I do not have that. However my mom does at times. She ices them and keeps her legs elevated. She has no pain associated. Ty as always. Also I sent you message on Twitter.

I have MS. I have swollen feet and calves. He's correct it's my bad leg which is my left leg that also has foot drop. I take a water pill because I still go to work each day, but I only take that pill as soon as I go home and won't be going out or on weekends. I think I need to get a TED hose or something, but it's so frustrating.

Thanks Dr. For me, Gabapentin was the culprit, within a week after I started taking Gabapentin (10 yrs back), feet swelled, Neuro stopped Gabapentin & referred to a Lymphologist, who taught simple massages & extra pillows under feet, within a couple of weeks, feet as good as new - Every symptom/side effect is a mini-struggle Dr :-((

Raguraman B Lymphatic drainage is very important. Jumping on a rebounder if you can is also one of the best methods to get the lymph moving.

OMG...I never knew this! I’ve been checked for all the major issues you mentioned and they found nothing. MS is mainly on my left side and from behind my knee down to my foot gets swollen. Light bulb moment! I also notice it swells more if I wear a wedge shoe...causing my calve muscle to constantly contract. Thank you!

When I get up in the morning all my limbs look normal. My legs hurt though. It's hard to get going.
Then as the day progresses my feet, my knees and my lower legs start to swell, but the pain subsides. In the evening I lay flat in front of TV for couple of hours. All the swelling goes down to normal. When I try to walk, pain and discomfort in my legs returns. Day after day...
Being active and on one's feet definitely helps blood circulation. But it also hurts to move...
Catch 22... And I don't want any pain meds. I need to be aware of my limits.

I often have this. Especially if I’m standing still very long...like washing dishes. I hadn’t heard of any other MS’rs struggle with it so it was nice to see this video show up in my inbox! When this happens I lay on my back with my feet on my couch and my legs at a 90° angle to the couch. I also do my stretches like this because I have little use of my legs and this position helps me stretch easier. Thanks for the video Dr. Boster!

Going into my 30th year with MS and now Lymphedema. It is Hell. My right knee doesn't bend anymore and the pain of driving, walking, standing is excruciating. 🤬😱😥 I feel like Im losing my life. Im only 55 but it feels like I'm 100.
I'm losing weight and eating healthy... Lost 17 lbs so far. But as a single, disabled parent I don't have the option to just lie down all the time. As soon as I'm up the swelling comes right back. I need physical therapy and full leg (above the knee) compression.

I'm guessing COLD feet/legs could be a related problem, right? Lack of circulation?
Anyone else have this? Cold to the touch and always feeling cold on the inside. Foot warmers have helped a bit.

When I was in grad school, my feet would swell for no reason at all. Now I have the typical tingling and burning and was just diagnosed this year with MS. I made the mistake of getting deep tissue reflexology this week and man oh man that was torture. My feet are on fire and that was three days ago🥴 now I know that type of massage is contraindicated for MS. I’m sticking with my massage therapist who is a certified nurse and says pain in massage is NOT the goal. I am also going to prop my feet up. Good advice

Wow, I did not suspect any connection there between a swollen ankle and MS. My left ankle tends to swell since 4 years already - it is my "good" leg (had a rather massive break of right ankle when I was 17, plus my spine is now partially obstructing communication between my brain and the right thigh). Back then, when I first noticed the swelling, elevation helped - but it does not last for very long, got an X-ray and ultrasound, doctors had no explanation. Coincidentally another patient recommended Wobenzym to help 'surviving MS' in general - the swelling disappeared; after I finished the pills the swelling reported back. I still did not connect those incidents, but got another can of Wobenzym a few moths later and once the swelling dissipated - it finally clicked in my shrinking brain :-)

I swell more when I move more. The first and worst time was at the Indy 500 several years ago. I also got a weird "rash" that was more like dark patches and it was both legs

Never thought about it but you are completely right I'll think thru out the day what can I do to get this done I have a lot of pillows in my living room from the couches so maybe that for now while I look and buy some in a store to do this, is not that huge of a issue but often almost daily yeah by the end of the day my feets are tired and exhausted of shoes and is not like I put my shoes super tight at all just normal shoe laces.... thanks

One of the very first symptoms i had was vision loss and swelling in my right foot. At first it was intermittent, but now it's chronic. Elevating my leg, applying cold has not worked for me.

Hi Dr.Boster..Thank you for this video.. I had no idea that swollen legs/feet could be related to MS.. at the moment I have not been diagnose with this but doctors have told me I have lymphedema in my left bad leg for over 10 yrs.. i have been hospitalized several times for cellulitis in my bad leg and now i suffer from severe migraines, fatigue and numbness in my fingers and legs.. i also get spasticity in my legs when i try to walk even short distances my legs muscles tighten so much that many times i have to stop and take a break or stop walking all together.. i get what i believe is lhermitte's sign which is the shock of pain that shoots down your neck when you flex it at a certain angle and radiates down to my limbs.. i will finally be getting a brain and spinal MRI with contrast next week as my migraines and pain in my body are causing me to take time off from work n i dont feel well enough to even work most days.. i get over heated, my eye lids twitch and have a strange out of body experience as a onset symptom before my migraine starts.. im also having bladder issues causing me to have mild leakage yet my bladder n kidneys were normal when seen on a ultrasound.. im hoping doctors can figure out what is causing my migraines and the pain throughout my body so I can get the treatment i need.. also wondering if anyone on here has experienced these symptoms but has not yet been properly diagnosed?

I find that the weather contributes to how my body feels. In the summer, with increased humidity my foot will swell.
I massage the foot and calf by using a massage gun. Sometimes, applying cold helps. Elevating the foot for about an hour
helps during the day. At night, I use a thick pillow, under the foot.

This is something I deal with in the Summer or heat months the most for some reason. I hydrate, stay mobile, active and keep and anti-inflammatory diet, I think those things help. I usually massage the foot and remove anything restricting, like a sock.
I however just started getting swelling in my fingers!? It seems like the same can likely happen in the fingers, based on your information. Just one or two fingers on one hand will look like cocktail sausages and be mostly Immobile, which isn't fabulous.
Also, Dr Boster, the swelling takes place on the side opposite most of the regular symptoms, in my good leg. Everything tends to occur on my left side with exception of swelling and hot leg, which is odd, swelling will be minimal on my left but moderate on my Right.
I make sure I remove socks, and I use a massage tool at night to help relieve tightness.
I also take Vitamin D with Potassium for absorption, but the potassium is heart healthy too.
I also will do yoga as well to get stretched out. I am changing my diet next week and eager to see how it affects some of these symptoms.

Last year I had swelling in my right foot. I began walking like crazy in the trails hubby made on the property. The walking wasn’t super easy like a sidewalk so it was all over exercise with my walker for safety. The swelling went away fairly quickly and my shoes fit again

I have been wondering about this! My bad leg is usually slightly swollen and red after I go on a walk, not from inactivity. It goes away when I elevate it. I assumed it was due to my leg not getting the right signals from my nervous system?
