I've got the same Koken, and I'm extremely satisfied with it. The finish is impeccable, and all the internal tollerances are tight and function very smoothly. I wasn't sure about the size and handle feel when I first saw it, but after using it, I immediately liked it. It's definitely a high-end ratchet. They make the smoothest I've ever used.
@@shadow7796 That's exactly what I thought. I'm sold on them, I'm going to purchase a few more items. I'm really liking the nut grip stuff. The Tone ratchets really surprised me as well with the quality vs price, not as refined as the Koken but really good value and performance.
Have owned my Z ratchets for several years now and still have not a single bad thing to say. The only thing I can tell you that you wouldn't immediately notice out of the box is that they are way stronger than their action makes them out to feel. I haven't broken any of mine yet and I have put quite a bit of abuse through them. I have both lengths of 1/4 and 3/8 and they all have their uses. My co-workers were big snap-on guys and I saw ratchets from all different generations, I could never understand the justification in price or why they liked them so much. I always looked at (and still do) look at snap-on as the hip 'designer bag/purse' of the automotive world
@@bpastorb That's it in a nutshell, for price to performance I don't think Koken can be beat. The quality is amazing the price is realistic the features beat snap on it's a no brainer. I do love watching the channels that test tools to destruction but a ratchet can't purely be based on its breaking point. It has to feel comfortable to use and do it's job well, the Koken with an added nut spinner can easily put perform any ratchet on bolt removal.
@MaxPower-nk9sn me too, appreciate it now I'm older. Seen a fake watch site saying fake rolex are better than real thing as they use Seiko movement. Lol These are exciting times, as Japanese designed and Chinese made robots are being shipped to cheap manufacturing countries.
@@puterg0d I haven't tried them out but I'd say they are really good like most Snap on tools. Have you tried out any Koken Ratchets? I'd highly recommend them, the low back drag is lovely on them. Very comfortable to use also. For the price I think they would be hard to match. I just got my hands on a Gearwrench 120xp I'll be doing a review of that soon, I'll be taking it apart also to compare it with my Sata 120xp.
@@zacs8654 Money definitely goes further with the Koken, Snap on are great but for the money I think Koken are hard to beat. I'll definitely be adding more to the tool box.
@@jcoul1sc I wasn't aware they have a lifetime warranty, that makes them even better. Super tools for the price, very happy with both the Koken and Tone ratchets.
@MaxPower-nk9sn it's tool life warranty, and they want you to go back to the shop with original receipt. The ball bearing nut holding sockets are not for breaking free or final torque
@jcoul1sc I don't think I'll be claiming on any warranty so 😅 be a bit of a Journey to Japan. I wasn't aware that the Nut grip sockets were not for breaking free or final torque but it makes sense as it would probably damage the retaining ring and ball bearing.
If there was a koken dealer in UK, I'd be all over and my entire snap on box would have been full of koken. As far as im aware there os a warranty of some sorts, but i haven't had too much of a look.
@@BorisSpark I totally agree, I'm blown away by the quality of Koken tools. I'm also really impressed at Tone tools for the price and performance out of them they are hard to beat but the Koken is on another level. My personal opinion is that it's definitely the best ratchet I've ever used.
@MaxPower-nk9sn I've got few Japanese made tools and they have no competition, no one can even come close in quality of their products. My other half is currently trying to get what I want for the Christmas out of me, one of those 3/8 z-series ratchets might be on the wishlist 👀.

Japanese culture is it's made to the best ability of that maker. Koken is high end brand of another v large tool company

@jcoul1sc Seiko movements are amazing, I'd love a spring drive Grand Seiko, now that in my eyes is really better than a Rolex.
What's the parent company?
@@SlowExpensive I'm not sure they do have a parent tool company, he may be thinking of the Nepros brand which is owned by KTC
Snap-On quick release is the bees knees. I have a LOT of ratchets, and those are the best.
