I just found your channel through Jessie and heard you mention your Dutch roots, but since I'm not sure whether you speak Dutch I'll stick to English :-) You're honestly living my dream life with all the flowers and the animals and surrounded by nature. I also wanted to move to Canada for a long time. Now I have no choice but to watch all of your videos! I'm really excited to see more of your flowers and your journey, as I'm starting my own (miniature) flower farm in the Netherlands this year! Thank you for showing your beautiful life :-) 🌷
That sounds amazing and, my Dutch is pretty rusty haha! I hope you have a lot of fun setting up your flower adventure this year! Happy growing and thank you for being here!
I personally love peach flowers in and of themselves, but using it as a 'bridge' to tie together other color ranges is so smart. Peach: The new neutral - who knew
We do all have our favourites, for sure! When you do your sunflowers this year, I wonder if you can find a peachier one? I’ve grown Pro-cut Plum which is in the warmer tones, but a bit more pinky and burgundy
@@floristsonfarmsI also like ProCut Plum! This year I'll be growing 4 ProCuts: White Lite; Plum; Horizon; and, Red/Lemon. I'll mostly be experimenting with spacing to see what size blooms are most workable. I'm renting and only have one 4x4 and one 4x8 raised beds. I'm not a fan of mixes either. I bought 27 different varieties of zinnias to see what I like. No space to waste! I grew 3 from the Queeny series last season. I was surprised how much I liked Queeny Lime Orange! My Zinderellas were a disappointment. I'll try direct sowing them this year.
I googled the Red/Lemon sunflower, that is pretty! Zinderella Peach, which is in my video too, is not as reliable to get those double blooms that are so cute! And the diameter is smaller. It’s a great colour; but yah, I just don’t find it quite as useful because of the bloom size. The Queen series are just so consistent for me year after year. I have a new variety of Queen coming in this year, a blotchy one! I’ll have to look up the name.
I’m so happy the color of the year is peach! Not that being a color of the year really changes much . . But I think it is my favourite flower color and also so versatile. Ps your blue star fern is amazing 🤩
Yes! I am too; just because I really believe in peach, as you can probably tell haha! It seems like the awareness of peach has gone up thanks to Pantone, and I think that is great; because it really is such a helpful colour to have around! That fern - I got it on sale at a garden centre and it seriously makes me so happy every day!
Again, excellent video! I just subscribed to your channel and I'm so happy I found exactly what I needed to learn from this outlet. Your presentation and thorough content is ideal. I struggle sometimes with color and I love peach so this is ideal for me to expand my combos in my arrangements this year. THANK YOU!
Hi Sharon! Thanks so much for being here and for your encouraging words! I so look forward to being much more this growing season! So glad this one was helpful!
Aaah haha thank you! Funny story about that, I once pursued a major in studio art in University, and that was a homework assignment. 🤣. For once I’m glad I’m a saver of things, because it’s been super handy for TH-cam! 🤣😄🤣
Oooh yes! Cherry caramel is great because it brings in the creams and the pinks! I use it a lot. I could have talked for probably another 30 minutes on various cuts that I use. I feel like maybe I should just do another short video to highlight the rest of them 😄
If you don't mind sharing the variety (or varieties) of copper ferns that you grow it would be greatly appreciated. You are an Amazing floral Artist! Wow! Thank you for the inspiration.
You are so kind, thank you! And yes, I’m very glad to share. What those are are Bracken ferns (Pteridium), it grows wild here in large quantities. If you’re in an area where it grows, you can recognize it because it branches, rather than the rosette style growth of most ferns. Actually, if you check out my “Wreath Inspo” video where I forage a wreath, I show a section of it in my woods. Now, it’s green all spring and summer, and in late summer it starts to turn golden and then dries in place in that buttery caramel colour. I forage it and use it fresh as soon as it starts to turn. Essentially, I’m using it as a dry product in fresh designs, and it works very well like that. Hope that helps (and hope you can find some near you!). It’s one of my most favourite things to forage!
You know what, I don’t know for sure (can’t find my tag) but I think it is Goldflame or close to it. If I can find that info I will come back here and let you know!
Thanks so much! I’m so thrilled that this topic was appreciated because I love colour, haha. That is Snoho Sonia, a really prolific and excellent cut flower dahlia :)
Thank you! And yes, absolutely, if you mean the Smokey hot pink, that should be Caitlin’s Joy…and I only say ‘should be’ because I grew it right next to Mission Gypsy which is also a smaller muddy raspberry ball 🥴. Both of those ones are awesome complicated pinks. And in case you mean the pale lavender, that is Snoho Sonia 😄
@@floristsonfarms Oh thank you! Mission Gypsy is not available here, but Caitlin's joy is...that one is going on my list! Lovely colour! Thank you again!
Oh awesome! That one’s really pretty, the orange under-colour in that one makes it really handy! I haven’t grown it for a long enough time to know it’s growth character; but I think it can range a bit with the weather, moving more into the corals and more into the pinks. Where are you that there is no Mission Gypsy? Is that the UK?
@@floristsonfarms I'm from the Netherlands. Your favorite other country! 😉 We have enough other dahlia's to choose from, but the grass is always greener on the other side...

Such a great colour! Tonal purples are also a favourite of mine to work with for the same reason!
Very helpful. Your bouquets are beautiful as usual. I love using the center of echinacea in bouquets.
Echinacea is one of the best things about fall!
Thank you so much for sharing this! Color theory is very complicated and you broke it down into little steps so well!
Awesome, I’m so happy that it was helpful to you! Happy growing!
What lovely bouquets to brighten a rainy winter day!
Glad you enjoyed! I spend a lot of time looking at photos and videos of the gardens, waiting, waiting, waiting for spring!
Beautiful arrangements! This inspires me to grow more peach flowers.
Woohoo! I don’t think you’ll regret it!
A wealth of knowledge :) Thank you!
I’m just grateful you enjoy hearing me talk about flowers; because my hubby is tired of hearing about them 😉🤣😝
@@floristsonfarms Oh I hear that! That glossed over look in his eyes. Yep I know lol
Hahaha! That’s it exactly!

@@floristsonfarms That worked out well! Funny how things circle back and become useful again.
Well this explains why I'm always growing peach coloured flowers (and foliage).
Aha! Tell me about the peachy foliages that you grow! One that really stands out to me for those colours is peony foliage in the fall!
I grow Coleus "campfire" and Amaranthus "illumination". Maybe not that typical for floristry but I use it for my arrangements@@floristsonfarms
Very cool, I haven’t had the opportunity for that amaranthus but it’s beautiful, and I love your creative use of Coleus!

How many types of dahlias do you grow and can you keep them in the ground over winter?
Oooh roughly 40-50 different ones at the moment. No, I don’t overwinter in the ground, it’s too risky for me here!
