I read somewhere that in canon its OG name was indeed Korriband, but because of conflicts and loss of old texts, it has been mistranslated to Moraband.

+Justin McGuire ikr, valley of the dark lords was one of the main things that kept it up. Some decent antagonists with a badass factor. Aswell as giving some history to the antagonist. I doubt they have anything more intressting in terms of characters but maybe disney will prove us wrong.

thetoughguy jr. That was a thousand years before Darth Sidious. Bane founded the rule of 2, stating there must only be 2 sith alive at a time. He took an apprentice and passed his knowledge down, then that apprentice took another, the apprentice usually killing the master to take their place. Eventually it was Darth Plaguies who took an Apprentice Darth Sidious, Sidious eventually killed his master and took Darth Maul.

In the comics Han and leia had twins one being Ben(in TFA kylos name is really Ben solo) Han loses the millennium falcon on jakku and rey was left on jakku, what's to say rey and kylo aren't twins or siblings?
I always thought Dooku Ordered the creation of the Clones using Dias' name. After all he died at the right time and Jango Fett said it was Tyrannus (Dooku) who hired him to be the original for the clone DNA

I could care less about Disney's changes for the pre-movie canon. None of the stuff that Disney is implementing, wether it be the new tv show or new movies, have any effect on the pre-movie lore, such as events in the Old Republic era.

Also if you think about it KOTOR 1 and 2 as well as TOR are technically still cannon, 1 because TOR is an ongoing game, 2 the're owned by Bioware which is owned by EA which holds the rights to oficial Star wars cannon when it comes to games, if thats the case than a crap-ton of other EU content is still cannon, mainly pre-KOTOR stuff, like Dawn of the Jedi, since it's talked about a lot troughout TOR and KOTOR 1 and 2

While this was incredibly useful information and I did enjoy seeing parallels between the old and new EU (as it applies to the Old Republic era), I still can't help but cringe at how much has been lost to what I've taken to calling the "Great Disney Purge". Hopefully, writers will either find a way to return some fan-favorite EU lore, such as the KotOR series and characters, or else fill up those bygone centuries with all new, but equally interesting stories.
As a side note, though, "Moraband" is and shall always remain Korriban in my mind. The two are essentially the same world, so much so that the Wookieepedia article on Korriban refers to Moraband as its canon counterpart. In keeping with the "Purge" symbolism, I like to think of this renaming as similar to the renaming of Coruscant to Imperial Center; the records can call it what they will, but it'll always have one true name to me.

I don't understand how they can just claim so many awesome part of the old republic non canon. Either they will ignore the part totally now, reclaim it canon or they will try to make their own stories about the old republic and thinking of the awesomeness of the old republic era and all fan love their new own stories will be trash for many and they will be forced to dump the era for good or reclaim it Canon. This is the three most plasuible things that may happen to this era.
A fourth alternative can be that they make their own stories and somehow the stories will be even more popular as the old ones and no one will have problems with them replacing stuff such as the events of Kotor... No, not gonna happen...

+Rogue Qall Yeah, I completly understand the argument and since I wrote this comment a few weeks back I have thought of it. There was a lot of bullshit in the expanded universe. Mostly the parts ranging around the movies like The Han and Leia romance novels like you said. Also I am glad that Palpatines clones isn't canon anymcause that ruined one of the best sci-fi conclussions ever with saying "This was just bullshit and didn't matter because ha had an army of clones which he could use whenever he wanted." But The old republic, the books, games and comics from that period... wow. It is just so epic and awesome and I know that if they try to replace it it will be rampage so it will be likely that they bring big parts of it back. Or they just ignore it.
Hopefully characters such as Revan and Meetra Surik will be canon once again. And perhaps even an own movie about if we are real lucky but this is probably mostly wishes from my side. Diseny can change it comepletely.
Also some of the books and the new movies I must say that it is a really good job and they have really given me hope to that diseny didn't ruin the Star Wars EU. Also when I was thinking of the EU before it was mainly the Old Republic Era then I read a lot of the other comics and books and my opinion on the EU wasn't quite the same again.
Now I have been writing to much, I am just thinking loud and writing while I think so it may get a little fucked up.

Because even though I'm totally cool with the re-canonisation (is that even a word?) of Star Wars under Disney... my favourite Star Wars material other than the original trilogy are EU books and games. The Old Republic is no doubt the best aspect of the EU and my favourite books are the Darth Bane trilogy.
But, it doesn't matter what material is re-categorised, no one can take away the books and games I already own, I can enjoy them over and over again at any time. That frees me up to enjoy all the new material Disney are putting out too. Also, I'm actually looking forward to seeing how the Old Republic and Darth Bane will be re-written as new. If I don't like it, who cares? I can go back and enjoy the versions I like.

Yes that is so true. Revan will alwasy be my favorite character even though they would replace him with a new guy who is basiclly the same guy just witha slightly diffrent in story and name (The change from Ajunta Pall to The unnamed jedi master who left the order)

The so called "New Canon" is so stupid, the story of the Sith getting their name from a race that they enslaved on Koraban, and the whole Old Republic era, and all of the history of the lightsaber and such... I don't understand why Disney must take all works other than the ones that they bought untrue.

