I respect this comment because at least you went in with an open mind! We have a full video on this dropping… I can understand why you would feel trolled. I will say (and it’s going to sound weird) the “bad singing” is part of Phoenix’s charm. I think that tied in with his character well.
Me too, I kept thinking “ok here’s where it’s about to get good and actually be the joker” and then when it was ready to end I realized I hated it. When the ending happened, I realized I needed to make an IMDb account to give it a 1 star, which feels too high.

When it comes to opinions on films. Its not just an objective or subjective medium. Rhats why we watch an judge it on what aspects of the film we like and how well done the acting and story was told.
I get what you’re getting at… It’s your own opinion though so that’s what’s gonna make it subjective. It’s an art. The only hope is that people you consider your tribe agree. But it’s also ok if you’re alone in your opinion
Yeah, and that is what movie critics are literally paid to do, and they usually if not always come to the table with more knowledge and insights than the average viewer. And they are crapped on so long as they don't praise a film people happen to like. I like films I wouldn't say are good, let alone masterpieces. Conversely, there are films I think are praised too highly. Whatever. At the end of the day, opinions are subjective even as objective criteria can be cited and interpreted in various ways.
I don't see how the recent Harley Quinn actresses are strictly doing this as vanity projects. You might as well say the Phoenix is doing it for the same reason.
I used to be in choir and I love to sing and I can't stand musicals! In fact when that trailer from that Wicked movie came out my wife wanted to see it. As soon as she found out it was a musical she was like F-that!
IDGAF about reviews. That first trailer was fire, and I'm pretty hyped to see it. I liked the first movie, I like musicals, and I like interesting genre concepts. I'm anticipating a good time in the theater.
I just watched it and it freaking sucks. Performance was good but story line was episode one boring. I kept waiting for it to get better but it didn’t. I literally almost walked out then the end happened. Now I wish I walked out sooner.
It's different. It's a tragedy. It's a fantasy that dies. There are lots of universes of Joker. This is one of them. It kind of moved me. Left an impact. I'd say watch it regardless of what people say. Have your own opinion on this and keep it. Some of you will love it, some of you will hate it.
I never pay attention to critic ratings, they only care about woke agendas and messaging. It’s audience rating that’s worth paying attention to. I can’t wait to see this.
Critics probably just wanted a female lesbian Joker.. so as a compromise they decided ok we'll do a male Joker but when he gets with Harley we'll just make it super gay with a bunch of musical action.
@@thedestroyer2alltrolls411 Movie critics 1000% are. They are notorious for being out of touch with what “normal” people enjoy in movies. I’m hate it for you that you find this fact offensive.
The movie is bad. Just watched at the fan screening last night I hated it. If you like any aspect of the first one, it’s completely absent from part 2. Should’ve stayed a standalone film.
I think I wouldn't recommend watching this movie, reading the synopsis is probably good enough. And I would recommend thinking about the story which imo is thematically genius and a tragedy. It's actually kind of like Undertale in the way that the player or in this case the viewer is a character in it, I strongly believe the first film is actually followed up on perfectly, not contradicted. But like Arthur, you the audience were emotionally manipulated into thinking that he was the Joker. The Joker is like this spirit that possesses many different people, the "Joker Moment" is a thing that pulls in many individuals who want to circumvent social norms in times where we believe we are unjustly treated. But realistically Joker 2 is what would happen IRL if Joker 2019 happened. Someone like Arthur isn't going to go on to be Batman's adversary. In the interview scene we actually see he wants to be better but society keeps kicking him down and he temporarily snapped. But now everyone (including us) was inspired by his Joker moment and they kinda want to see how it would be if he kept going down that path. And we even convince him that that's who he really is but later after even worse abuse he realises that he can't keep doing that. Arthur really wouldn't be able to handle staying as the Joker. The scene with the guards just before they do the unspeakable to him really solidifies this, Mark Hamill's Joker would probably laugh and crack jokes as they do that but Arthur has already got trauma from that so he just can't. He's fundamentally a good person that just had a really bad life, unlike how you'd have to be to continue being the Joker forever. Batman's adversary is not someone who has empathy, it's more like the self admitted psychopath we see at the end of the movie who will likely be inspired by Arthur's Joker moment to become the (first) actual Joker in that universe. This story isn't about the Joker the individual but rather about how society mistreats the mentally ill, i.e. this individual who is forced to use the power of the Joker and the Joker specifically because of what the Joker means to people as a symbol in real life.
