also talking about EV's, there's some amazing thing that siliXcon did with angethegreat engine simulator which is basically using it to make sound for a EV dirt bike(also to make it feel like a combustion engine by simulating stuff and controlling acceleration), it's actually so GOOD, imagine having a car that can sound like any other car accurately, man cant wait to drive a tiny hatchback sounding like a ferrari or accelerating like a muscle car lmao
man i love hillclimb cars, many are electric which is interesting but it actually makes sense, bcs with electric motors you have all the torque as soon as you step on the pedal so freaking cool
I think it is a bit late for Chinese cars to really enter the US landscape. Japanese cars became popular due to the Oil Crisis in the 1970's, and remained there. Meanwhile, Korean brands have been making a hard charge to be good, and people have been noticing after about 20 years of mediocrity. China is also a very different market overall as well, so if they were in the states, they would be incredibly niche.
Not sure why Chinese brands would even want to expand to the US, since their Chinese domestic market already reaches 20% of the world's population. Trying to make anything to comply with US regulations is a lot of effort with little gains as domestic US will always have an advantage over imported.
I suspect that if China really wanted to have a major presence in the US or Euro market, the play would be to buy US or Euro companies. The playing filed is not level for them and is not likely to change in their favor very much. China clearly has the tech knowledge and skill but they have so much political baggage that the quality of their cars is not going to be what drives sales. I think. And as somebody else mentioned, China doesn't really need to sell to the western markets for financial reasons since their own domestic market is so large. Some of the vehicles they currently make might do well here, if we could buy them and use them on public roads. One of the tiny EV trucks would work pretty well for about 90% of what I need a vehicle for. Decent grocery getter and occasional lumber hauler. Long distance travel? No. My only real issue with EVs in general is this apparent idea that they must replace all ICE vehicles for every use. This one size fits all approach is not the better way to do this I think. This particular build today was fun to watch, thanks! I am not sure how many EVs I want to make in Automation or Beam because I get a lot of enjoyment from the engine sounds to want to give that up. I did build a tour vehicle thing a while back and something like that might be fun to build as an EV. So the tourists sitting in it could hear the tour guide better...hmm.
I fully expect EV prices to go up actually. Not in terms of the vehicle itself, but electricity prices are set to spike while gas prices will be kept artificially low. Even a plug-in hybrid doesn't look like the best choice right now for most use cases. But I don't understand why we don't have hybrids as the default at this point. Even on high power vehicles, the regen braking advantage is so significant, I genuinely don't understand why we still make non-hybrids.
The problem with a total EV conversion at the moment, or rather two major problems, is a mixture of battery technology not being there yet and the US power grid being nowhere near capable of handling the stress a mass adoption of EV's would put on it. Best case, we'd have to put up a lot of fossil fuel power plants to get immediate stress relief, and that's only after every other part of the grid is upgraded/rebuilt. That kind of defeats the purpose of adopting EVs if the cause is "to be green." As for the first, current batteries are absolutely abysmal at energy density and longevity. Real working people can't afford for their car to total itself every 7-8 years because the batteries get so far gone that it might not even function correctly. I grew up in the poverty belt in the Midwest, I saw people running the same nuggets into the ground for 10+ years to get to their jobs and back home. I've moved back now when not travelling (land is dirt cheap, cost of living is essentially free, I own multiple properties, built my own home and workshops, and have hundreds of acres, most rented to farmers), and, well, being poor didn't magically disappear and people still need cheap nuggets to drive. The problem is zero influencers and politician pushing a swap actually understand or have lived in poverty. When they hear middle class, they think a household making closer to 100k a year before taxes and everything else, not 20k.

You ought to build a "proper" Hill climb car with an insane amount of power
My family's had a grand caravan since as long as I remember, and seeing Ruby (she is also red) in such pristine condition is good feels. thanks man
Hell yeah, for the rig build.

so freaking cool
that and no loss of oxygen at altitude ;)
@@GabenHood And easier placement/balancing of weight with the batteries and motors
plz do like a rear engine kei car with 1L v6
like honda s660 that will be so funny
