As 15 years SONE I will tell you a little hint how to tell whether they're doing live or not. It's the eyebrow. Especially Taeyeon, Jessica and Seohyun they have some strain on their inner eyebrow when they are really singing live. Also of course because I listened to their studio version a lot so I can tell what's different in live version.
To me Seohyun is an excellent vocalist. She deserves her place as main vocalist to me after Sica’s departure (even if it’s not official) but I am amazed by her technique.
Seohyun is such a gem!! Even though there isn’t anyone who can sing as high as Jessica, Seo really tried to pay homage to Jess in delivery without imitiating her.
+ even though Jess has more vocal talent and ability (what you’re born with), I would say Seo has proved herself just as legitimately in technique and skill.

It's an F#5 which is the same highest note that Tae and Seo do in Twinkle! I love their power but Jess hits it in the studio with such ease like it's nothing 😂🥰 I get why live it was heavily backed up though - it's unrealistic to expect that after such an intense choreo like The Boys, especially with all the leg work in the bridge/dance break.
@@divadream not just bcos of the choreo tho but you really lose your breath by singing it 4x. The line is too long and you barely can breath in between. It may have the same note as Tae but belting is easier than hitting something while barely breathing esp the pronunciation of "girls" and "boys" in the last part is very difficult - Girls is a closed vowel and Boys cant be pronounced sa "BAys" which is usually the trick in belting, changing vowels in high notes to AH or OW
aside from the eyebrow thing in the comments, there's also the movement of taeyeon's skin around her lips or at the edge of her lips. If you can see her mouthing it not in a very commercial ad-like smile/mouth movement, then it's probably live. her lips would sometimes move differently with a certain aggression during lives and the skin around her lips would do something simialr to the eyebrow twitching 😂❤ and sometimes you could just tell that's it's live with the intensity of how much she's enjoying the performance. Taeyeon's lipsync can be very telling, Jessica's lipsync are usually very obvious (she would sometimes have that same lip movement aggression like taeyeon during lives) and Seohyun's lipsync are usually the tricky ones because we all know the consistency on her voice. ❤

Like she had a good jump in technique but she's still not better than Jess yet sones keep on ranking her 2nd since they are claiming Jessica had a regressed when Amin and legit kpop vocal analysts (not the tiktokers) have confirmed several times that they are just equal since both issues are consistency. Hence, if we will compare them it should be by their best and they have confirmed that Jessica's best>Seohyun's best. But as of now, they are still equal.

She was the first and original lead vocalist(tiff and sunny were changed to lead vocal during genie i think) for a reason, she only went up from that

She didnt change the key, she just add an extra note that is within the complimentary harmony of the key register
