I'm in love with this very same German film star. He's such a wonderful and undepreciated actor with an interesting but tough history, and he needs more love.
@@Chaos-94 I looked into it sometime after I wrote this and according to the Walk of Fame website they don't accept petitions. I didn't see anything about the money part (which is astronomical for a tile, tf!) but I also plan on writing a nomination this year!
The Spy in Black - 1939, Contraband - 1940, are my favorite Conrad Veidt movies in which he stared with Valerie Hobson, they had a great chemistry together, and i wished they had made more Movies Together.
I can see were comics, movie makers etc got the idea of what the Joker's face look like - this man was truly amazing A wonderful charismatic actor that is sadly missed today😁😁😁👍👍
Had to come back and watch this again--I simply can't get enough of him, and this is such a lovely video and a perfect song choice. My heart *still* jumps every time Jaffar and Torsten appear. :333333
Oh, this is fantastic! What a wonderful tribute to a wonderful man and an underappreciated actor. Speaking of underappreciation, I *really* love that you've included several of his talkie characters as well, because most people only ever go on about his silent movies. Even if he was breathtaking in the talkies as well--I may have let out swooning noises of appreciation every time clips of The Thief of Bagdad and A Woman's Face showed up. (Jaffar is my favourite character of his, but in AWF he gives, IMNSHO, his best performance of all time.) But, really, what a wonderful video--I really enjoyed this and will watch it again straight away:)
I meant to say at the time, I can't believe I didn't, but I know you from tumblr (paddyfitz) and have enjoyed your fics, particularly for A Woman's Face so much. You were half the inspiration for this video. And it means so much you liked it! I'm very glad you've been around in my sphere for so long, I hope you are doing well
@@ZZTopRockman I thought we *did* discuss about this way back when, so I always thought I knew you, anyway :D Really glad you've enjoyed the fics (as dark as the Devilry series did get). I'm ok, just on Pillowfort these days. Still posting Connies, but many of them members-only filtered because people keep reposting them otherwise. Hope you are well, too--I miss talking to someone intelligent such as your good self. I still come back to this video now and then because I love it so. I've actually had it recced for me twice by now, and have always said "yeah, I've seen it and I kind of know the fan who made it" :D Good stuff.
.....now then.... YOU watch this in 2018 and tell me this ain't a MASSIVE TUNE....... I remember it first time round, one of my ALL-TIME favourites, and I'm half a century old😀
These are the kind of videos I LOVE. Where I am introduced to a new actor whom I know so little about. Despite having seen Casablanca several times, I can't quite place Conrad Veidt in it. Very strange. I remember the character but I don't quite remember the face. Anyways, I think I will now (definitely) have to explore his filmography. I don't know why you didn't upload this video sooner!! It's such a wonderful tribute to an obviously very unique actor. Your song choice was genius and it worked so well with the clips you chose. I absolutely loved this, thank you so much for putting it online :)
Had a friend, innocently, rec me this today and I told him I'd already seen it a gazillion times when it first went up :) I do so love the matching you've done with the clips--"Love" over his tender and doomed romances and the clever pairing of his amazing, slowed-down dancerlike movements with "it really moved me," and all the others. This is a wonderful treat.
I've seen the Dwight Frye video for this song, and although it's wonderful, this video is quite authentic because this fine actor was truly a German film star.
I've read it somewhere that Conrad Veidt was the inspiration for Dr. N. Tropy from the Crash Bandicoot series, so i just thought i should mention it because of your profile name.
I just watched a movie last week on TCM and he was in the movie with Joan Crawford. He stole every single scene he was in with her and all his co-stars. He elevated that film from just a "B" movie to an "A". WoW sexy!
What is up with me and falling in love with DEAD people!? X'D Like, that is so totally counter productive! X'DDD My other historical crush is Masamune Date. XD
The first is Hands of Orlac, second is Different from the Others. Unless you mean the clip with the bandage round his head, that's also Hands of Orlac ☺️
Just finished watching Different From The Others...he was 21 years old. Very moving film...
Me too! Ich liebe Conrad Veidt!! Beautiful man...a most enchanting expressive face!
I'm in love with this very same German film star. He's such a wonderful and undepreciated actor with an interesting but tough history, and he needs more love.
If anyone out there wants to appreciate Conrad Veight you must see THE MAN WHO LAUGHED. Stunning
This man's eyes utterly transfix me.
Dr. Creepen! My favorite narrator and now we share a hypnotic affair with Conrad Veidt and his shadowy stare! Always good to see ya around!
Let's petition to get him a Hollywood star

Benn in love with Conrad since I saw The Spy In Black on tv one day and was mesmerised . 🥰

Uno de los más grandes actores del mundo y un hombre guapísimo, de mirada hipnótica.

Wonderful! I've been in love with this particular German film star since I was a little girl. Such a marvelous tribute to this amazing man!
Feel the same up to now
il était vraiment beau ! un grand acteur j'adore
This is wonderful, I must admit I've watched it numerous times over.
Something so delicate and refined about him.
Oh god, that little bit at the end...

The Stranger in "Passing of the Third Floor Back" gets me every time
This is really well done. Thank you for making it.

Funny. I've seen Casablanca only once and found him more intriguing than Bogart.
He was gorgeous when he was young!

The first Joker
Un actorazo ese Conrad y tambien la chica de Metrópolis (María).
1:05 what film is this scene from? he looks so beautiful 😍
With the people /clown dancing behind? It's Different from the Others 1919, only partially saved from Nazi destruction but a very moving film 😊

He would have made a good James Bond😎
@rittersternburdocks Still, it's fun to speculate.
Dear, may I know which movie footage from 3:17 to 3:20 please ?
Different from the others/Anders als die Andern ❤️
@@ZZTopRockman merci x
Can you put up the entire film from each of these movies? TH-cam doesn't have all of them, just a couple, pretty please?
harsishava I expect YT would just delete them if OP did that. Try Googling "conrad veidt films masterpost" and ye shall find, though. :)
So how does one pronounce his last name? Would it rhyme with the English words "ride" or "right"?
With german pronounciation exactly like 'fight'
ah, thanks :)
What are the films at 1:38 and 2:56??
The first is Hands of Orlac, second is Different from the Others. Unless you mean the clip with the bandage round his head, that's also Hands of Orlac ☺️
Or perhaps even Max Schreck or Klaus Kinski?
Nice video editing & long
I know he's from Denmark, but I wish this song is used with Mads Mikkelsen.
