    Get Justin Williams. He's listed has a 2nd line foward but only a 81 overall. That means he was not happy on his last team, his overall will get up once you sign him at 85

      I 100% agree seen 81 overall guys that are way better and because there morale is low so is there overall and u can get them for cheap then there morale goes back up once u have signed them

      +Samuele Toia We got some good players on our roster. Weber, Radulov, Gallagher, Empty Net Pacio, Sherbak and many more

      It will be easy. I've been lifting tires in the forrest all summer long.
      Also, imagine our powerplay:
      Pacio - Me - Radulov
      Weber - Markov
      70 pts garanted.
      We got some hidden gems in the minors ;)

    Joona Korpisalo is absolutely worth everything you have to give up to get him. He rockets to 92 OVR, in the 2019-20 season he played 38 of the first 40 games winning close to 80% of them (with a sick defensive corps in front of him 90-91, 89-86, 81-85 OVR respectively). Backup that year was an 85 OVR (played around 15 games the second half of the season - auto rotate was on the whole time), ended up winning the presidents trophy and the cup. Korpisalo is legit, and if his team can't or won't match your offer.... well, that's on them for poor management.

      I agree. Also from my experiences the year two draft only has one elite in veleno who goes 1st overall. So unless Johnny is set on getting the number one pick, using his picks for next year on a young elite goalie would be perfect

    Cal Foote IS actually a Canadian, he had the choice to play for either Canada or USA because he was born in Denver, but he wanted to represent Canada like his dad did. I guess EA didn't get the memo

    Heres what I would suggest to round out your roster.
    Defenceman: Justin Schultz.
    although he struggled in Edmonton (who didn't struggle?) when he was traded to Pittsburgh, he found his game and helped them win the Stanley cup last year. He's two years younger than Alzner and 40% cheaper! also, he retains enough potential upside that come trade deadline next year, he could easily be an 85-86 rated defenceman. also he's asking for 2 years at 3.5 Mil a year and that's well within your budget. that's also comparable with P.K. Subway's bridge deal he signed with the Canadians out of his entry level contract! it's a "show me what you've got in two years and prove to us you're a 6 million dollar defenceman".
    he'll gel with the young core of the Maple Leafs but still be a movable asset as you're not committing your future with him.
    oh, and did I mention he shoots right?
    Forward: Justin Williams
    he's a guy who's won the Stanley Cup finals multiple times, first with Carolina in 2006 and again with Los Angeles in 2012.
    he knows how to win and he'll provide your younglings with much needed veteran leadership and lessons that they'll take with them as the dynasty of the Superbman era begins. also, his asking salary is a mere 2 million a season for 2 years. between him and Justin Schultz, you're only committing 25% of your remaining cap space, and that 5.5 million will be freed up just as Mathews finishes his entry level contract!
    those are my two recommendations for your roster. you don't break the bank, and you get two impactful players who can make a difference!

    @markleclaire1640 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don't know if your file will do it, but when I did mine there are a couple of defenders that can be good assets to trade for Chris Bigras from Colorado ended up to be an 88 overall Top 4 D, and J. Bean from Carolina ended up being an 87 overall Top 4 D, both of these players were good trades and have low trade value for Elite potential players to possibly go after.

  • @marcohegner1995
    @marcohegner1995 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Johnny, why don't you try to trade foote for chainey and a draft pick (maybe 4th or 5th round). This trade would also make sense for anaheim (if they didn't trade any defender before) because they have a pretty young and solid d-core with Lindholm & Fowler (both elite potential) as their top 2 pairing, despres & vatanen (both top 4 potential) as their 2nd line pairing, manson as a top 6 potential defender and theodore as a top 4 potential defender on their 3rd line, with some young prospects like: G. Carlsson (70 rating, medium top 6 potential, 20 years of age), J. Larsson (71 rating, medium top 6 potential, 20 years of age), M. Peterson (63 rating, medium top 6 potential, 21 years of age) and maybe some others (these were just the one i saw when you showed foote in the anaheim contract list

  • @maxgustafson4282

    The scouting is like it was in old gen, when it's white it's exact, when it's green it's highly scouted, when it's yellow it's medium and red is low. Don't think of it as high medium and low potential, think of it as high medium and low scouted

      I love it. I only have one problem with it. The AI in Be A Pro sucks, though I'm not sure if it's just me, it doesn't help that I got drafted by Toronto either, but they can't break out, the defence pass instead of taking a shot at the blue line.
      Other than that, solid game.

