    Want to know how to make your kayak paddles stop dripping water into your boat?
    After seeing this video • Easy Dripless Paddle Hack with a tip on how to reduce water dripping into the boat from the paddles, I thought I'd give it a go with what I had to hand. You might have the same things to hand :)
    Off cam I've applied two 'coats' and buffed to a shine.
    I bought the Winnerwell paddle here - amzn.to/3rXJe5M currently around £60

    Last year there was a shortage of kayaks for sale. Now you'll be seeing packs of Morrison's candles on Facebook Marketplace with a 500% mark-up on price.

    simple spray on furniture polish works for me. Has to be renewed from time to time depending on how much you paddle and what your paddle encounters, i.e. beach sand, grass, or weeds/algae in the water.

      I was thinking that would be the case as well. Expensive, but should perform much better and last a lot longer on the surface of the paddle than wax.

    • @1BlackSheep
      @1BlackSheep 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not safe for water environment it clearly states retain washing water and dispose of it properly, So not thinking it would be good for fish which is why I kayak and boat (Fishing) Carnauba and bee wax are safe and work well.

      @@1BlackSheep to dispose of the cloth used this stuff doesn't come off I'm guessing you've never used it before. It's just as safe as the plastic from the kayak you're sitting on

      I'm a gunsmith and a Cerakote dealer and applicator but ok. The product you are referring to last around 200 car washes so how does it not come off sir? Read the MSDS sheet I have.@@ThatJerkFromCali

    Quick question Karl, I'm looking into getting a different paddle for my Story Kayak as I dont rate the one that came with it. How did you decide on the Winnerwell?

    • @MoreThanJustaCleaner
      @MoreThanJustaCleaner  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question. I actually bought that thinking a longer paddle would be better for solo paddling in the Riber which is wider and has higher sides. I was wrong. The Riber is better suited to 2 people with single blade paddles.
      It was this fail that made me look for a solo drop stitch and hence my stumbling across the Story.
      I liked the Winnerwell because it's fibreglass and therefore relatively light whilst being strong.
      As it happens it's turned out to be a total win because in the wider, low pressure crafts I can now paddle them without catching the sides 👍

    Very interesting ideas. I think many paddlers would be horrified at the idea of adding WD40 to our rivers and oceans! Beeswax etc only.

    • @MoreThanJustaCleaner
      @MoreThanJustaCleaner  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Considering the WD 40 didn't really work it's not really an issue. It was more an experiment to see if it would. But to allay your concerns, there was no evidence of it 'slicking' on the surface of the water in the bath 👍😊

  • @Obliticus
    @Obliticus 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've seen others using wax with success, but the problem is that it takes a bit to properly apply and wears off rather quickly. I would think wax would be good.... if you can easily apply it. And I think you would be able to use spray-on furniture polish to do this with.

    Candles are paraffin wax and wd40 is also petroleum based both very harmful to fish and water quality. Use Carnauba or Bee's wax. After rubbing it on get a hair dryer heat up the wax and buff it in works like a charm.
