Yeah, ESPN has been giving sports to ABC for some reason. Since its rebranding (formerly ABC Sports), I'd imagine that ESPN would bring more sports to ABC because of the high viewership of the SEC football broadcasts.
The Bengals and the Cowboys needed something to actually get people to watch. Both teams were under .500, so nobody would waste three hours of watching bad football.

Technically Preston Pearson #26 for the Pittsburgh Steelers would score the first Monday night TD with 8:30 to go in the first quarter of the Steelers vs Giants Preseason game, but with all the Monday night shenanigans. If we are going to count the AFL-NFL World Championship games as Super Bowls, then we can count this as a Monday night game. The 1970 Preseason Broadcast was the first actual broadcast.
Ok so hold up as a fan in my mid 40s when you say Simpsons and football all I think of is I quit watching the Simpsons because it was always interrupted by the 4:30 game running late and pushing the start time back. Along with causing episodes of the show that follows to be unaired until hopefully the next week which is why I quit watching Futurama. So why would I have any interest in watching a collaboration? The whole idea failed so hard also because the NFL wanted to flex this game since their favorite team isn't contending and look, they lost.

If "The Simpsons" alternate broadcast was better than the "Toy Story" alternate broadcast, how would you rank the Dude Perfect alternate broadcast if you put them all into a list? 🤔
I’ll probably say my comments as the video goes on. 1. For 5:45, I have to assume this was an error since they assumed that since the cowboys deferred, the bengals won, when that isn’t the case. 2. For 8:30, the only way they did that is because they thought the viewer wouldn’t care or not know and assume that since the player was named “Homer”, he must’ve scored the TD. 3. From 10:07-12:25, I tend to expect these. A lot of times where you can’t see the play. Not as bad as toy story, because you can see the idea sometimes, but it’s not really legible at times. 4. From 12:30-13:50, some pretty hilarious moments to be honest. Obviously, it won’t be perfectly animated, so stuff will happen. But yeah, the errors of down and distance and the interception aren’t excusable. 5. For the part around 15:00, they should’ve had Bart and Homer as QBs and should’ve let them have bad plays. I get that they have Homer’s fantasy, but fantasies can have bad moments and I don’t think that homer needs to be perfect, especially since his team lost. 6. I think that an alternate broadcast would’ve worked better if there was pre recorded segments and interviews or if the voice actors were there to play their parts. That would’ve worked well. Maybe have Nancy Cartwright and Dan Castenella to play as Bart and Homer. 7. For 18:00, I’m sure that TJ Moe asshole wouldn’t like the fact that you talked positively about a woman talking about football.

I can imagine far worse cartoons for the NFL to promote their league.
Cases in point: Bob's Burgers, Rick 'N Morty, the latest Star Wars shit from Disney...dare i go on? 😆
Don’t forget Family Guy, that would be a nightmare.
@@BillyRicker92Not if Family Guy uses there own John Madden saying "I'm ready to see a good game of Football." 😅
I didn’t watch it because The Simpsons are like that one celebrity trying everything to stay relevant, they haven’t been funny in years. That being said, Mina Kimes made it watchable, I love her homage to the late Phil Hartman by pulling a Troy McClure
They're not trying to stay relevant they're trying to stay profitable which they are. Like it's not like they're losing money. They'd be canceled in a minute if they were. The show will exist so long as it's profitable and not a moment longer. It's ugly for hardcore fans that have been around from the beginning and think of it as sort of like Michael Jordan on the wizards but the goal is not relevance to them being relevant is just a byproduct of being profitable which they are
mmm maybe Futurama vs Simpsons for next year. it might open the jokes up.
