      @@aanandy6831 Yes, but with it focused to a spot you have no flood, and in flood there's no throw. I like a reflector better, but zoomies seem to be popular among general users

    Hey guys, I dismantled the CSLPM1 build and the pill wasn't screwed down tight. This is why it was stepping down at 38°C since the heat transfer to the body was poor

      Both the cslpm1 and culpm1 are the same size beam, but the culpm1 runs at a little higher lumens. Get the culpm1 since it has a warmer tint as well, I personally prefer it

      For the price IF one were to like zoomies with a rotating head, it's decent. I haven't seen anything else that compares price wise.
      Personally I much prefer a reflector based model. Most of my customers are hunters and an adjustable beam is highly favorable on a rifle.

    • @ayokay123
      @ayokay123 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PiercingTheDarkness Ledlenser makes a ton of high quality zoomies with their proprietary lens, but for more than 3X the price, I don't think they're worth it.

  • @MasterPhury
    @MasterPhury 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Wow, thanks for the hard work! :D
    I prefer zoomies because of the homogeneous light profile, it helps searching things when directing the light perpendicularly to the medium searched.
    Been sometime I was looking for further information on the difference of performance for Z1 with each of these chips.
    But now I wonder, why is CULPM1 the most expensive? Just because of that little extra throw and more focused beam profile? SST40 is both the most powerful AND the cheapest LED ._.
    Anyway, +1 subscriber! (:

    • @PiercingTheDarkness
      @PiercingTheDarkness  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The CULPM1 and CULNM1 is more expensive due to the larger LED and better performance, not entirely sure, but it's my guess. The CULPM1 build is using an 8A regulated buck driver which are always more expensive than the cheap linear drivers in both the SST40 and CSLPM1 versions.
      Turns out the pill wasn't tight on the CSLPM1 version which is why it stepped down at 38°C.
      I'd far rather the CSLPM1 version personally. Even though the SST40 has more lumens, it's only brighter in flood configuration, but less bright when it's focused into a spot. The CSLPM1 is much more efficient for longer range because it'll reach a longer distance on a lower brightness level, whereas the SST40 version needs to be on Turbo. The CSLPM1 provides an extra 306m which isn't just a little extra range, that's quite a large increase for only $1.17 nzd.
      By eye I couldn't see any difference in brightness in flood config between all three models. They say the lumens need to be 3-4 times greater for it to appear twice as bright.

      @@PiercingTheDarkness how is the 519A led? I ordered culpm1 for myself and sst40 was out of stock, so I got the 519A version for my dad. Nice video. I like zoomies for indoors/around the house but I’ve only ever had that Amazon 1 billion lumens trash 😂🤦‍♂️

      @@michaelrowe5896 yes, it's on them all. You'll have to disassemble and add a heap of grease to the inner threads and oring. I believe it's actually just the matte anodizing causing friction with the oring.

    • @PiercingTheDarkness
      @PiercingTheDarkness  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No idea on lumens. Isn't there a description that mentions the difference on AliExpress page? 4 modes is 4 brightness levels only. 12 groups is 12 groups of modes that you can select via a config menu accessible with 20 quick taps.

      You'll have to find another channel since I hate these Z1 models due that horrible squeaking when adjusting the focus. I used to sell this model in my store, so that is mostly why this video comparison was made. 4 out of 5 units had a mangled oring behind the glass as well which made it so I had to disassemble every unit to check. Great value, but not very well designed.
