I play games to get away from the aggravation of real life, I play them to relieve stress levels. I enjoy a challenge, this is not a challenge, this is an ugly mess of frustration and despair.
Here’s hoping Ark 2 does better and they didn’t blow all the budget just getting Vin to grunt in cutscenes.

Here is my taming tips that will help, a baby Diplo or rex will give a instant feed tame so u can ride it, when riding it eat rare flowers to get wild Dino's to come to you. If the carcha won't eat in the trap move out of render and come back. Hope these help you guys for a faster tame.
I tried going out of render, and the Carcha de-spawned in the trap. Stoopid buggy game.
@@jeffreywood924 yes 2 things can happen when you go out of render he will escape out the trap or be biting it. Sad the Devs don't fix it really.
Moving out of render doesn't help either.
Do I just throw the baby rex from the cryopod near him, does it need to be cryosicked, or do I need to kill the baby rex?
You could also use baby spino’s as well

On official PVE you can just use baby rexes for stage 1. You only need 1 to fill the friendly bar. You can use your own tames for stage 1 in PVE but not stage 2
I tried to tame one the other day and got it trapped. But when i got some dead bodies next to it the carcharo would sniff the bodies and not eat them. Tried leaving render area and returning. Did it all on foot. Nothing worked. Ended up just releasing it. :(
Rexes work in every stage but traps causes some issues, I tamed a lot
with just baby rexes and no trap
@@xfalsesoulsxx7560 hey same thing happened to me got it to 85% re trapped it and pulled corpse after corpse wouldn’t eat nothin. I revised my trap with a beh gate on both ends and used 4 gates in between making a shoebox shape. I think the carch gets stuck on the gates if they’re in a circle or semi circle. After changing the trap it worked perfectly.
I found going out of render distance and going back in helped when feeding it. I was on gen 2 so it was easy to fly away with tek suit.
Not sure why I watched the whole video, well maybe its because I think you make the funniest comments at times so your videos are entertaining as well as informative. We tamed 2 on a highly boosted server, tried the Fatdog pillar trap and the 4 gate trap and it took at very least 6 hours to get 2 of them (I'm sure it was more than 6 hours but I wasn't really counting) on a highly boosted server. In the end it was literally easier to tame them without a trap vs the pillar or 4 gate trap.
I've had some success with captain fatdog's pillar giga trap. not as much build to clip on. Cheap on mat's, too. Of course, Steve's build works great, too.

Me and my tribe member did it with the 4 square trap, once it ate, we left render and brought back a body that was near by for it to eat and it worked, we used old stegos that we had and it went up quickly.
Have to love ARK and all of its buggy ways and all of the hardships per usual. lol
We use a bird to kite Andrews closer and killed at least three for quick feed for pve. When it starts to get buggy we have to log off cause going out rendering view didnt work for us. We tamed a 145 at 1x, not perfect tame but at least we tamed it.

When it sniffing and doesn't eat, jump on maewing, get out of render distance and it will work. The issue is sometimes it would render out of the trap.
We appreciate all your efforts Steve! Thank you for making these videos, mistakes and all. How would you go about this then, if you can't use your own tames? We had a trap that used about 6 gates, but ran into the same problems. It doesn't seem to like being contained a second time.
For befriending it just feed it a baby rex, on ps4 pve we killed 1 baby x-rex lvl 411 n it instantly became friends
Perfect example of lack of play testing.
We figured out thiugh if you use a canal or small corridor and put gates on either end, it works perfect. Still go through gates but better than constant bugs when its fully enclosed
Love you're content, you make exploring the ark so much better.
I wonder if you could build like, a giant slaughter pen and just lure a bunch of wild dinos into it and then do your best fox in a hen house impression

Hello Steve, Thanks for making these videos and showing the wrong way of doing things, yea I tried the 4 doors buggy as hell, and did it with a bigger compound with a behemoth tek gate to lure it in. Had a few buggy still but not as bad as the four door, so yea, thank you

I used your method in OVE and it bugged on me then as well. I was on Valguero in the snow and killed about 6 rhinos and dire bears and couldn't get it to eat any of them. Sniff but no chomp.
you dont need ghilli armor to do the stage. i have litteraly tamed multiple of them without trap or armor and the only tame the carch will attack you when you hold a corpse is if its in rage mode witch you can clearly see and doesnt last long
You don't need any special armor at all to do the first part of taming. As soon as they start the sniffing animation drop the carcass and back away. They won't attack you. I did it wearing cloth armor.
got to wounder if all the crap just to get one is really worth it.was frustrating just watching lol. My son would have raged quit long ago or cheated like he did to get a giga. just use my trap its much better and you will get a perfect tame
I think it doesnt eat sometimes because its still aggroed onto the first corpse you brought, you have to feed it that one first
or just don't use a trap :P use a bat/wyvern to bring creatures over
it have nothing to do with the corpse near by it. it dose the same even if there is no corpse at all
I had to harvest the first corpse before it would want to eat again if it bugged out and ran away the first time

I used your trap and grown wasted stat mutations, to tame a Carchar. (I was sad to see my cyan oxygen mit Rex go, but my new Carchar made it all better). Thank you for making my taming and breeding life easier, with your trap. I’m sorry you even had to suffer this, for the fools.
It only bugs out when it does the sniffing animation and you dont feed it directly after that. When you killed the Parasaur it did the sniffing animation when you were dragging it nearby if you would have taken it to the Carch if would have eaten it. Because you set it down after the animation it bugged out.

