She was settled in more on stage, her 70s/80s seemed like a very wild time. Vocally mature, more relaxed and had some amazing adlib moments. Whether mainstream paid attention or not..to me it was her prime singing as I've watched quite a few of her live shows on here.
I have been in the last two hours going through versions of this song, including Nancy Wilson, Natalie Cole, Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Dean MArtin, Andrea Motiz, and I loved them all but Chaka Khan just blew the whole party out the park. What a rendition! Her voice (and her hair) are all over the place, up and down, in and out. The orchestra tries to follow her... You go, girl!
First time hearing Chaka's version of this classic. I'm a big fan of hers - never thought of her as a jazz singer, but she totally nailed it! The style, the feel is pure Chaka, but she held true to the standard, jazz vibe that made the song an American classic. Way to go, Chaka!!! Love this!!!
This is proof positive that Chaka, much like Aretha and Natalie, is a natural jazz vocalist. I love Chaka the R&B singer and Chaka the jazz vocalist. Unfortunately, the music industry forces musicians to choose a genre even if their talents are multifaceted.
I chiefly identify this song with Gloria Lynne. I always have and I always will. But cards on the table, CK steps up nicely on this track. Not that I didn't thank she would. But it's always a pleasant surprise when a song that you love reminds you of your favorite singer no matter who else does it, suddenly sounds as good or a tad bit better then what you're used to hearing. I also appreciate she sung it with respect and sincerity. The way it deserved to be sung.
This is Gloria Lynne's song. She was a great singer but very underated . Of course Chaka's voice is so unique and beautiful she always puts her stamp on it. It's nice to hear her rendition.
Have always liked this tune. I think this is what I would wish for my loved ones. For all. Happiness can be an elusive thing. It's not money, zillions of friends, fame... Find something to love. Someone to love. Hold it............ Hold on... Thanks U-tube Chaka, Friends... Rick POHL
You all kept talking about Gloria Lynn version so I went and listened to it😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣 it’s good but Chaka’s version is the one for me! Natalie Cole version is cool too but Chaka is the Queen Vocally, she sings anything and everything.
Chaka performs " I Wish You Love" - compose by Charles Trénet/ Albert Beach. Goodbye, No use leading with our chins, This is where our story ends, Never lovers, ever friends. Goodbye, Let our hearts call it a day, But before you walk away, I sincerely want to say: I wish you bluebirds in the Spring, To give your heart a song to sing; And then a kiss, but more than this I wish you love. And in July, a lemonade, To cool you in some leafy glade; I wish you health and more than wealth, I wish you love. My breaking heart and I agree That you and I could never be, So with my best, my very best, I set you free. I wish you shelter from the storm, A cozy fire to keep you warm; But most of all, when snowflakes fall, I wish you love. I wish you bluebirds in the Spring, To give your heart a song to sing; And then a kiss, but more than this I wish you love.
Good bye no use leading with our chins this is where our story ends never lovers ever friends Good bye let our hearts call it a day but before you walk away I sincerilly want to say I wish you blue birds in the spring to give your heart a song to sing and then a kiss but more than this I wish you love And in July a lemonade to cool you in some leafe glade I wish you health but more than wealth I wish you love My breakin' heart and I agree that you and I could never be so with my best, my very best I set you free I wish you shelter from the storm a cozzy fire to keep you warm but most of all when snowflakes fall I wish you love
Vocally and as a live performer, Chaka was on fire throughout the 90s.
She was also on FIRE in 2012 too.
She was settled in more on stage, her 70s/80s seemed like a very wild time. Vocally mature, more relaxed and had some amazing adlib moments. Whether mainstream paid attention or not..to me it was her prime singing as I've watched quite a few of her live shows on here.

Oh my lord, the diva of divas singing my favorite Frank Sinatra song in its proper jumpin' swing jazz form. Delicious you luscious thing!
Why Frank Sinatra....Sarah Vaugh's version is the definitive Version of :I Wish You Love"
@@dwightpowell6673 Can't find that version. Did you mean "Vaughan"? I can't find it under either spelling. Have you heard Frank Sinatra's version?
Prince called her "the voice of life". She certainly is!!!
What an amazing voice
Never heard this version of this wonderful classic. Chaka does it serious justice (with a little Sarah Vaughan thrown in), along with a swinging band!
Chaka could sing the phone book & I'd surely dig it
Pepper Williams One of the most underrated singers of her generation.
Similar to Frank Sinatra's 1964 rendition w Count Basie
Pepper Williams Yes sassy!
She did a great live version of Burt Bacharach's "Alfie," as well.
Great Chart by Peter, Listen to the saxes when it goes into the main tempo. Very basie. Great big band, swings like mad. Chanka Is lovin this.
A great French Classic sung in English by a great star. Fantastic.
Brava Chaka Khan, canzone bellissima
What an arrangement!
One beautiful Jazz Ballad...Thanks
phatest scoops from the bones !! massive sounds aswell! love it
What a voice...!
Yes sir!
FANTASTIC CHAKA!
Awesome! Sounds like a spin off of the Count Basie arrangement and Chaka's vocals fit perfectly!❤❤❤
Beautiful song and woman !!!!
chaka,, one of my long time favorites. nice work
it is a real treat listening to these kinds of rendition, an r&b songstress performing a standard classic levelling it to a jazz format.
This is proof positive that Chaka, much like Aretha and Natalie, is a natural jazz vocalist. I love Chaka the R&B singer and Chaka the jazz vocalist. Unfortunately, the music industry forces musicians to choose a genre even if their talents are multifaceted.
Even though Gloria Lynne's version is my favourite, there is nothing that Chaka can't sing and I like her rendition!
OHHHHHHH !!! I LOVE this version ! I need to get the audio. This is a terrific Fox Trot!
Miss Chaka Khan. Vocalist...if you write it she can sing it. Thank you and God bless. Thanks for the upload, Geepereet. Blessings
So great -- thank you for posting!
Awesome!! Thank you for this video.
Classikhan!..thats what that is!
The queen of funk baby !!!!
great take on that

Damn SHE IS THE BEEEEEEEEAST FOR THIS SONG 😍
Great tone!
Natalie nailed it, too. Let's call her the soft moon version. And Chaka the sun and fire version.

God yes!! thank you God!!
I love her, but this was not the song for her. Leave it to the songbirds. Love you but don't like this.
You need to leave the drugs alone, because you and your ears are f*cked up.