I'll admit Todd Phillips makes great dramas other than his usual comedy films but him doing sequels isn't really a strong suit for him like the hangover sequels are a recycle from it's predecessor.
The only thing that takes me out of the story quicker, than the cast suddenly bursting into song and dance. Is a screaming baby in the movie theater. God I fvcking hate musicals!
Having not seen the movie yet, I’m assuming this takes place mostly in one of the characters minds. Hence why people say it was a waste of time. It’s all fake
Sequels are always compared to the original and barely never live up, cus the first was more groundbreaking or we just expect too much or too much critic hype? Who knows with sequels Gotta watch with an open mind preferably when it’s streaming first free
Im going to watch this in theaters before more people tell me their ideas on the film. If you think about it, this movie is probably pushing more boundaries than the first movie considering its a comic book movie, that's also focused on prestige, and also trying to tell a dark and gritty story while its a musical, to an audience of what will be mostly men. The first one already had heavy Scorsese influences , we've seen that type of film before Its a big risk, I kind of respect that. Who knows this movie can open the avenue for people to watch more movies outside of just Blockbusters.
Hollywood only wants to make huge movies if it can shoehorn a message down you throat. It tried with the first Joker but left it open to interpretation and the audience didn't get the full message. This time they'll keep all ambiguity out of it and tell you exactly what they think you should think. Thats why these movies based on properties are hit and miss, those who can elevate the source to a new level win, those who use it as a chance to inject a message just make people indifferent. Is it entertaining enough to watch over and over again? I seriously doubt it. But maybe the music can save it for those who fast forward through repeat viewings.
You seek to destroy Gotham?! For its weakness! For its fear! For its failures, time and time again! I am Gotham. Strike me down. What I'm getting at is I am disciplined for modernist city's I won't cause them premeditated to cause another crises of infinite earth's and don't get me STARTED on the praises they bring confusing dismay.
Well. After seeing it. I can say...expectations have been subverted. And that's not good.🥴 But I will further clarify. If you are looking for something to watch purely carried on drama enhanced actor performances. Then oh boy has this movie got you covered. But if you are looking to indulge in virtually anything else for viewer entertainment. Then this film will not sway you in the very least.😅
Almost seems like some of those reviews are fabricated to push a personal perspective... Quite excited to see it now.. Dozens of reviews out now, positive reviews with a little Logic in em are starting to outnumber the derpy IGN-type scores... (we all know IGN scores are just bought and paid for these days anyways, fake AF) 🃏
Lady gaga isnt unexperienced in acting. She did a great job on a star is born. And there was music, but it wasnt really a musical, and she acted really well in that movie.
I was going to check out this movie when i saw the trailer, but then now it’s a musical and that put me off immediately from seeing it. Giving me high school musical type vibes.💀
This is gonna be a view yourself movie, right now Phenox is in hot water and studios are mad he dropped some roles. Hollywood might be looking to make an example of him and mess with promotion and "reviews"
Awful, nothing but the abuse Author Fleck, and the Joker never showed up. The only way to redeem it is to make a third movie and have the Joker take over when “Fleck” dies. Also, don’t make the Joker a guy who finally snaps on the Rape Bros and bullies and expect people NOT to identify with him. The first one made sense from that perspective, this was meandering garbage.
So guys I will speak firsthand . I have seen the film and I will not go into full detail but I will say DO NOT LISTEN TO CRITICS. When I saw the film and then read some of the reviews I can 100% understand why some don’t and probably won’t like this movie . It is very BOLD AND RAW. We live in a very sensitive society and I will tell you now, this film is going to rub some people the wrong way 100% . Me personally LOVED it and we need more films like this in cinema
I never trust reviews. Im gonna watch this movie and I will form my own opinion if I like the movie or not. I watched the first one and I liked it. It was different from the other Joker's on screen but it was its own thing and I like Jaquin's portrayal of the Joker. Jack Nicoltson's Joker and Heath Ledger's Joker are still my favorite version's.
It’s always important for us to form our own opinions. I agree. Can’t wait to watch this one! There can be more than one version and we can love all of them!

