  • I test three different solutions for kayak paddle drip guards. Having wet hands can allow blisters to form in a long day! Among critical fishing hacks is to avoid splash by making your fishing kayak paddle as dripless as possible. I test commercial drip rings vs the pool noodle DIY as well as using cheap duct tape as a kayak paddle drip guard. Make one of these part of your kayak fishing setup! No more paddle drip!

I think you showed the tape trick before on your channel. I saw it somewhere, and I’ve been using it and drip ring for years and it’s amazingly effective. Thanks as always Steve! 👍👍👌

Try adding wax to the paddle, either parafin wax or turtle car wax and buff it to a smooth shine. Do all three - 1. wax, 2. duct tape, 3. drip ring. Also I recently put Rain-X on the paddle which works better than spray wax.

Some times I use a single blade and it keeps my hands really dry. Another tip is to put anhydrous lanolin on you hands in the morning before you go and water will bead off your hands most of the day.

What about applying rain x to your paddle before each trip? Just a thought. Might help..

Have you thought of adding a second tape on the rod (close to the blade)?

Pool noodles work in a pinch but will get water soaked. In a different video you used some kind of spray, what happened with that stuff? Not that cost efficient or just a pain to use?

Just a thought, maybe manufacturers should develop a molded in fin or some type of channel at the base of the blade....