    Johnny you're scouting idea is correct although there are other ways. I try to take low or medium ahl top 6 fwds in later rounds because they usually end up as at least top 9. Same for defence. I don't like taking high or exact unless it's legit and not bottom 6 or top 6 d.

  • @ivanwarrior37
    @ivanwarrior37 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    The player growth system is back to the NHL14 model where players don't grow into a higher potential class and low potential players have a VERY hard time growing, chainey might be better than foote. Red potential is the plague again except not contagious.
    Also you should still target Korpisalo, he only costs a 2nd round pick. In my personal GM mode he grew well.

  • @Envra
    @Envra 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Offer Brad a extra 1 million for 2 years that way he is sure to sign with you. He is perfect to join the leafs as he will bring that confidence into the locker room that the team needs. I have a feeling that if you did that Wendel Clarke might even join you guys as a trainer or a assistant coach because you made him that happy. A amazing veteran on ice with Brad and a amazing veteran in the staff with Wendel

      Brad marchand on the leafs? Seriously? Hes made so many dirty plays on the leafs in the past, he doesnt deserve to play with the blue and white! Thats like signing Chris Pronger with the Rangers, realistically that will never happen so why Marchand?

    • @Envra
      @Envra 8 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @goosegaming6830
    @goosegaming6830 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Okay Johnny i have a couple of things for you.
    When in the draft if you are thinking about trading up for a pick, sim pick by pick up to the pick you were thinking of trading for. If the player you want is still there you can do the trade. If he's not then you just saved a trade.
    I saw in the draft a certain person named dadanov. He was an exact 7th d-man. High 7th d-man can become up to 84 overall.
    I am the scouting master so call on me for the scouting boys.

  • @hagelsbagels34

  • @johnbiggs7181
    @johnbiggs7181 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Johnny potential in drafting works the exact same as it did in previous games in drafting. The color (low med high) is just how sure your scouts are that he is that position. In fact, unless it is exact you know for sure your scouts are off by a bit. And you know how much. Since they didn't really change the potential system at all just gave it a new skin.

  • @canadia-yall8554
    @canadia-yall8554 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Loving this series Johnny ! Keep looking to see if another video is up haha
    I think Alzner would be a good choice to help out Morgan defensively, give a leadership role to the young players, and he'd also fill a gap for the next few years until those prospects emerge.
    Marchand on the other hand would be fantastic beside Matthews. He's a good penalty killer, physical, and can still put up 50-60 points.
    I personally would go with Marchand, but that may just be because I want to see his name pop up in the sim against Boston.
    Go Leafs Go! Keep up the good work Johnny.

  • @LarencePersaud
    @LarencePersaud 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey Johnny, I hope you see my comment. I just wanted to throw in a little suggestion like you were saying. So signing Alex Chiasson wouldn't be a bad idea. he's a solid player, he's got good physical numbers, and if you look at his Puck Skills, Shooting, and Skating, they're pretty good too. Putting him on a line with Matt Martin wouldn't be a bad idea either and he only wants 1.025 million for ONE year. I repeat, ONE year only lol. plus he's an 82 overall and just 26 years old. not bad at all. you should consider signing him. I don't think you'll regret it too much. if anything, you can trade him at the trade deadline for a pick or something. good depth player overall. go after him. Sign him. I believe in you lol.

    Try to snag Marchand. I put him on a line with Matthews and Nylander and he put up 25 goals and something close to 70 points. I do like the idea you have with sharp if you decide on him over Brad Marchand. also Alzner would be a good addition to put with Reilly even if they are both lefties.

    Don't sign another D man to play in your top 6. Start the season with the 6 you have and if Carrick jumps up to an 84 or 85 then you can either put him with Reilly or bring up Gardiner to play with Reilly. Maybe just sign a depth/minor top 2 D man in case of injury. You also need a top 6 winger desperately especially if you want to make the playoff so maybe go after Marchand and then go for the most intimidating 4th line in the NHL by adding Brian Boyle and Alex Chaisson to play with Matt Martin.

    For Free Agency I'd say sign Winnik and Polak. They both love playing in Toronto and they're great defensive, veteran leaders in the locker room. They could teach the youngins how to deal with playing in Toronto as well. Go Leafs Go!

    Potential can change a lot of times. I had a late 4th round pick and his potential was low top 6 d. By 25 he became an medium elite and started scoring over 50 points every season

    Johnny I say you sign Alzner because he is the highest ovr dman in free agency and he's under the age of 30 and he only wants 5 mil.

