  • Hey guys!!!
Today's video is a short one, I've been scrounging for video ideas since I'm low on content and have a lot of IRL things these few weeks. Trying my hardest but videos may be a little later than usual! Now, down to bidness:
    Agenda for this week hopefully:
Skyrim Modded Adventures | Episode 10 (Done!)
    an Inigo Compilation???
    Lucien Reads...
We'll see what happens! I'm trying my hardest to get stuff out ASAP but I sadly have a lot to do since the holidays are right around the corner. Either way, enjoy!

Alright, so I get that a lot of people are going "where's this one, where's that one." Remember that there are A LOT of religions in The Elder Scrolls lore and that including them all would be waaaayy to much on the mod authors part. Remember the option saying "I don't worship the aedra..." Could mean anything other than a Divine.

The bar is on the floor here, but I really appreciate how Kaidan stays true to his own opinions and beliefs, while still being respectful of the player's without turning it into a debate. I know it's a matter of "the elves are trying to make man weaker by stopping Talos worship" but Kaidan's line about it always being the "nine divines, not the eight" gives me "Pluto IS a planet dammit" vibes and I lol.

  • @teleportedbreadfor3days

To me, Talos represents the pinnacle of the strength of men, and strength beyond just that of arms, which allowed him a rightful place amongst the Eight-turned-Nine. But they all deserve equal worship, for what they stand for. Alone, one is a tinder. The Eight are a flare. But altogether, the Nine is a beacon.

I really enjoyed that part of the mod. I'm not religious in real life, but I love to roleplay as religious characters in Skyrim because the faiths of that world are so interesting, complex and diverse!
Kaidan's answers are really good, too, and fit the characterization I'm going for really well. More options would obviously make this even better (I have quite a few DBs who follow at least one Daedric Prince or lesser known deity, and it'd be cool to get Kaidan's perspective on, say, Periyite or Ebonarm or Sithis or the Hist), but I do appreciate the content we did get.

I'm not a religious person either, far from it, to be honest. But I do enjoy the lore of Elder Scrolls gods. Also considering that they have effects for the better or worse on characters or enviroments. My characters usually worship Akatosh, Kynareth, and a daedric prince. I find the diversity interesting!

As a major elf lover, i wish there was an option that included other deities outside of the Divines, like Y'ffre, Jone and Jode, Tsun, Tu'Whacca, or even some Deadra/non-Aurbic deities worshipped as gods by other cultures like Azura, Malacath, Hircine or Sithis or even the Tribunal (although in the Fourth era i'd be hard-pressed to find anyone still following them).
I like that he refers to Talos as the "God of War". It really underlines why he's such an important Divine, especially to the Nords. He represents their fighting spirit and ambition for glory. To have that key element taken away by Elves no less, regardless of the reasons they have to impose that, is castigating the most important aspect of being a Nord.

@@StevenZissimos Well, the Nordic pantheon hasn't been around since the first era really, plus the Divines came about as a way to unite the Nedic Cyrodiillic and the Nordic pantheons to ally against the Ayleids, that's why some of the Divines are actually direct Nordic holdovers.

      @justme0910 ปีที่แล้ว +16

The lines between "god", "mortal", "saint/hero" and "unfathomable primordial being" are pretty blurry in TES, so this is debatable. The Hist definitely hold the same spiritual significance to the Argonians as gods would, but the relationship is a lot more intimate as the Argonians are not only creations of the Hist, but in constant communication with them. It helps that the Hist are physical beings that can be directly interacted with.

I wonder if being khajiit or argonian could lend him some wisdom of their ways.
Khajiit do not see a difference of aedra and daedra. They hold Azura in high regard, and follow heavily the moons. Their religion says they were made the fastest, smartest of races. The best climbers, all to ensure if the moons were to fall, they could climb the heavens and restore them. To be keepers of the lunar lattice.

