Ive used self since they started with just lip gloss in the $1 bins at Target 25 years ago
@@judielias2189 they used to be in the dollar tree and other dollar stores for $1. I started seeing them and buying them there like ten to 15 years ago. But the quality wasn't quite there yet. Their blushes and eyeshadows were lackluster and patchy to say the least. Their lipglosses were evaporated after only five minutes!! Their quality is better now, and have been using them again for the past three years. My fave is Milani and essence with some NYX.....
ELF has gotten better over the years, and so have many other drug store brands. I can't do high end products often either. Only if there are sales at Ulta, Macy's, etc.
I like the idea of a make-up video and a podcast episode on different topics, with a different tone and angle all in one week. This is what we, as women in our prime, are: the synthesis of our inside and outside. Thank you!

Hi from Annie both of the make ups look good the glow one is more for outdoors summery etc looks like less make up and gives healthy glow, lipstick shade is a nice change there from the browns and nudes etc more summery. I noticed you always use brown tones for eye shadow I find can not wear brown or red tones even pink for eye shadow makes one look like been cryn. I prefer to stick with blues and greens and at times a very light lilac eye shadows. I used to wear mascara shades of navy or blue or green or purple that was years ago these days eyes get too sensitive etc Most times avoid any eye make up. I just use foundation and bit of powder and blush n hi lights, then lip gloss and bit of lipstick. all kept to min use.

Really enjoyed this tutorial on Elf! I am almost 73 and since covid, I kind of lost interest in myself, gained some weight, and only applied the barest makeup. Tuned into you again and think I am coming back to me again. Looked today and found quite a bit of Elf in my HEB so I will start swinging by there a lot. Really enjoyed your other tutorial on brushes and was glad to see the ones Elf offers at more reasonable prices. I have to get the Jentey Kelly lid brush though!!! Wow, looks like it really makes a difference. Thank and bless you for loving us!!!

Really LOVE that lip shade on you. Nudes and peaches can sometimes make the face look a bit washed out but that berry shade looked fantastic on you! I also loved the eyebrows. Looked very natural and pretty. Well done Dominique, I really enjoyed this video.

Holy moly. I use the halo glow filter and I use a couple of dots on my forehead, 2 on each cheek and use my fingers to blend all over the face. A little goes a LONG way. I gasped when I saw you were using so much. Anxious to see the end of this video to see how that worked out. If you end up hating it, try it again using the smallest amount...and I and alot of people find you can skip a separate primer as the filter does the job of a filter for the most part
@dslovesau couldn’t agree more! The tiniest amount goes a very long way - I’m not surprised it was beginning to separate towards the end of the day and it must have looked like a metal mask. I think unless you are under 25, a very light, as you said just a few dots, application under foundation gives a lovely subtle glow

Elf has been killing it lately 😍😍 I’m here for their latest releases! Putty blush, bronzer and primer are my go-to. Liquid filter is literally *chefs kiss* and the setting sprays are a must have 🥰

I am 56 years old. I tried the Halo Glow foundation and I did not care for the wet look. I prefer a softer light matte look.

This was an amazing makeup video. Being retired I do appreciate seeing makeup videos that are using affordable makeup. My skin is dry so I do have issues with that. Everything that you do not matter what always looks so beautiful.

I have dry skin too. I have learned, for us, we can never use enough moisturizer. Sometimes I use as many as 3 moisturizers. I use snail mucin, Cerave and seal it with an face oil. It's trial and error till you find what works for you.
Same here. For that reason I prefer dewy but not glitter or shimmer foundation on myself. I only use powder on my nose. Matte foundations and powder cling to any dry or texture spots on my skin. I also have a combination of moisturizers that I use. Menopause changed everything.

I love all of it. I use the Halo Glow "foundation" as a highlighter by dotting it on my cheekbones over my foundation. Gives me a nice subtle glow.
I love that you used such an affordable brand. I have the little shadow set in those colors. Thank you for showing me how to use the “funky iridescent”! IYour finished look on both sides was lovely. I’m voting for the matte!

I love e.l.f. products and find the Halo Glow Liquid Filter works best when used sparingly as a highlighting primer on the cheeks, down the nose, on the chin, and on the cupids bow (forehead too if not oily there) and then topped with a light layer of my foundation and the Halo Glow setting powder. You get the beautiful glow AND coverage/wear time.