Well legends wasn’t exactly perfect but yeah I get it. Disney is doing a decent job but I’m going to judge it when we get all the old republic redone. They can still salvage it. They could still bring back the sith species as they’ve barely touched that period of time. Instead they keep going to the 420 republic… I mean the high republic. Joking aside I hope they handle the old republic well.

the Sith came from another world within the region that became known as the Sith Empire, the sith species actually come from Dromund Kass and settled Ziost and buried their dead on Korriban, the dark Jedi simply liked the name sith so they took it, enslaved the sith and crowned themselves Sith Lords.....

but a dark jedi isnt necessarily a sith
+xenoization I'm not sure exactly how it worked in the old EU, but in the new canon, a Dark Jedi isn't necessarily a Sith, nor is a Sith necessarily a Dark Jedi. But many of the first Sith were Dark Jedi, so the confusions is understandable. But Asage Ventress, for example, was being trained to be a Sith Apprentice under Dooku, but she was never a Jedi, so she would have been pure Sith. And Baris Opree, was a Dark Jedi, a Jedi who fell to the darkside, but was not associated with the Sith.

Darth Bane was killed by his apprentice not the Jedi , that is unless Disney killed that fact. The misnamed Sith home world was covered earlier in the comments section. nevertheless, good job. I hope to see your channel grow. Think about doing a few episodes on the various different intelligent species. Grouping less important together in groups of 10 to 20 per episode and grouping the more interesting ones in 3 to 10 per episode. Eventually creating an species encyclopedia of sorts when completed.
That's a good idea, I'll keep that in mind. Disney did eliminate all of bane's backstory in the new canon. He is still canon but the details of his life and darth zannah are not. They may be reintroduced in the future but the details will likely change.

This "new canon" is so lame and shallow compared to "legends" that I think they should change the names around. Legends should be called "The Extended History of the Star Wars Universe" and the canon should be called "Idiot's Guide to Skywalker's Saga"

Well, thanks to J. J. Abrams, we won't see the new Republic, nor the new Jedi order, but rather the recycled plot of episode 4 combined with tons of shitty and meaningless action. Episode 7 ruined Star Wars.

*SPOILER ALERT (for those who haven't seen it yet)*
The plot was the same as that of episode IV: the bad guys need some information that's in a droid (and, for some reason, that droid can't just e-mail it to the rebels/resistance/whatever) and the good guys try to protect it from the bad guys. Then, the bad guys reveal a huge battle station and the good guys find its weakness (which exists because... reasons) and blow it up. By the way, why weren't the shields more heavily guarded? It seemed like a five-year-old kid could have easily sneaked into the control room and deactivated them.
The entire movie was nothing but mindless action; no one bothered to explain anything. People were just running, shooting, jumping and hitting other people all the time while shit was exploding everywhere. At one point, I was wondering whether this was Star Wars or Transformers.
The movie had almost no dialogue, no romance, no political background and no exposition of any kind. They just told us what the First Order was in a sentence and then we saw some pussy with anger issues leading Stormtroopers and killing some people.
Speaking of Kylo Ren, why was he wearing a mask? He clearly didn't need to, since he took it off at one point and nothing happened. Did they just make him wear it because Vader wore one?
Back to the plot. So Luke trained some Jedi and then, for some reason, Han's son turned to the Dark Side and was able to kill them all, even though he was so weak that a random girl with no Jedi training (by the way, how the fuck did she just suddenly start using the Force without ever being taught anything about it?) beat him in a duel. And then, instead of killing him, Luke just ran away... again, for some reason. What the fuck?!
Ok, what else... oh yeah! All these elements from the originals that they shoved there just because the people like them... How pathetic! They did, however, change everything else: the entire style of the movie is so different that it doesn't feel like Star Wars at all; it just feels like a generic action movie for twelve-year-old boys.
And let's talk about Han for a moment: why did he go back to smuggling shit around the Galaxy after becoming a war hero? Couldn't he have used his new status to try to help building the new Republic or at least lead a better life? And, well, since we aren't told anything, I don't even know if there was a new Republic (apparently not); did the First Order rule the Galaxy like the Empire did or was it just some random military organization like the Trade Federation? They say that it ''arose from the ashes of the Empire'', but we have no idea how, nor who formed it and for what reason and under what circumstances. We have no idea who the Supreme Leader Snoke is nor what he was trying to accomplish.
But here's the worst part: there were SO MANY great fan-made stories (mainly the ones on Wookieepedia) that could have been used instead of this shit! So much potential was wasted! And now, all those stories go into the garbage and this ridiculous, poorly written, lazy and boring plot becomes the official version of events! Those truly are dark times (haha, get it?) for the Star Wars universe!

One thing that always bugged me was how people loved this movie but hated the prequels when the prequels had more originality and better villains (Darth maul) to the likes of the not so inspired villains of this movie (kylo-ren). But I'm not gonna lie when I say as it being just a pop corn flick with your mind shut off its a pretty fun ride.

Kathleen Kennedy has the creative authority over the Stars IP. Episode 7 specifically was written by Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan, with Lucas credited as a consultant.

Hang on, in "Darth Bane: Dynasty of Evil" Bane is killed by his apprentice- Darth Zannah -and not by the Jedi as the video states. Is that fact no longer cannon, or does the video mistakenly report Banes death?
The Bane books are no longer canon, but I overstated the jedi's role in his death, so far we don't know who killed him, only that the jedi defeated him. New canon hasn't gone into it yet.
They should just bring back banes books as canon favorite book trilogy for me in EU
