Loved this video. It reminded me that on another such snowy day, many years ago, I was sent to Newcastle from London as part of my job. I arrived a day early and did as much sightseeing as I could. Visiting the place that gave Newcastle its name seemed the right thing to do. I climbed up to the roof of the 'New' Castle and saw the same snowy view he showed us in this video.
They were not expecting visitors at the castle that day as the snow lay deep. Only an elderly gentleman was on duty, sitting on a chair huddling over a two-bar electric fire. It was kind of him to let me in, but I'm glad he did as the view was quite something. The City has so much history and literally everyone I met during my three day trip was a pleasure to meet. Great City, great memories! Thanks Island Girl.

As a Geordie I love when people react to Newcastle as it reminds me just how great this city is, sometimes you forget when you see it every day.

If you look again at the Royal Arcade you will see a record and music shop called windows , where Mark knoffler ftom Dire Straights bought his First guitar from and also where the Iconic film Get Carter was made with Michael Cain and if you look very carefully in the opening scene ,when Carter arrives by train he goes into a bar called the long bar just beside the Central station , but did you see the guy having a drink ,well this guy had a extra finger on both hands and when my dad was alive I was a mere lad of ninteen years and I was meeting my dad during his dinner break in the moulders arms on the famous Scotswood Road ,when I met this guy and at first I just thought to myself my his hands are big ,then I noticed his extra finger and my dad said ,aye son and he can pick up a whole set of Dominoes in one hand and his hands were perfect , anyway just thought I would mention it , regards Bryan ,❤❤❤.

Miss my city, this has made me homesick. Need a visit Yem. Did you also know that if you look around the streets of Newcastle you will see little bits of Hadrians Wall. There are information signs dotted about. You can take the Geordie out of the town, but never take the Geordie out of the girl. X

I'm Welsh and I've sitting here for an hour remembering my childhood when the NCB relocated Geordies to us because of pit closures in the N.E. Fantastic people and wonderful memories.

Great Video, and does a far better oj than the council of promoting the beauty of my Hometown Newcastle. shame he forgot to talk about the Metro for Tourists. As regards the Bridges the Tyne Bridge was inspired by New York's Hellgate Bridge. However, before that the Architect of Brooklyn Bridge was inspired by the High-Level Bridge over the River Tyne built 20 years earlier. Also, another funny point to add while is talks about the drinking and party culture in the City in the big market, when is turns there is a monument to the Temprest Movement. whish used to speak in the Bigg Market

The right into the centre of the city is just outside the gate. Before the gate was built there was a roundabout which had a X on it showing where the center of Newcastle is

I'd prefer it if we stayed an underrated city. I wouldn't want Newcastle to become as overcrowded as London is.

Newcastle will forever be the city and people that made me fall in love with my own Britishness. I am amazed at how much she offers to all walks if life and how wide her open arms are. Never more at home and safe
