The Amber light is to allow the cross traffic to clear the intersection.
Spot on about the number of lanes. We don't have that but the "problem" is solved by having the traffic lights on the other side of the crossing.
It doesn't take longer to start a manual, usually you just push the clutch and the break pedal when stopping, letting go of the clutch and the break will get the car going just as fast, or even faster
They may well be ' different ', but WE Brits invented them!!!!
yes the traffic light sequence is RED, RED and AMBER ,and GREEN , then stays on GREEN , ,AMBER, and RED . so if for example you are approaching a set of lights , and they on amber , then you know the next light is red the stop light . If red and amber are on together ,then the next light will be the green for go
The reason our traffic lights go from red then red yellow is so that when approaching the lights you know whats coming next. Red yellow. means greens next. just amber it will be red next. Driving tests in Europe are tough- you are made to realise that you are driving a killing machine. America, well not so much, I know because I have driven there. Plus over 50% of American drivers are uninsured. Add to that, most states dont have a yearly vehicle test. There a lot of wrecks on the American roads. So if your going on a fly -drive to the USA for a holiday, just make sure your British insurance covers you for uninsured drivers in America. You will be held liable.
On another note, the traffic lights in the UK are linked to each other in the cities to improve the traffic flow during rush hour periods, they are also linked to the speed limits in the towns and cities, for example, there are a few longish roads within our towns and cities, if you hit the first light and it's green there is a very good chance that if you stick to the 30mph limit you will not encounter any red lights, the same applies if you hit a red light, every traffic light you come to will be red, as a side note Iwhen i use the term hit, I don't mean strike it physically
Red and amber together means engage clutch, get into gear and be at biting point
Another interesting one Island Girl.
One of your states is getting rid of most of your traffic lights and using roundabouts. Apparently it’s saved 10s of millions in taxes because they require a lot less maintenance
In the UK we have overhead lights on multi-lane highways.
But I have never seen any hung up on wires!
They had a couple in Bradford but they ended up being a pain to maintain
with over 30 yaers of driving in the UK ,I have never been in a situation where I was unable to see the traffic lights when I needed to
I love your reactions. You're so open to learning about other cultures ❤
It’s called ready steady go !
hey girl, this one is for all your fans, english ones, which is probably most of your channel, we have roundabouts, we are used to them, some people still dont know how to use them, thats for another day
How many people have sat a a traffic light and said to themselves, they need to put a roundabout here, i know i have many times, i wondered how many others have thought the same

NOT a UK standard, and UK is not the one that is different.
As per almost anything, the USA is the one that is different as it is not following international standards and norms. The UK is adhering to the international "1968 Vienna Convention on Road Signs and Signals".
USA also uses (flashing) red lights to mean "go" (technically "yield"), who does that! Not only does USA not use international standard road signs, they are not even nationally standardised. And, the official rules of the road (such as right of way) can vary from state to state.
It’s law to apply your hand break
Don’t you guys have crazy wind 🌬️…. Would think that you’d be constantly fixing them ?….
I enjoyed this video. 😊❤
Glad you enjoyed🥰
