Thank you for this presentation! I'll be looking deeper into all your references and website. Thank you for the research you and your team are doing on this. It's so satisfying to come across medical and scientic information about the ketogenic diet, and not just another fat bomb recipe video. Thank you, from someone who is trying to understand why ketosis works so well with my many conditions. This video helped explain a lot. Thanks, Crossfit, for letting Dr. D'Agostino present!

This guy is the real deal, very knowledgeable. I noticed he slipped in the words "or no carb diet..."

If being a fat burner on keto can keep the fat sick person that has lived inside me for 25 years at bay. Imagine what it can do for a Navy Seal!

Do you agree to take ketones powder during fasting in order to get into ketosis faster? And if yes, what brand/company do you use? Thank you!

Hi Sheila, he recently did a podcast with Koncrete and on Tools of The Titans audiobook he discusses using exogenous ketones to bring people into ketosis quicker. Apologies I can't remember the brand but he definitely uses them. Also MCT oil powder as its more gut soluble than pure MCT oil. He also mentioned recently that he stays away from meat proteins and dairy a bit more, although he does consume a little bit. He also consumes offel. Hope this helps. I'm currently in ketosis myself and have some clients working with it for endurance sports and some for inflammatory issues.

at 38:45, he probably means: "from a normal cell to a bad (or cancerous) cell...
And somehow, just after saying it, he probably realizes this 'glitch', yet goes on...

It's what happens to bears when they hibernate. Ketoadaption keeps them alive and well keeps them free of disease.

I am in ketosis right now due to my keetogenic diet. I wonder whether the diet as it's high fat affects my cell membranes negatively? I think we need more unsaturated fats in our KD than saturated fats. Does anyone have any science papers backing my thoughts? Thanks.

If all this data is based on people with current metabolimic problems, what about the people who are absent of disabilities?
Its like someone taking prescription medication to prevent medical problems.
Why would the average person do a keto diet, if the "benefits" are based on subjects who are already compromised?

      Some other reasons may include:
      - enhancing performance
      - increasing endurance
      - reducing inflammation
      - preventing cancer

It's been shown to also kill pre cancerous cells. There have been no negative effects when carried out correctly, so I'd say its more like eating healthy even though you're not obese more so than taking a prescribed medication.

Does Dr. D'Angostino appear metabolically challenged to you? Disabled in some way?
      I rest my case.

Why is this being shared at a confrence, where the predominant focus is on anaerobic energy system work?
I cant imagine many crossfit athletes have alzheimers, diabetes, or cancer.
Plus, the idea of removing carbohydrates from someones diet, who is doing a LOT of glycolytic work, is puzzling.
How many athletes are doing keto diets?