I mean ... at least critics aren't saying this movie will encourage ppl to be violent like when the first one came out. To me, it seems like the musical Chicago, but dark and gritty for the fellas
Waiting for spoilers. I’ve said since I saw the first trailer that this movie is going to be a dream sequence/shared delusion between Joker and Harley, hence the name Folie a Deux. I hope I’m wrong but if that’s what this turns out to be I hope it fails miserably.

Maybe i can enjoy it as a Song and Dance but have a feeling that making a sequel like that to a Joker(original), makes me scratch my head...
It feels like making Holiday Special after Star Wars original(1978)
Why can't film industry make a consistent things these days...
Tbh thr movie should never have a sequel but then again MONEY
I’m not watching a musical
Okay????
A "musical" based on a comic-book super-villain - a psychopathic, homicidal, madman that is the dark knight's arch nemesis...?
TRASH
Ok
Your people generally can't enjoy them anyways
Good discussion guys. Based on those reviews I predict that the film will be good but might suffer from not having anything meaningful to say or add on top of the original. Liked and subbed
Much love Komrade! We're thinking the same thing. Its an interesting choice making it a musical which also helps make it its own type of comicbook movie. Always open to when filmmakers try something thats a bit out there. Thats what makes movies fun.
The embargo doesn’t apply to everyone. Some outlets like THR get permission to print reviews early.
People ignored it and went to letterboxed and Twitter. Those weren't on THR or any of the major trades.
@@kaylex3 regular folks who go to screenings don’t sign embargos. Those are just for press.
Nice clickbait. The first movie was divisive too. I’m sure Gaga killed it. There is always going to be someone who is mad. That’s what Joker is about
This is not joker.
You can change the name to auther and no one would notice.
@@tn420animations9 uh oh guys the joker police is here!
Not that not what that joker is about smh pick up a comic please.
@@denniscool6224 so don’t watch it you wanna cry about it so much
I knew Gaga would ruin this
It's too bad she doesn't use her real name as an actress. Lady Gaga just sounds stupid.
Her performance has been praised by critics and they complained she was not in it enough, she is not the issue here
It's a commercial movie. They saw the dancing in original was popular. Money men wanted more money. Dance monkeys
This Gaga person likes franchise killers.
Yeah let’s blame the one character that the critics universally praised in the movie and ignore the fact that Todd was the director. Your sexism is showing, it’s always the woman’s fault right?
@@Thin_Mercury ia 'woman'? Really...? She/he absolutely ruined 'a star is born'(one of the worst movies ever made). Stick to voice modulated radio jingles pls.
@@michaelrichter8204 Calm down and stop making up nonsense please. You have no idea what you are talking about incel
This movie was only made because some people want to see Yaquin Phoenix kissing a man.
@@Thin_Mercury are you expecting a yes?
I don’t do musicals so it doesn’t matter if it were to be the best film of all time. I don’t got time for that.
Lol damn give it a chance… but I understand

Well, today it's at 63 % and "fresh".
Oscsr Worthy vs Gore Worthy by October 2024.

