There's a big difference between "scandals", which are embarrassing and/or immoral entanglements, and CRIMES, which many of these people committed. Calling rape convictions a "scandal" minimizes the seriousness of the crime and suffering the victim endured.
That is how it is unfortunately they will always minimize suffering of rape sexual assault victims. And the fact that most of them didn't see jail sentence

I disagree. The two terms are not mutually exclusive or that "scandal" lessens the crime. "Scandal" includes all aspects of the effects of a crime and not just the crime itself. For instance the "Watergate Scandal" does not lessen the actual crimes commited by Nixon and his aids, it just encompasses all the affects of those crimes like the opinions of common people, the press, and international relations.

That didn't start with TMZ but goes back hundreds of years. "Scandal" covers things from the comparatively trivial to deadly serious as well. Always had.
It's crazy the amount of things R. Kelly did and he got the same sentence Masterson just got. That guy should be in jail for life.

The thing that ticks me off though, is that this is like the rich people thing. They have done this for forever and still do it now. But only these celebs get in trouble for it because they are in the public eye. Lame! Kevin Spacey was found not guilty on all charges, so he isn't guilty. I really feel bad for him. So many people were willing to believe everyone that came out with allegations for the #Metoo, which fair enough, a lot were true. But his career and life were destroyed and even after being found innocent, it doesn't correct the damage done.

@@MonyXChan not true. And it wasn't only one court he was found not guilty in. Havey Weinsteen, Donald Trump, Bill Cosby, etc. Just because someone is accused, it doesn't make them guilty either. In the US, you are supposed to be innocent until proven guilty. That doesn't seem to happen.

Some of them are, but there are cases (at least one I can think of), which wasn't a crime, just a case of saying controversial things-aka a scandal.
I really feel for Masterson's victims. He has scarred them forever, and their lives will never be the same, despite karma finally catching up to him.

About Kevin Spacey being absolved by the judicial system- I'll be honest, i was molested by a man as a child, and there are ways of talking about the issue, that is unique to predators. Not to imply, that I'm a predator detector, but there are tell tale signs.
There's also him being close, friendly and a regular at Bryan Singer's parties, which are known to have tweens for his fellow pedo guests to molest. People like Roland Emerich who was known to be a regular at those parties and denied ever touching any of the children offered- no one believes him just for being there. Those parties had hundreds of guests that include many celebrities and powerful producers who'll protect Kevin Spacey and Bryan Singer to protect themselves.

Somehow, this man isn’t behind bars to this day and he only served like I think 3 years, which is not enough for ruining that kid’s life.
Edit; I looked it up and he was originally gonna serve 3 years, but he only served 15 months. Again, not enough and he deserved life in prison.

I remember that Lance Armstrong originally was the guest star in an episode of Arthur where Mrs. McGrady was battling cancer. After his scandal, they redid the cancer episode and replaced him with a fictional professional wrestler.

I hate it when people use "allegedly" because we have the evidence of their wrongdoing, and I don't give a fuck if the justice system thinks it's not enough evidence. If there's evidence at all, then it should be eligible for a conviction.

I despise Trump, and even I think Griffin crossed the line. I also don't believe for a single second that Trump actually gives a hard boiled egg fart whether or not Barron was traumatized by the ordeal.
What made it worse was that was during the time ISIS was committing acts of violence and terrorism. People claimed her joke resembled ISIS methods of ki*ling people and felt it was very insensitive to victims.
Trump whines ad nauseam about this “witch hunt” because they are prosecuting him for crimes they have evidence he actually committed, but what happened to Kathy Griffin after the photo was a real witch hunt. He directed his DoJ to have her prosecuted for conspiracy to assassinate the president. That’s INSANE, all because his feelings were hurt. What she did was distasteful, sure. Over the line, of course. Illegal? No. Which is why they didn’t really have a case against her and why she’s still a free woman.

Just one reason WHY you should NEVER totally give in to celebrity worship - when once-respected/idolized figures finally have their darkest secrets come out, either from themselves or their victims, you are just as much a victim for having fallen head over heels for them in the first place.
