 2018 automatic GT and it arrived with 3 miles on it. Two years later, I still react like this every time I hear the roar of the 5.0 engine. Though when I floor it, the tail end immediately begins to fish tail. I did buy a donut spare tire, which adds approximately 30 lbs to the rear end for $330.00
A fantastic car. I rented a 2018 GT in Central California last month, and the car returns agent asked me how it was. I told him it was "life changing." I get it now. The 2018 GT absolutely rules as a fun and comfortable daily driver.
This was the video that made me want to buy a Mustang GT. His enthusiasm is priceless. That will probably be my face as well. Still saving up though. Hopefully next year I'll own one

I'm sure I know what I look like every time I drive ours. 14:36 is it. I've been a truck guy for years, but my wife's first car was her dad's '68 fastback (and we still have it). So we waited and waited to get a new vehicle and decided on the 50 year split and just picked up a 2018 GT with the 401A package and couldn't be more pleased with it. What a beast! Great job highlighting all of its great features.
I think i'm going to dyno mine when I get it. I'm curious to see what sort of figures it pulls in the real world vs the standard GT. Hopefully Ford underrated it as they usually do!
hey Matt, is the dark highland green only for the Bullitt? Also, how would you say the new mustang feels compared to the base Stingray? Both the same amount of horsepower, but the mustang has that 10 speed with a little more weight.
Ford just keeps building upon the 5.0 NA V8 setup.. It's becoming the best naturally aspirated engine on the market! Sounds a lot like the 5.0 V8 in the Lexus LC500 and GS-F actually. I love that the redline is over 7 grand, this harkens back to the 60s where for example the 1969 Boss 429 engine had a high red line for its day due to it being a straight up racing engine. I really wish Ford wised up with the lincoln brand and stuck their arm deeper into the corporate spending budget for the continental and just used this engine for it, maybe even adapted the Mustang platform to be a long wheel base, RWD architecture true luxury entry. Surely money is there its' just the willingness to play on the same court as the big 3 from Germany aswell as Lexus, Jaguar and Infiniti even Maserati that Ford is lacking in.
I get that same goofy smile on my face when I let my right foot get heavy in mine too! Such a blast! This ten speed is amazing! Blips through gears when getting on it, but provides nearly 29 mpg when cruising at 75. PERFECT! That's the best I've seen yet so far, and I only have 700 miles on mine since April. May get better mpg.... The smiles per mile are way more important in this car! So much fun!
I previously owned an '11 GT with 6-speed auto, which I thought was quick. My recent rental from the airport was an '18 GT with 10-speed. The difference in performance between the two vehicles was mind blowing!
Really depends on what you like. The Auto is more relaxed. You get to just chill, enjoy the sound, but you're not as connected to the car. With a manual, it's the car experience, right? You decide when to shift. Me personally, I'm going with the auto. I'm not a huge fan of manuals. I know, I know...I'm a weirdo.
Watched this video last year befoe i bought my 2018 GT. Its the 10spd auto and I have zero complaints, yes the flappy paddles are a bit delay reaction, but the gearbox itself is fine. Especially when in all the right sport modes. Makes me smile just like you did pal. Love it.

I briefly drove a 2018 GT with the Performance pack (I work at a Ford dealership) and these cars are awesome. From the engine to the exhaust to the interior to the styling, I am definitely a fan, and that's coming from a GM guy haha. Great review Matt!

Was torn between this and a 17 2SS Camaro, went with the Camaro. Just liked the looks better and the interior. Personally think it comes down to personal preference. 2018 Mustangs are definitely badass rides.
Can’t lose either way these days. There was huge differences when I was younger. I am a car enthusiast I love both these cars! I like my Audi too, being in PA I need that AWD.
It took me months to decide. I eventually got a 17 GT over a 17 2SS or 1LE. The price was better on the GT PP and I was worried about blind spots. I drove a 18 SS recently and the blind spots really aren't bad. Camaro feels tighter, better handling. The LT1 is a torque monster. If I could do it over. I'd get the Camaro.

I drove a new 2018 Mustang GT with the 10 spd. auto and loved it. It was fast as hell, sounded fantastic a and I just felt like I was Steve McQueen all the while driving it..lol (btw, I love the way the transmission down shifts in sport mode, sounds great). If I was getting this car I would definitely get the extended warranty because of all the computers it has.

back then the mustang wasnt shit cus of the transmission, imo. but now with the 10-speed, it's a REAL contender against the japanese and german sports cars
The transmission never held the mustang back the stick axle did. Transmissions were all fine and the 10 speed shifts all the time it never knows what gear it wants to be in i drove one didnt like it

Love you enthusiasm during the test drive. The coyote motor is legit. Found your review because I'm considering an 19 GT AT. Everything is pretty jaded after owning a 15 Z07 and 17 F-Type coupe R but for $30k, its a fun toy.
I just wish they stopped making them so dang heavy. Yesterday on 4 runs timed, I saw a 2019 G70 take a 10spd Auto 2018 Mustang GT..almost unbelievable considering the weight is almost identical, but the Hyindai is a 100hp less.. Ford please take out the bulk..😎 oh and Matt is way too excited 😜😜
These Mustang's are so good that local town folk are actually driving them through the winter months instead of their trucks or beaters - I am in Alaska. That has to say something since these Mustang owners install $1800 winter tires and putting some extra weight in the trunk.
This review has convinced me that my next new car will be a Mustang. I will be waiting until next summer more than likely though. Great review as usual Matt!
I have the 19, the things he complains about were fixed apparently in the newer year. It also is faster than the Bullet. They say the Bullet has 480 hp but new automatics are always faster. Mine chirps the tires up to 4th gear. I was lucky I bought the last 19 on the dealer lot and got 12K off list. I bought mine to have until I could get a C8, but I love this car so much I think I will just keep it.