Joaquin Phoenix/Joker vs Art the Clown/David Thornthon
lol I’m hearing T3 is going to be AN EVENT!
This has the same vanity project feel as Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn movie. This is going to be one big dream sequence TV episode in movie form.
How does Joker 2 feel like a vanity project?
@@kaylex3 it's apparently a musical! Big tip-off.
I love the Harley Quinn movie I'm probably going to love this too 😁👍
I don't see how the recent Harley Quinn actresses are strictly doing this as vanity projects. You might as well say the Phoenix is doing it for the same reason.
I really liked the first one, I rarely watch films more than once and I've seen it 3 times. I just don't like musicals...
The advertising for this film is awful. It's a musical. The average human does not like musicals.
I used to be in choir and I love to sing and I can't stand musicals! In fact when that trailer from that Wicked movie came out my wife wanted to see it. As soon as she found out it was a musical she was like F-that!
Suddenly become musical?! hellnaw
The commercial looks whack, not hard to see its gonna suck, come on, a musical? Lady gagas gagging got to all on set
IDGAF about reviews. That first trailer was fire, and I'm pretty hyped to see it. I liked the first movie, I like musicals, and I like interesting genre concepts. I'm anticipating a good time in the theater.
Hopeless optimism
I just watched it and it freaking sucks. Performance was good but story line was episode one boring. I kept waiting for it to get better but it didn’t. I literally almost walked out then the end happened. Now I wish I walked out sooner.
If the reviews for this film weren’t mixed I would be worried
Looking forward to seeing it for myself tbh!
You've got to give credit to Joaquin Pheonix for acting this type of role, only a well-experienced actor can pull it off.
Joker 2 doesn’t exist. This is just a Joke
Turned it into a musical. No thanks 😂
I never pay attention to critic ratings, they only care about woke agendas and messaging. It’s audience rating that’s worth paying attention to. I can’t wait to see this.
Agreed!
@@williammora88first one was great
Critics probably just wanted a female lesbian Joker.. so as a compromise they decided ok we'll do a male Joker but when he gets with Harley we'll just make it super gay with a bunch of musical action.
Not all critics are like that. Quit generalizing.
In this day and age if critics like it I don't
I forgot it was coming out. I'll pass on this.
We don't blame you! It seems like a lot of people are feeling this way. Still hoping this movie can do well
I'll admit Todd Phillips makes great dramas other than his usual comedy films but him doing sequels isn't really a strong suit for him like the hangover sequels are a recycle from it's predecessor.
The only thing that takes me out of the story quicker, than the cast suddenly bursting into song and dance. Is a screaming baby in the movie theater. God I fvcking hate musicals!
Just saw it. Really good. Not quite as good as the first. But a very worthy sequel
Spot on! Similar thoughts here… we’re dropping a vid on this tomorrow
no way its better than long legs. nic cage did better than joker
Having not seen the movie yet, I’m assuming this takes place mostly in one of the characters minds. Hence why people say it was a waste of time. It’s all fake
Can't wait!!!
Sequels are always compared to the original and barely never live up, cus the first was more groundbreaking or we just expect too much or too much critic hype? Who knows with sequels
Gotta watch with an open mind preferably when it’s streaming first free
Im going to watch this in theaters before more people tell me their ideas on the film. If you think about it, this movie is probably pushing more boundaries than the first movie considering its a comic book movie, that's also focused on prestige, and also trying to tell a dark and gritty story while its a musical, to an audience of what will be mostly men.
The first one already had heavy Scorsese influences , we've seen that type of film before
Its a big risk, I kind of respect that. Who knows this movie can open the avenue for people to watch more movies outside of just Blockbusters.
Lot of people said the 1st one was bad too.
I can't wait to hear the Joker singing. 🎉 Again (C'est la Vie!)
the ending bruh wtf 70$ for this shit
They want to make it horrible on purpose. They have to ruin the story after seeing how great Joker was received by the "wrong" people.
Tbf I thought the first one was an edgy whingefest full of mediocre writing, a sequel to that and it’s a musical? Waste of time for me personally 😂
It’s legit just taxi driver with clown makeup
Hey that’s valid criticism
don't let this guy state another opinion
Almost seems like some of those reviews are fabricated to push a personal perspective...
Quite excited to see it now.. Dozens of reviews out now, positive reviews with a little Logic in em are starting to outnumber the derpy IGN-type scores...
(we all know IGN scores are just bought and paid for these days anyways, fake AF)

Definitly looking forward to forming my own opinion on the movie.
I think it’s going to be fun, even if it’s not good
Same director made Hangover 2. Hmm?
IGN is about as trusted as a source as a random street dealer in a foreign country.

Lady gaga isnt unexperienced in acting. She did a great job on a star is born. And there was music, but it wasnt really a musical, and she acted really well in that movie.
Going to be honest…. It was fucking great. I hate people destroying it for no reason.

First one was an easy 5 stars. The trailer makes the sequel look like a 2. I hope I'm wrong 🙏 🤞
Yeah, I have my early ticket I’m going to give this one a chance
dont worry, people like you will definitely like this move
Honestly, I don’t trust critics, they are too judgmental now these days.
Me personally LOVED it and we need more films like this in cinema
can’t wait to watch!! We got early tickets, this movie looks like bare minimum the cinematography will be gorgeous!
Chill people it’s a freaking movie
I never trust reviews. Im gonna watch this movie and I will form my own opinion if I like the movie or not. I watched the first one and I liked it. It was different from the other Joker's on screen but it was its own thing and I like Jaquin's portrayal of the Joker. Jack Nicoltson's Joker and Heath Ledger's Joker are still my favorite version's.
It’s always important for us to form our own opinions. I agree.
Can’t wait to watch this one! There can be more than one version and we can love all of them!
I think people who give boring/dull reviews were the kind of people who said grappling and wrestling in an MMA fight as boring.
LMFAO! Those people URK MY EFFFIN SOUL 😂😂😂
Big part of them is not understanding the grappling. Just like reviewers not understanding the film... you made a great analogy
@@kaylex3 But damn it I just read somewhere this movie ended in a way that the last thing how everyone want it ends.

I mean ... at least critics aren't saying this movie will encourage ppl to be violent like when the first one came out. To me, it seems like the musical Chicago, but dark and gritty for the fellas
Yeah I dont like how some journalist were trying to paint that narrative when the first movie dropped. But I agree. This one is going to be fun
Waiting for spoilers. I’ve said since I saw the first trailer that this movie is going to be a dream sequence/shared delusion between Joker and Harley, hence the name Folie a Deux. I hope I’m wrong but if that’s what this turns out to be I hope it fails miserably.
