I didn't start watching the show regularly until season 7, but my mom and dad started at the beginning, so I had some intermittent memories of it. This was the first episode I can remember watching as a young boy. I'm glad you were able to experience it as well.

Shane didn't do that just to help Carl, I think it was to avenge him too. He's not the most mature or emotionally stable member of the group.

Shane could've absolutely shot Otis in the head and spared him from being eaten alive (then turning). The Walkers still would've gone for him.
My guess is that he left him alive for the screaming.
Otis would scream which would also attract more walkers.
He didn’t really care about “sparing” him in that moment 🤷♂️

I have to agree with mom...Shane killing Otis, almost certainly is the reason Carl is still alive. While on one hand, what Shane did was aweful...I don't think any of us really know what we would do in that situation. If atleast 1 of you don't make it back, Carl dies...and honestly, if it comes down to me or someone else being ripped apart & eaten alive...I'm sorry, but ya gotta go 😉

@@GJBedrin Shane tried to sacrifice himself first. Telling Otis to take the bags and go. Otis refused. Shane sacrificed 1 person to save 2, if he hadn't all 3 would have died. And frankly, they wouldn't have been in that position in the first place if not for Otis being careless with a gun. I'd have shot him too.
