There’re times to be strict and there’re times to chill. You have to find that little balance in your life, bc otherwise you’re child will have even harder times opening up to you.
Finally someone else putting out the message.... Be a PARENT not a friend! Kids have friends, they NEED parents! You can be a strict parent, with love and encouragement. There is nothing wrong with telling your child "NO!"
You need to be a friend with your kid because being strict doesn’t mean the parents need to treat her like their treat her. She felt stuck and she never have opinion or a say… She was a “child” but she could think by her on. I don’t blame her because her parents have some fault to.
@@joselopes2269 No, a parent is a PARENT. You can be strict, but you do it with love. Yes, your child should have a voice, and a parent should listen. Yes, the parents in this story were hard on their daughter, and they should have listened to her, but not letting her go out to wild parties... my parents wouldn't have let me either....and my time of youth, was a lot wilder time in the US... the 70's.

@@angelamartin7535 Yes, like you said! I'm from the '70s, so I know. A female calling her friend, girlfriend, was never meant in any way shape or form romantic.
@jasonericktjioenanta9046 Exactly what I said. They should be going to Prison, not jail. People often say jail, but jail and prison are not the same. Jail is where you go for a year or less, and it is much softer than prison. Prison is where you go long-term. The murderer should go to prison, not jail.
What a silly statement. Rochelle is responsible for this. Many people have had over protective parents and didn't put themselves in harms way. she chose to lie and she put herself in that predictment. Plus the mother didn't give the guy a gun to shoot her daughter. What a ridiculous statement.
Parents need to practise being strict without being controlling. My parents were strict too but they let my sisters and I go places we wanted to go as long as they were good places with wholesome activities. They wanted us to have fun, but according to the values with which they were raising us, it needed to be the right kind of fun.
Yes! I had a friend in that situation. Even during her early 20s her parents will tried to control and baby her. Eventually she began making poor decisions and becoming a rebel out of frustration.
Omg this why I cannot stand parents that are like too damn strict for their beliefs and taking too far I thought my dad was bad but this one takes the cake
And honestly, I blame the parents for what happened there, huddling her up at home, hiding her from the world, not letting her go anywhere now. That's just abuse if you ask me, so if you don't want that answer, go ask someone else if you know me.
Exactly, letting them have a little freedom isn't about parities and boys. It's about learning how to make responsible choices and take care of themselves in the real world as adults. @WhiskyHd it was mainly the other woman's fault. She said it was a slumber party and she would be watching, not a full blown party and see was nowhere in sight. Yeah the dead girl's parents were too strict but it wasn't their fault she got killed.
@Nezby Odella They're both at fault but in different ways. I agree, that the other girl's mom should have done a better job at supervision and firmly setting rules as her daughter is still a minor. However, Rochelle's parents treating her like a 3-year-old and without listening to her isn't good either. Kids need some form of independency for their development and learning to stand on their own two feet. Kids who are denied this will do anything and everything to rebel and push away from their parents. Even if it means making poor decisions.
@WhiskyHd . True but her parents we're just trying to keep her safe and the one time they actually let her go alone, look what happened. Like I said, I know her parents we're too strict but in this case, strictness would have definitely saved her life

You see she starting to resent them because of it
A parent must always look out for their child. But when they get old enough to understand what the world is, they need to learn and live. Also a child doesn’t always have to follow their parents footsteps, they can always live their lives how every they see fit. And always come up with an emergency plan to protect them.
This was a very tragic event 16 years old dead at a house party. This happens for real the mother should have monitored who was coming into her house but sometimes this backfire. I learned one thing about house parties back in the day other people will invite their other friends which are toxic sometimes. Rochelle death was a tragic shame. @WhiskyHd they werent rude or abusive. they are parents, adults. 16 years old is still a kid, you do what your parents tell you to, you belong to them.
Don't act like Regina George's "cool mom". But don't be controlling and make them feel like prisoners either. Allow them some independency but sit them down and talk to them about right vs wrong, set boundaries and allow your child to ask any questions and communicate stuff to you.
@@Sand-witch05 what I'm trying to say is that if you have the need to treat your child as a slave then you are no real parent just a coward just to make yourself to feel big and powerful. Ok bro but who asked
But don't be too strict. It only causes a child to rebel.
But also, sorry to say this, but adults do know more...they don't want their children to make the same mistakes they did. Yes, the parents in this story were hard on their daughter, and they should have listened to her, but not letting her go out to wild parties... my parents wouldn't have let me either....and my time of youth, was a lot wilder time in the US... the 70's.
@@LadyDragonsblood I agreed. But when I say the parent need to be a friend is in the way like… The children when have some problems and instead talk with a friend or someone else goes and talk with their mother or father. This new generation is to complicated and is not like in yours on 70s or 80s like mine… we need to more clever with this kids because they have everything with this technologies. @@christygruber2283 Oh I agree, they made a lot of bad mistakes. I was commenting on the fact that Parents should be parents, not friends.

@@JustinMacri007 It isn’t technically child abuse I don’t think but it isn’t right. It won’t keep that child in your arms. It will only push them far away and make them take unnecessary risks.

@jasonericktjioenanta9046 Exactly what I said. They should be going to Prison, not jail. People often say jail, but jail and prison are not the same. My parents were strict too but they let my sisters and I go places we wanted to go as long as they were good places with wholesome activities. They wanted us to have fun, but according to the values with which they were raising us, it needed to be the right kind of fun.

Keeping your kid locked in the house and controlling their every move is setting them up for failure.

We have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.The Bible says in Romans 6:23 for the wages of sin is DEATH but the free gift is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. We must turn away from our sins and repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, we must become born again meaning brand new to see the Kingdom of Heaven. I don't know any mother who wouldn't have punched Tasha in the mouth for blaming the mom for her own daughter's death
@WhiskyHd it was mainly the other woman's fault. She said it was a slumber party and she would be watching, not a full blown party and see was nowhere in sight. Yeah the dead girl's parents were too strict but it wasn't their fault she got killed.
@Nezby Odella
They're both at fault but in different ways.

A parent must always look out for their child. But when they get old enough to understand what the world is, they need to learn and live. Also a child doesn’t always have to follow their parents footsteps, they can always live their lives how every they see fit. And always come up with an emergency plan to protect them.
Her parents are too strict
Agreed! Those parents are too strict but the other mother is too lose and irresponsible.
This was a very tragic event 16 years old dead at a house party. This happens for real the mother should have monitored who was coming into her house but sometimes this backfire. I never trusted outside people even family sometimes around my kids.