(Just imagine my Argonian character is voiced by Wes Johnson's Imperial race voice)
Raajareth-Adrian Xerifsan VIII (Argonian): "You know the Nine and how they guide our fates with an invisible hand? Before I returned to Skyrim, where the birthplace of whom stands before you is to the north where the Sea of Ghosts lies under the protection of Jarl Korir, I was many things myself; including a Champion of the Nine who saw each purpose of the divines and went about what business I had today. Keeping the shrines in a Temple of the Nine when my grandfather first walked up the steps and approached the Throne of Count Arenar Goldwine, the lost son of the one we lost in the Oblivion Crisis that first began with this attack on the city, where he took notice of a escape route meant to get the castle residents and servants out into a camp for safety. That alone is not out of the ordinary, but then he saw a gate that was sealed to all but him; even Arenar and Captain Savlian Matius were unaware of it's existence, but he made use of it as have I myself when the Great War brought the Thalmor to maintain a presence in every city to the castle they had no right to be in. If anyone of them had gotten curious, I had fashioned a private torture room for my pleasure to silence them and if necessary, kill them if they have no intention of keeping true to their word of silence as this temple had Talos as apart of this chamber. Not even their common folk survived to inform them out of doing a favor in exchange for a reward of whatever you want to imagine what that would be. But I am curious myself, do you have a patron divine?"
(Akatosh): "Martin Septim knew what his sacrifice would mean, and he knows you will give this province a long kiss goodnight to rest from this Civil War that never should've been"
(Arkay): "The bane of necromancers everywhere, no doubt you've made a enemy of many to the point they are sending assassins and magic wielding mercenaries day and night after you"
(Dibella): "A lover of the arts, true beauty can be found in even the smallest entrail of what remains of the ruined city of Winterhold, As Chief Architect of Jarl Korir, I look to her to give the city new colorful life to stand out and finally have the people learn how to rebuild even when there's a war in their way. Hamal, however it seems, thinks that she is ONLY for the women to worship and will quickly kill men who find themselves in the Inner Sanctum; while forcing the women into a period of servitude as she refers to them as the uninitiated. What's stopping me from killing her is Fjotra, she has done nothing to warrant a death sentence on someone so young like her. She needs the protection from the Forsworn and she has it right here from the agent that is me"
(Julianos): "Clever as the Thalmor may believe by using Ulfric as their puppet, even Julianos can grand insight to the others and make them understand what exactly they're planning; but also in my eyes, see where their weaker points are so I can exploit them to the fullest and cause their collapse in her province"
(Kynareth): "Sky above, voice within. Kynareth may've not have a chapel of her own in Cyrodiil at the time of my grandfather from the final hours of Emperor Uriel Septim VII's life in the Imperial City Prison, but her winds that howl for the safety of her children do not go ignored. Never forget that, lad/lass... never forget"
(Mara): "A radiant light of compassion burns evermore brighter in you than it does for me because of my biased thoughts on High Elves, I spilled enough of their innocent blood but not enough of the Aldmeri Dominion and those who believe they are right in telling everyone who to believe in and who NOT to believe in. That is not their call or judgement to make, and I'm sure there are those who have created a resistance in the Summerset Isles. I'm certain of it, and their magic will surpass anything that the Thalmor and their disciples throw at them. That light is a rare sight in times of hardship like these, but I won't get lost in the dark with you here"
(Stendarr): "A god of merciful justice should not be validated to blindly hunt what they believe is the spawn and creation of the Daedric, unfortunately, that's what the Vigilants are as I describe 'em. They are not willing to owe the cause themselves, Harkon and his forces at Castle Volkihar did one good thing and that was burning down their Hall, especially as Carcette had been the first to fall and Tolan had paid for her price by repeatedly calling Fort Dawnguard a crumbling ruin that should stay a crumbling ruin; not worth the expense of or manpower to restore to it's prime. But were you aware that the Vigilants tried to kill Count Janus Hassildor as well? I find it hilarious and Hal-Liurz among the court agrees, the citizens of Skingrad will not bow to a order of holy knights who are just as blinded to the cause as Delphine the Bitch is blinded to her hatred of Partysnax; and she too has paid the price for ordering his murder as did Esbern for not stepping in to side with us both. And I gave them a death that's as merciful as justice can be"
(Talos): "You are a true kinsman, whether or not we walk in the same skin or the same bones, it matters not because that is not what you will be remembered for. No hesitation to admit it, the god of war and mankind will always be sacred to me and to us as well as to the Nords; and no High Elf from the Summerset Isles is going to step in and tell us that we are not allowed to worship a god who is the savior of men. I have no hesitation to believe in him either, but you should remember that the Thalmor had been on my ass for years and sent war parties to break into my home in Anvil to root me out as a worshipper and have me executed before the public in the Imperial City as a warning to everyone in Cyrodiil. No war party of theirs had ever taken me alive for interrogation and I know what information to impart, and what to withhold as any evidence they think they can get from me is going to be erased; I always have backup storages I've hidden in many places, using the logic we always tend to forget as different races over the most powerful clairvoyance spells they think would lead them to where they desire. The deceit and weaving of discord within the Aldmeri Dominion by Mephala all so I can protect the god of war and mankind, Talos is my ally in times of hardship like these. Always remember that lad/lass, always remember..."
(Zenithar): "True riches come from hardwork and a honest living as they say, but some work may not be as honest as it would appear. He does not judge for you for that I assure you lad/lass, and Brynjolf is only joking as the mood in Riften is dreary after all. Dirty money from corrupt officials can be cleaned and old gold can be restored and cashed in for more valuable pieces, so says I as the Chief Architect of Winterhold"
(No Divine): "The Nine Divines are not for everyone, just as much as the ways of the Thalmor aren't for everyone on the Summerset Isles and those who open their eyes to see the bigotry are given mercy, it is an order and understanding that Talos is a god makes them better than any former member of that horrible faction full of entitled elves that place death warrants on all Nords, Imperials and Redguards, for whom they cannot racially insult as they do with other races, including their own kind, without being stabbed by a thousand curved blades racing to their black and treacherous bleeding hearts before they drop to the floor dead from a thousand Redguards hiding in the dunes, disguised by the sandstorms of Hammerfell"
(Bad Terms): "No one is meant to be good with all divines, and those who are the greatest at everything thrown at them are referred to as Sues and Stus, lad/lass. Their purpose is to make us throw up in disgust of their sickeningly perfect skill at many different talents. And it's those talents that make the Nine puke and choke on their own puke chunks
(Worship All): "A Champion of the Nine like me, every divine as a purpose and eight is just as empty as one"
The Dragonborn: "Who do you worship, Raajareth?"
Raajareth-Adrian Xerifsan VIII (Argonian): "As a Champion of the Nine back in the warm confines of Anvil and in the comforts of Korir's Longhouse where you had first found me next to Kai Wet-Pommel's war room, my world is the here and now. There were never eight divines, the pantheon have always been nine and that's not about to change with the victory of the Thalmor back in the times of the Great War"
