Nice catch, Deeside RDS pump is always well driven I notice. Also given I live just off the main drag (or sunset strip of Shotton) it can be heard far sooner
I remain convinced that the classic two-tone is more effective than the American-style yelps, howlers, whoopers, and so on. But I'm 64, so may have been conditioned.
No fannying about, the traffic along there is pretty awful. I guess they were waiting for a fifth rider. As can be seen in the traffic between the first and second pump turning out the traffic changes pretty sharpish
I still cannot accept how long it takes to turn out the second appliance. The authority needs to re consider the retained system. The premises would have burnt down by now. So, so slow
The RDS crew generally live up to 5 minutes away from station and get an extra 5 to turnout, if this was in a 1 bay station they would be quicker as it is more urgent, however in this case the first pump could get there first and begin work while they turned out.
That was a quick turn out . They were the second pump , but even on one pump RDS stations it is more cost effective to have On Call staff .The staff have to come in from home or work and are not allowed to claim any exemptions such as breaking speed limits and in this video it looked like the traffic was really busy . It is frustrating to be sat in a traffic jam on the way to the station but there is nothing you can do about it ! In an ideal world every fire station would have a full time crew and be manned 24/7 , but in some quieter areas they might only get a few calls a year and if anything the trend is to make even more cut backs and have more on call crews or convert Wholetime stations into day manned ones .
Great filming, liked and shared 🧑🏻👍🏻🚒
Great Catch!👍

I agree - they sounded awful.
Very nice catch. Is there extra staff still on station?.
The Wholetime crew were about to swap over to night shift at the time the shout came through 👍🏼
@@firecatchesuk thanks for the reply, I was thinking that, or they had maybe a 5 crew, then 2 extra for another vehicle.
Deeside still got foam, water rescue and incident response unit hazmat ??
I believe they're cross-crewed.
@@lastofthefallensouls1943 they dont have thee IRU
Anybody know why the RDS boys seemed to be fannying around a bit?

It was nearing shift change when the shout came through he said
Whole time and retained?????
Some stations have wholetime and retained