      Plus your going to need a top 2 dman to play with rielly and you currently don't have one so he would be a good fit

    The 2017 draft is stacked. You have to trade for at least one stud in this draft. In my Toronto gm mode I have Lilgren, Foote, and cosmostis. It is unrealistic but your gonna need a stud. Cal Foote is an 87 and he's 25 in my gm mode. I expect him to get like 89 at tops.

    Johnny I think you should honestly go for that young RFA Goalie, what's the worst that can happen? I think it'd be great for the team because he's already 85 overall, plus Andersen is already getting a little old, by the time your team matures and they start coming in to their prime. Plus if he outgrows andersen you have an unrivaled 2 man punch, or you could flip Andersen for a young prospect/ some picks.

    When drafting in the later rounds, sort by potential and not projection. Pay attention to the 5 star skill categories and how high they are, as well as how accurate they are. A player may have 4 and a half star puck skills but all of those stats may be red (not accurate). If you find a player with 4 stars in Defense and all stats are yellow and green, he's likely a really good pick for that round. Projection does not mean much in terms of potential(an unscouted player may be projected to go in the top 5 and only be low top 6). When I play gm mode I search for players I have scouted a lot and have good, accurate star ratings. You can find elite players in the second round and serviceable NHLers even past the 4th round

    Go after the Korpisalo guy, at least give him an offer sheet. It's not like you need any more draft picks in the future.
    Check CBJ's cap space, and give the goalie an offer given the cap room the Blue Jackets have. You might get lucky if you check how much he wants for one or two years.

    Go for johnson. You could have an insane center core which would help for a push for the playoffs. If it's not working out, trade him at the deadline for a high pick or a right handed defenseman. Also, korpisalo gets really good. I once signed him and in two years he was 89 overall. But then he would conflict with andersen. All you would have to give up to get him is a 2nd and his value is much higher than that. So it's a steal. My advice.

  • @Carsnshoes28
    @Carsnshoes28 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Johnny in resigning you can offer lower than the suggested price and they will accept if its close but in free agency u have to offer more usually. It will save u lots of money when resigning players!

  • @xjayke
    @xjayke 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    For future reference.
    Franchise = 5 stars
    Elite = 4.5 stars
    Top 4 D/ Top 6 F = 4 stars
    Top 6 D / Top 9 F = 3.5 stars
    7th D / Bottom 6 F = 3 stars
    Scouting is no different from old gen, Johnny. The way it is worded is.

  • @cdxpac
    @cdxpac 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Alzner at 3 years around 5.5 would be a great signing He'd replace Polak and be that gritty top 4 d-man to compliment Reilly and Gardiner He's also 28 so after the 3 (which is great term for a FA if you ask me) years is up you could sign him for more of a top 6 role at a lesser amount
    Chiasson is a solid depth signing at 26 he could hang around the team for a while if he works out
    Id say go after Marchand since he is younger and again at 3 years you can keep for 2 then trade at the draft to free up cap space for matthews or keep him b/c he is a solid top 6 guy to compliment your smaller playmakers
    also zac smith or willliam karlsson wouldnt be bad 4th line centers either

    For the NHL:
    Your goalies and defense look good.
    For forwards, you need to sign a capable 4th line centre in Free agency.
    For the rest of your bottom 6 wingers, you have a pick from Rychel, Martin, Leipsic, Lupul, Sosh, Hyman, Leivo and Kapanen. It's your call on whether to sign some vets or play the young guns.
    You could also get Marchand or Sharp for the top 6 and move Komarov down to the bottom 6.
    For the AHL:
    Goalies you're good.
    Sign a few mid 70 overall d-men to fill out your d-core. Dermott and Nielsen are not good enough to play in the AHL.
    For centres you're good with Holland, Froese, Logan Brown and Gauthier.
    For wingers, you have Connor Brown, Sprong, Lindberg, Johnson, Timashov as well as all the guys listed above who don't make the NHL squad.

    it would be great if in the future you could go pick by pick in the first round when you are either trying to trade up for a guy or to see what the potential of a player is when you pass on him. It would you allow you to trade up if a guy you want drops a few spots and would make it a lot more suspenseful

    Very minor thing...but instead of thinking about trading for the 6th pick overall before drafts (and hoping a certain player falls), why not just sim each pick one at a time. That way, if he is still there when you think you can trade for the pick, you are guaranteed to get him, but if he was picked earlier you don't lose anything
