So, while I'm sure it does cost more to send than it is monetarily worth, I think that the guild keeping it would be pretty bad PR. Actually, after some quick web research, one has to pay enough in dues to even be in SAG that I don't think they even have an excuse not to send you what you're owed. The guild is making money regardless.
LMAO my dad is also a SAG member and he often plays smaller parts and every time he gets a check we all make bets on how little it is. Whoever's guess is closest wins! Bragging rights and nothing else because we're poor 😂

I've been following his online content since 2008. I knew he was a writer, but none of his books had been translated in my language so none of the book stores in my hometown had them. You should try reading it if/when you're able. It might surprise you, hopefully you'll understand why she loved it so much. I loved it too, when I read it in HS it spoke to me in a way that no other book had at that point. Some books you read and think that was fun, others you think I'm so glad I read that. This is one of those books.

Your the best John! 😂 this made my day lol I read your book way back in the day, and loved it, considering I'm not a big reader thats an accomplishment all on its own. But when it was made into a movie I was very excited to see Hazel-grace in 3d lol I told my best friend that we would have to go together, unfortunately he didn't make it to the release of the movie. He had brain cancer, had been invincible for 16years after being told his life was changed forever. He relearned how to talk and walk and he was truly the biggest inspiration in my life, and one of the people I cared about most in the world. I went to watch the movie with my 2 other besties only a few hours after his memorial. Then finding you on the internet so many years later fills my heart, you are an amazing soul, and hilarious! Just thank you for being you, you have made a huge impression on my life, and seeing little 1 min snippets of you are awesome, even the TB content! Lol 😁
Sometimes, I don't do research. Because Sometimes, just sometimes, you get surprised by the results. Even humbled. I genuinely had no idea who John was. I discovered his channel from Hank's channel. And had absolutely no clue that John was an author until now. I liked this channel for John being a quirky guy that explained stuff. And I deal with a lot of mental health issues. Suicide being one. John's short where he talked about hope. And referenced Emily Dickinson, moved me to teats. I know John will probably never see this. he didnt write it though. he was paid by the publisher so they could sell the book, by the stores to have it there, the royalties from customers, etc etc. but the movie was likely either a percentage of profits or a flat amount to develop into a movie. he likely had little to no impact on the script besides editing it for his original vision. he wrote the book, some other guy wrote the movie.

They could've cut down his lines or gave him a non-speaking role/cameo. It's pretty common in the industry for authors to make appearances in their works, Stephen King is a great example of this. I love him, but he's not winning any Oscar's lol. I would be upset if I asked to be in my movie and worked hard on set to give my best take just to he cut out. Doesn't mean I'd throw a fit about it

I've been following his online content since 2008. I knew he was a writer, but none of his books had been translated in my language so none of the book stores in my hometown had them. I was really happy that the fault in our stars made it so big, because suddenly his books were everywhere and I finally could read his books.
How are people still today years old when they learn this?

You should try reading it if/when you're able. It might surprise you, hopefully you'll understand why she loved it so much. I loved it too, when I read it in HS it spoke to me in a way that no other book had at that point. Some books you read and think that was fun, others you think I'm so glad I read that. This is one of those books.

Thats like my songwriting credit the checks i get cost more to cash than the value of them so i found a perfectly sized box for them. I made fun of a customer rapping while i repaired his drum machine and he used the line so i got a writing credit.

Your the best John! 😂 this made my day lol I read your book way back in the day, and loved it, considering I'm not a big reader thats an accomplishment all on its own. But when it was made into a movie I was very excited to see Hazel-grace in 3d lol I told my best friend that we would have to go together, unfortunately he didn't make it to the release of the movie. He had brain cancer, had been invincible for 16years after being told his life was changed forever. He relearned how to talk and walk and he was truly the biggest inspiration in my life, and one of the people I cared about most in the world. I went to watch the movie with my 2 other besties only a few hours after his memorial. Then finding you on the internet so many years later fills my heart, you are an amazing soul, and hilarious! Just thank you for being you, you have made a huge impression on my life, and seeing little 1 min snippets of you are awesome, even the TB content! Lol 😁

And had absolutely no clue that John was an author until now. I liked this channel for John being a quirky guy that explained stuff. And I deal with a lot of mental health issues. Suicide being one. John's short where he talked about hope. And referenced Emily Dickinson, moved me to teats. I know John will probably never see this. he didnt write it though. he was paid by the publisher so they could sell the book, by the stores to have it there, the royalties from customers, etc etc. but the movie was likely either a percentage of profits or a flat amount to develop into a movie. he likely had little to no impact on the script besides editing it for his original vision. he wrote the book, some other guy wrote the movie.

@@sparkydoggo8691 I think you're taking "mad" too literally. I really don't think it would've taken that much effort for the director to get a usable take from him. They could've cut down his lines or gave him a non-speaking role/cameo. It's pretty common in the industry for authors to make appearances in their works, Stephen King is a great example of this. I love him, but he's not winning any Oscar's lol.
I would be upset if I asked to be in my movie and worked hard on set to give my best take just to he cut out. Doesn't mean I'd throw a fit about it

I'm from Czech republic and every time I saw the movie, the airport scene was included so it's kinda crazy to me that it was cut out of the original, maybe not in my country. I always thought the scene was very wholesome.
