  • In this video Navajo Historian, Wally Brown, shares about the beginning of Lake Powell.
The young interpreter that was there when the Federal Government made a deal with local Navajo people shared his story with Wally years later.
The Government didn't keep their part of the deal with the Diné. This is one of the stories that needs to be told.

As usual , the Native American people were SCREWED EVERY TIME THEY WERE PROMISED ANYTHING‼️😡I AM A SMALL PART Cherokee but I can honestly say , with out a doubt , the Indians ,of ALL TRIBES , were lied to and deceived in EVERY TREATY OR ANYTHING PROMISED THEM. You might say that I am a so called "racist" for my thoughts but the TRUTH IS THE TRUTH NO MATTER HOW IT IS TOLD . If your homes were taken from you and you and your family were herded to another place called a reservation (close to what is now called a concentration camp ) how would you react and what would your response be ❓ I think those of you that have the back bone to stand up and try to do something would do just what my ancestors did . 😥

Don't listen to the WEF and they're Globalist agenda to save the planet and don't listen to the FEDS. I remember the development of Lake Powell as a kid. Our family drove to Nevada on a regular basis and we watched the construction of the Glen Canyon dam. Once Lake Powell was opened, we went on a boat ride in the lake. The scenery was breath taking but it did not override the sadness and guilt that I felt with the Canyon being taken away from the Native Americans. This is a feeling I will never forget. Now it seems that Nature it taking back the Canyon on its own terms. I believe many thought that the dam was not the right thing to do - now we have the answer. Love hearing the history ❤️

My unsolicited opinion-- Earth is doing its best to provide for us, despite the barriers we create and all we take. Then we insinuate it’s earths fault by saying we’re in a drought, like as if it’s not cause we’re pumping and using more water then cyclically and historically earth provides our area - like it’s earths fault we ‘aren’t getting enough’. No we’re taking too much. We’re the drama. We’re the problem. And we’re rightfully suffering the consequences of generations of greed and mismanagement, trying to control Mother Nature (vs respect & work with her cyclical, moody, dynamic, fluid, ever changing, loving giving, taking, nature.)

Wow - thank you for this history as it puts modern events in context. Her in the midwest in the lands of the Arkansas River basin, very similar things happened to the Osage, the Kaw, the Wichita, the Pawnee and many other clans over time. This middle rivers of the US were incredibly abundant with very similar native crops as you describe. Now the Arkansas river is asleep and starved of life barely able to process what the cities and modern agriculture export. All I can say is that there are people who care, who want to be good allies and hope to make things right with the earth. These newer generations will have new understandings. This knowledge is important to help us understand how we can live in more balance. Im personally grateful for these teachings.

Wow, I never knew but am not surprised as it’s how the controllers of this planet have always operated for eons. I am a boomer who in the Spring of 1975 did a river trip from Green River thru the confluence of the Green & Colorado upon high waters, taking Cataract’s rapids one drop per day. We took our time absorbing the sacredness of the river & land. However, we were aware of the great loss due to Edward Abby’s books and of his attempts to stop the dam from being built … and of the exquisite canyons that had been lost most notable, Escalante Canyon. So the trip took on a deep sadness as we hit the once free flowing waters slowing down at Lake Powell headwaters … with the awareness of what was under us was gone. Thank you so much for completing the truth of what had happened to these sacred life-giving Native lands. For certain greedy war mongering non-human off worlders, it has always been about the real estate throughout the galaxy and Earth has nearly been lost completely. Fortunately, their time is up and they have lost this spiritual war. Not too far into the future humanity will be finally be free to spiritually evolve and know that Native Peoples will be able to assist MOST HIGHLY VALUED making it so. Once again, we will be back into alignment with Mother Earth and Source.

with the blessing from our past relatives that we may again return to our true home and that our relationship with the the world we live in will return with healing and a postive propective of how we really should be living.
I am blessed to have been presented this material not only by yourself but by the many people that have taken the time to make these presentations available.

In 1958 I was 8 years old...my folks and I lived at Marble Canyon..they helped run a cafe and trading post if I remember correctly. While there I recall one day some Navajos needed a ride to their Hogan's and my dad volunteered to take them with me along for the ride..it was a 57 Chevy and loaded to the max with me sitting on someone's lap. When we arrived I seen criss cross corrals where men were breaking horses and there was a much larger Hogan where 3 ? women were weaving a HUGE blanket. Other women were roasting something (I don't remember what), but they gave me some to eat. I loved it and asked if I could have some more of which my Dad said shhhh and a sweet woman said, " no it's alright we have plenty to go around...and I remember I just loved her for her kindness. I've always had a soft spot in my heart for the Navajo people since. As time went by 1959 we ended up in Winslow, Arizona.
I now live in the Ozark mountains and grow a garden every year...I self taught myself mostly and I'm always learning something new.
I grew yellow squash, zucchini, white Lebanese squash all summer squash which is the Pepo species planted so far apart in areas so not to cross pollinate.
Winter squash were Kabocha which is a Maxima species,
Tromboncino which is a Moschata species, so nothing cross pollinated keeping seed true and remaining open pollinated good seed.
I grew tomatoes, peppers, sugar baby 🍉, cucumbers, few green beans and Okra which is a favorite of mine.
When I came onto this property there was just fields, and I told myself we needed to plant an orchard of peaches, apples, pears, mulberry, and blueberries,
strawberries and anything medicinal I could get into the ground. It's so worth the work when you can look at your plate and say most of this I grew. And now a days it's becoming very necessary to get by in a good way. My income is very small but I'm blessed in so many other ways. I save so much seed and if I could share with the Navajo nation I would but I don't know who to contact.
I'm thankful I stumbled upon your video...Many Blessings to all.