I've been obsessed with the '18 GT for about a month. I've never looked twice at Mustangs, not sure why it's doing it for me all of a sudden. I'm seriously considering picking one up.
Special ordered mine and I can't wait! 2019 Ford Mustang GT, Velocity Blue (new for 2019 since Lightning Blue is no longer available), 10-speed auto, 301A interior package (don't need fancy seats and fancy dash), non-performance pack (I'll be adding my own mods), and active exhaust.
TheBishop12 The new taillights are supposed to be reminiscent of the fastback mustang from back in the day, just as the rest of the car is. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong
If you told me I would have bought a mustang 5 years ago and I would have called you crazy. The 2015-2017's are my favorite years other than the '66. They really improved the car from the 2014 to 2015 model year. The new front end just doesn't do it for me, it was love at first sight with the 2015-2017's though. I think the 2018's are just too busy up front, it's all squished and looks distorted to me. IMO, its nowhere near as clean as the pre refresh S550's.
Could do a resonator delete then headers if thats not enough and still keep the active exhaust. when the active is in sport its basically a muffler delete.
After researching for months. I had say this is the best thing you can buy in the class under 70k. Ford also seems reliable than others. Nice Review. I might just settle with this car.
I have no problem with automatic 10 speed..its superb..smooth and hardcore in drag mode..11.8 sec bone stock in quarter mile..very impressive transmission..

As a long time challenger guy (owned the 5.7 and then the 6.4 - which was heavily modded and turned out about 550 hp) I am in the market now for a different car - and I believe it will be the 2018 Mustang GT Premium with the performance pack. I've had a couple of times when there have been 3 of us in my Mustang. There is plenty of room for my girlfriend behind the right passenger seat. And the person in the right passenger seat has plenty of room also. I'm so happy to have the option of having more friends in the car because of the rear seats.

We’ve gotten to a point where you’re not getting a bad car either way. Performance is similar in both cars and they’re both really good performers.

Crazy how much this car has grown on me from how hideous it was when it was first announced to how much I actually like it now.

The transmission never held the mustang back the stick axle did. Transmissions were all fine and the 10 speed shifts all the time it never knows what gear it wants to be in i drove one didnt like it
I have the 10 speed on the Ecoboost and it's a blast.

These Mustang's are so good that local town folk are actually driving them through the winter months instead of their trucks or beaters - I am in Alaska. That has to say something since these Mustang owners install $1800 winter tires and putting some extra weight in the trunk.

Just traded a 2008 Bullitt for a new 2019 Mustang GT PP2 and am ABSOLUTELY LOVING IT!
I have the 19, the things he complains about were fixed apparently in the newer year. It also is faster than the Bullet. They say the Bullet has 480 hp but new automatics are always faster. Mine chirps the tires up to 4th gear. I was lucky I bought the last 19 on the dealer lot and got 12K off list. I bought mine to have until I could get a C8, but I love this car so much I think I will just keep it.

Special ordered mine and I can't wait! 2019 Ford Mustang GT, Velocity Blue (new for 2019 since Lightning Blue is no longer available), 10-speed auto, 301A interior package (don't need fancy seats and fancy dash), non-performance pack (I'll be adding my own mods), and active exhaust.
I'm biased because I have a 2016, but the new front end is hideous. I'll never get used to it.

If you told me I would have bought a mustang 5 years ago and I would have called you crazy. The 2015-2017's are my favorite years other than the '66. They really improved the car from the 2014 to 2015 model year.
The new front end just doesn't do it for me, it was love at first sight with the 2015-2017's though. I think the 2018's are just too busy up front, it's all squished and looks distorted to me. IMO, its nowhere near as clean as the pre refresh S550's.

Could do a resonator delete then headers if thats not enough and still keep the active exhaust. when the active is in sport its basically a muffler delete.
Plenty for a stock car.

After researching for months. I had say this is the best thing you can buy in the class under 70k. Ford also seems reliable than others. Nice Review. I might just settle with this car.

I have no problem with automatic 10 speed..its superb..smooth and hardcore in drag mode..11.8 sec bone stock in quarter mile..very impressive transmission..
man thats 10 speed is waste. Dual clutch or manual, nothing in between
you're insane, that 10 speed is retardly faster than the 6 speed manual, manual is just funner.
How is it a waste? It shifts insanely quick and can stay in the power-band better than a DCT.

As a long time challenger guy (owned the 5.7 and then the 6.4 - which was heavily modded and turned out about 550 hp) I am in the market now for a different car - and I believe it will be the 2018 Mustang GT Premium with the performance pack. I have converted to the dark side!

I've had a couple of times when there have been 3 of us in my Mustang. There is plenty of room for my girlfriend behind the right passenger seat. And the person in the right passenger seat has plenty of room also. I'm so happy to have the option of having more friends in the car because of the rear seats.
