Superb video, thank you. Damned shame what happened to the Descent: Underground team. Rob Irving apparently lost all his savings after the publishers shafted the project.
A lot of stuff didn't make it into this video as I was keeping it tight to Eric and SC but yeah Rob poured a lot into D:U and it's a shame he lost out, I did dig a little while researching and it looks like after a bit of a road bump in his career he's back on track though!
Thanks for making this video, I remember watching episodes of this show when it released and thought it was so cool that a video game company was being this open with showing off who was making this game that I backed. I vividly remember watching many of those clips you showed off when they originally released and loved the raw/low budget feel making everyone seem so down to earth. I also remember watching Next Great Starship, though I can't remember now where I saw it, maybe the Sci-Fi channel. It's crazy to think that the Redeemer came out of that and just the other day I was in one with a some friends. I always wondered what happened to Wingman's Hanger, I stopped following CIG related stuff for while and recently got back into the 'verse in December of '22 and vaguely remembered Eric and his show.
Thanks Sano! I'm back making these videos again in part because I think it's a missed area of Star Citizen history, lots of areas like the Next Great Starship, characters back in the early days are largely unknown or forgotten but I suspect people will at some point want to remember them years from now. It's how I feel about games I played in the last 90s and early 00s like Ultima Online, Dark Age of Camelot and WoW. I wish I'd kept my own old game play from those games to share now in some form. I've a few videos planned but I'll be getting back to the long format "a history of" videos shortly, they just take a long time to pull together!
