Did you listen to the interview? There's plenty of valid reasons a person would choose to claim asylum in the UK, and legally speaking, there's absolutely no obligation to claim asylum in any other country they've passed through.

Shouldn't Lee Anderson be in his constituency, doing his best for all the people who've taken a bit of a gamble on him?
Being an MP involves discussing issues of the day. It’s not just uninformed voting and constituency work.
If they didn’t think he was allowed a few hours a week somewhere other than the House of Commons and Ashfield, they wouldn’t have returned him. He’s not a new MP. Even the prime minister said he doesn’t work Friday evenings.

I prefer the old rules where politicians were not allowed to take up media jobs. I like Lee, Nigel and Jacob etc, but I think it is problematic.

I agree. They need to show their commitment to their electorate, not money grubbing at other jobs. They need to be squeaky clean to hold their party above criticism. In just one week they have made major mistakes and are losing support. Ben Habib and now second jobs.
