You really do need to season all of the wok, raw carbon steel will rust if you do not season it.
If you are a pro chef then you probably would but for most of us who are home cooks, the spot seasoning method is more than sufficient. After using simply wash it with soap and water, dry it, heat it put a little bit of oil while heated, then off you go the pan will be good for use on the next cooking session.
I'm more afraid of rust after you scrub off all the factory chemical
There's no need since it can be easily cleaned with soap, running water and little bit of scrubbing thru a steel wool. Can be done in 3 mins or less then you can start cooking again
