- Two Eurofighter scrambeling and intercepting a suspicious unidentified aircraft approaching Zeltweg airport. After escorting the civil aircraft to a safe landing, the two Typhoons go on to a mock dogfight showoff.

The engine is largely based on the Rolls-Royce XG-40 technology which was developed in the 1980s.

The audio really captures how terrifically loud these machines are
fun fact: the plane intercepted is dietrich mateschitz personal plane. usually they used a c-130 from the austrian air force for that display but they were all on missions or in maintenance so he borrowed his plane.

Beautiful - these aircraft always look spectacular. Hats off to the Typhoon pilots, having to work quite hard to fly that slow (very nose-up with lots of power) in the early stages, not to just blow straight by the Gulfstream and so the spectators can actually see what's going on.
That’s not a gulf stream
That’s and s a Dassault Falcon 900 and bot a Gulfstream and the Typhoon pilots do nothing to keep it at such high AOA …. the jet is controlled by computers, it flies like this “hands off”.

I love the sound of the Typhoons engines
The Typhoon is a beautiful aircraft, it sits there like a Cobra waiting to strike. I was privileged enough to work at one of the BAe factories in the late '80s where the EAP (its name at the time) was being developed.
EAP was not a Typhoon but a prove of concept jet on wich the Typhoon was heavily based on a few tears later. There would be not typhoon without the Brits and their EAP borrowed Tornado tail and engines 👍🏻 Must have been awesome to see the real EAP before it was grounded 🤩
That.was.brilliant... such an impressive display. Both Typhoons look seriously sinister coming up behind the civil jet!

Thanks for the awesome video. I was there on day 2 and I'll never forget this sound as it's completely different to experience it for real than watch it online. The overwhelming pressure of roar from those engines was amazing experience that just makes you smile in awe. That day I fulfilled many of my childhood dreams.

Typhoons and Lightning IIs dogfight over our back garden occasionally (near RAF Linton on Ouse. Great fun watching them, especially the F35B's vectored thrust moves to pivot and turn around just like a Chinook!
F-35s don’t have thrust vectoring, except during hover flight.

This is known as a high alpha condition where in dogfights you have an adversary at your tail and you can’t avoid it by jinking, banking or using ECMs so by using a high alpha manoeuvre you can avoid certain death by making your opponent fly past without realising that you have the upper hand now
@@ahmadtheaviationlover1937 maybe on WW2, nowadays if you pull high alphas in front of an enemy jet, you'll most likely eat an IR guided missile. If the enemy gets close enough for you to do that, they did something wrong. Also using ECM in modern day combat is kind of useless against aircraft, ECM are intended for SEAD missions against SAMs. With an aircraft you'd have 2 main problems:
1- Jammers have a burn-through zone, in which the enemy aircraft is so close that his radar burns trough your jammer, rendering it useless
2- Modern active radar missiles have what's called a "Home-On-Jammer" mode, meaning that they'll seek jammer frequencies

That might be down to pilots but I certainly wouldn't get rid of the typhoon yet.just because something is old it doesn't mean you have to throw it away.
One of those had me shouting on TS2: "I CANNOT HEAR YOU. MUST BE THE EUROFIGHTERS!" xD
(followed by a debate whether eurofighters were based in my vincinity or not.... and they were)

Place i worked a couple of year ago the typhoons were a regular sight escorting planes out from the airport..Always worth watching.

That's what I came here for, an unrestrikted QRA scramble scramble scramble.
Beim Abfangmanöver sollte sich der Abfangjäger links vor dem Cockpit des abzufangenden Flugzeuges befinden und durch Flügelwackeln dem Piloten zu erkennen geben, dass er dem Abfangjäger folgen soll, um auf dem nächsten Flugplatz zu landen, was bei Funkausfall wichtig ist. So lernt man das in der Pilotenausbildung.

These are shit planes without serious weapon systems, most sensors are missing and they won’t last half a day in a real war. Austrian Typhoons are sports planes, nothing else. Not comparable to UK or German jets.

Typhoon 🌀 almost falls out of the sky at 40-45° AOA while the Falcon lands with a comfortable 5-10° pitch attitude 🤣

I still am sceptical as I see a chute and an airbreak of this size when those EF are landing and wonder if it is not a bad conception for a plane of it's generation.
It is demonstrating that the typhoon has the ability to use a chute, the typhoon can land without a shoot on many runways.
@@marcustrevor1883 As soon as they are long enough ! If you have highways everywhere it's ok. It's a mess England couldn't use theme on they're carriers. Instead of that they bought F35, a mess.