These lands so much more than a recreation area. People have not listened to the Dine' nor the scientists who care and love these waters. I grew up on the river since I was kid and have watched it change for the past 50 years. My Dine' elder told me how as a young man he'd ride horses to Rainbow Bridge and I've watched it flow and change. I hope when I'm an Elder I will see us becoming better Earth stewards and for the next 7 generations to know this sacred and beautiful place. May we find a healing path for our precious river. @@1ACL Yes, it is definitely terrible. We aren’t taught about any of the atrocities or the real history of this country. We (Americans and Worldwide) were taught that the south was super racist during the 1800s and all Colored/Negros were slaves during that time. However, Georgia and most of the South had Negros in Congress and General Assemblies during the 1860s-1890. Georgia had a Colored/Negro Senator in 1870 (Jefferson Hamilton Long) ( Republican). You had the Original 33 in Camilla, Ga. Who were the original 33 Colored/Negro Republicans elected to the Georgia Assembly in 1868. Mississippi had a Colored/Negro Senator (Hiram R Revel) (Republican) in 1870. As well as Alabama, Florida, & South Carolina. Also, the all Colored/Negro city of Wilmington, NC was thriving heavily before it was overthrown in a coup in 1898 (VOX has a video about it on TH-cam titled “When White Supremacy Overthrew A Government”. Texas Republican Party was founded by 150 Negros and just 20 Anglo Saxons in 1867. Doesn’t match what we were taught. Also, the Immigrants from European, North African and Asian nations only arrived in the mid 1800s through the 1920s (30 to 40+ Million through Ellis Island and six other ports of entry). This timeframe this up perfectly with the massacres/burnings/drowning of Negro towns and cities in the mid 1800s through the 1930s kind of like a coup of a Nation just as Wilmington, NC 1898. We were taught that the “Union Soldiers” were the good guys but when you research the “Devils PunchBowl” Natchez, MS 1865, you see that Union Soldiers corralled 100k Free Negros (Men,Women,Children) and locked them into a concrete wall concentration camp and worked and starved them to death. “The Union Army did not allow them to remove the bodies from the camp,” Westbrook explained. “They just gave ’em shovels and said bury ’em where they drop.” Now ask yourself, How could 100K+ so called slaves converge onto one city? In Mississippi of all places? Did they have cell phones, Twitter, or Instagram?🤦‍♂️ The city of Natchez was most likely already their cities and those houses and luxuries were theirs. I would highly suggest researching all of the Massacres below and with what you know now with regards to the Negros Republicans in running the Republican Party during the 1800s, I would take a lot of the slave narrative with a grain of salt and look at thing from what seems to be a military coup.

We need more truths like this to come forward so we can fix things. I'm learning of so much corruption from the government and it seems to have started around the 1930's timeframe. We need to stand up to tyranny and help our brothers and sisters!

I remember in college doing research looking up congressional records. It was fascinating cause there was an argument between two sites. The government and probably the people down river wanted a damn or needed it. The two places was dinosaur national park or whatever by vernal
Utah and the other place was lake Powell. Well environmentalists or a group wanted dinosaur park and the bones saved so the other location lake Powell got the nomination. And it’s sad to see the government screw over native Americans still.
But it’s not surprising. Look at joe Biden on his second day in office he shut down oil drilling on public land and Native American reservations. I get reservations are in a trust held by the government or something for natives, but when joe Biden can cancel oil drilling or stop the use of Native American assets and their private property in freaking 2021 like it’s super clear that Native American reservations aren’t really sovereign at all. But then again the US doesn’t follow laws. The dollar is supposed to be a neutral reserve currency and they stole Russias foreign reserves which will lead others to stop using the dollar, or the U.S. stealing assets of others just because the poor sap is a rich Russian. Just because of their race or nationality they’re targeted with no due process or proving they broke any law. The government just takes assets. Canada freezing bank accounts of anyone that donated or bought a trucker lunch proves just how dystopian or tyrannical the government can be. Hopefully we don’t get programmable digital dollars or the future will really be grim. Sadly the masses just trust the government with no regard to history or nothing.

Um... have you not heard of the Dakota Access Pipeline and the huge protests by the Lakota of the Standing Rock Reservation? The Water Protectors? None of the Native Americans in the Dakotas (and a lot of non Natives) wanted the pipeline running under and through the water supply! There were huge protests which stopped the pipeline. The same with Keystone XL pipeline. Do some research before making blanket statements blaming Biden.

It's like they have a bitterness towards the word sovereign. We are all sovereign in the eyes of the Creator. No sovereignty, no Creator, = no liberty.

Learning this is new to me. I just found out that I'm a 1/4 Navajo a few years ago from my grandfather from my mother's side. Was full blooded Navajo. I really don't know anything about Navajo culture or history . Thank you.