I like the light CC cream for summer and the more substantial make-up for winter, as I sweat and it melts off in summer heat. So both have their uses, a bit of shine in winter when you're getting a bit dull, a bit more coverage for a more formal, cooler evening outing in summer.... Elf are really doing great things.❤

I thoroughly enjoy your videos. I started using Covergirl Simply Ageless foundation after seeing your comparison video a while back, and it works so well with my 64-yr-old skin. Now seeing this today, which is so timely. Yesterday, I wandered around Ulta trying to find a small eyeshadow palette, since I don't regularly wear eyeshadow, and pallets so often come with shades/finishes I would never use. I ended up buying the E.L.F. small palette. At the $3.00 price I was concerned about quality. I wore for hours yesterday to try it out, and no crease settling. Impressive.
I really like the Instant Lift Brown Pencil in Taupe. As I age, the taupe is less harsh and looks more natural.

I use the Elf Halo Glow under my foundation and it gives you just a nice glow that you can see through your foundation, looks really nice.

Great video! Everyone else has been saying the halo glow is more like a dupe for the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Glow filter ( I couldn't remember the name) I use it more of a highlighter, never thought of using as a foundation, but would be beautiful with a tan. Loved the podcast!!
I use the liquid filter as a liquid highlighter on top of foundation and a little with my concealer for under the eye to prevent that cakey look.
I started using Elf products for many reasons. I prefer the staying power of the matte finish but I like a little of the glow too, maybe because it reminds me of a more youthful life. Thank you for all the time and effort to demonstrate both. I sincerely appreciate your efforts and will use this information for further purchases. I absolutely love girl talk. 😊

Thank you for the great video on ELF products. I use some of their products and really like the line. I love the sponges as well. I will definitely try more of their products. I do like that their products are more affordable with good quality. I like the Halo side but leaning more to the CC side. I will also try their lip products as well. Lipstick and so on of other brands tend to not stay on my lips very long, so I’m eager to try ELF. I do tend to struggle when applying contour etc. Any tips? I mixed the Halo Glow with the Elf CC and the combination just looks amazing! Mixed together they have become my favorite foundation.

Love ELF! Have tried the dewy look and just not a fan of it on me. Both looked beautiful on you but the matte is just tried and true until the end of the day. Love these tutorials where you compare products and the show the end result. Your videos are so informative and now we get to add the podcast to that list. After years of using Kiehl's, I switched to e.l.f. Holy Hydration SPF 30. It feels fantastic and has more SPF than most brands. I also love their non-SPF Holy Hydration moisturizer and Holy Hydration Eye Cream.

The concealer moves on me and found it sticky-ish not a shape tape dupe. Halo liquid filter I really like but I only place small dabs on over my Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer instead of using it all over. Then a setting elf spray. You look great either way Dom!

Hi! The CC Cream side was the clear winner in many ways. The pigment was richer and more sophisticated; the colours and texture lifted your face. The Glow Cream side was okay. It lacked something and quite honestly, made your face droop. I think the Glow Cream is geared towards a less mature consumer. ELF products surprised me, too! I love their eye shadows. Great video idea. ❤
I prefer the Camo CC look. Thank you for showing us the more affordable brand of makeup.
New to Elf, loving the product and being a senior on social security, I can buy makeup and have fun using it!
Once in a while I will use the halo glow on most of my face but I put foundation over it. Most of the time I take off of the wand with my fingers and put on cheeks, nose.
I have dry skin as I'm older and I would have gone with the glowy. but I have decided on the matte look

Definitely the matte! Please consider a tutorial for a beach or pool day for a quick routine with sunscreen and minimal makeup look but still look put together enough for photos or a seaside lunch at a nice restaurant.

Am so impressed with the e.l.f. products. Prefer the CC Creme Camo matte side but how fun the glow side looks. Thank you for showcasing this brand. Will have to check it out as I replace some of my old and expired makeup.
I use both drugstore and high-end makeup products. My favorite concealer that I've been using over one year is the Elf hydrating camo concealer. It works great.
Thanks for the drugstore review...and all day wear was so helpful...At 54 I agree cc cream but I might try it with the halo glow blush and highlighter to give the matte a little more glow without being too much..
Would you recommend these under eye makeup if one has some puffiness?
I am 58 and have always had an issue with puffiness under my eyes.

I only use the Halo Glow as a high lighter, but I love all of their new products. Especially the gripping primer not the green one but the orange or pink looking gripping primer. Their new glow sticks are buy far the best dupe for the Charlotte Tilbury and they are more then half the price. Fantastic!!!