Going in and out of render worked for me
i just got one last night using dino gate in an L shape. trap it, kill baby rexe's break the gate and kill then repeat. but if you put it back in the trap before the taming bar goes so you don't die lol
Try to space all the gates a little bit not just the last one, my two tames got out until I did that
I am on pve official tamed a few.. Bring tek suit 2 sets or sinomacrops with high stamina, for the first step i use yuti babys level 200 worked fine bring like 6 babys a shotgun or sword elixier and if you want rare flowers.. for step 1 you NOT need to trap it wait until its standing still and not moves then go about 100-120 meters away from him in position and kill a yuti baby quick, drag the body to it and it should eat it, now you should be able to instant ride it.. Now you need to fill up the kill counter up to 100 before the timer run out to avoid losing alot taming efficiency you need to repeat the first step again and on 70% you can use a elixier and its yours.. you just need to be passioned

Another item that could help is a sleeping bag. At least you spawn close to the taming area.
But what if you have all the diplo's have them all out and cryosick them at once and then start gaining trust and once it's full kil the diplo's and tame it would that not work?

I fought for 5 hrs trying to tame the b**** a lvl 75 Fem. I found out that going out of rendering can help sometimes help as when I get back into rendering the bar would be almost max to ride it. But would always be about 10 points away. And eventually despawn on me.
Ok I lied lol didn’t despawn on me smh i got angry after 5hrs and ate the damn thing with my gig.
That’s how it is with taming the damn hawks, a royal pain in the ass

Man I wish I would of saw this I tried for 3 days befor getting kicked off and panicking xD
What they can and can't harvest is whack. They can harvest cactus sap, wood, thatch from cactus trees but nothing from normal trees. They can harvest crystal, obsidian, sulfer, etc (rock stuff) from golems. They can NOT harvest any extinction benches, light poles, picnic tables.
Oh use the bat elixir to increase the taming bar by I think it's 30% instant

Here is how to fix one if the carchar is stuck in a infinite loop eating something bring a strong creature to eat the body when its trying to eat it
When I tried taming it he just sniffed it but doesn’t eat it or sometimes he is just aggressive and just biting the metal Dino gateway, like he won’t even sniff sometimes. ANY TIPS??
after watching this video and taming a few on official pve it was a nightmare atrocious even on x3 with a sanguine elixir from the bat it was still atrocious too tame even shooting a high level mutated baby t rex to drag too the carcha i still had to ride the dino 3 times because the taming efficiency is absolutely awful they need some changes quality of life etc. i felt the pain or annoyance so i know how you felt with this video or trying to do it lol
This will be horrible on official pve xD Thank you for showing everything, :) I did not get so far as you did. lol, Are on Crystal isle and the Carcha only spawn in the desert. And only some bugs are there. It's not possible to get the hexagon up fully. And leading the Carcha away dont work either. He runs back to where he was from the start after a while.
They spawn on the east side of the volcano as well

You can’t get off you have to let it buck you once it’s back in the trap or it will act weird and won’t eat

I know it's a late comment but I laughed my head off watching this vid. Why? Because my first 2 carcha attempts looked exactly like that so I know the frustration. Going out of render didn't work for me - the thing was walking around the outside of the trap when I got back. The 3rd went much better mainly due to the fact that by then I didn't really care if it ate me or not. This one did the same trick, sniff and ignore so I eventually stockpiled a heap of corpses inside the trap AND boom, it suddenly ate them all and I got the green bar! Luckily on Ragnarok where they spawn the area is full of Bronts and Dips - just make sure to hit them from the side to avoid taking damage. I use the level ups on speed during that period so I can run through packs of them biting as I go. By the 5th Carcha I had worked out a trick where I could trap a Giga AND Carcha side by side at the same time. Just run straight through the Giga trap, under the legs of the Carcha and out the other side. They eyeball each other while you set the last gate. Trang the Giga while the Carcha will look on passively. Even with narcs and Toxins on it the Giga comes real close to waking so pump more darts into it till it's yours. By that time the Carcha has become used to you and you can run in and out of it's trap as it will MOSTLY look on. Lol. It'll eat straight away then. It's fun riding the Carcha while the Giga is following. :)
How could we get this at a 100% taming efficiency on small tribes though when you can’t I claim Dino’s?

Circles won’t work to good. Build a shoebox it seems to get stuck on the gate edges when in a circle.
I tamed max 150 without a trap on gen2 during 3x weekend took 2 rides tamed with 95% effectiveness on official orp cluster 6 on Xbox.
on x4 it just takes 2 bites :P
okay so it's bugged on a 4 gate method but the eating part is buggy for me even with your trap design and I already tried increasing the size of the of trap and it didn't help
edit: my current solution is that just use the trap to prevent it from escaping once it's friendly and to feed it corpses in the open and if you can't feed corpses in the open well git gud
It's not the trap, it's PVE. It's a two person job for any kind of good efficiency on PVE.

These situations are exactly why I strictly play on unofficial boosted servers, I couldn't imagine going through this much headache for 1 Dino , on the server I play on , just trap it, feed it 2 trikes, get on and tames on the first thing it eats with a 100% efficiency, even a max level , takes longer to tame a level 1 dodo

I tried taming one for the first time last night. It kept glitching so bad. After 30 minutes and having my armor broke and almost dying, I lost my cool and blasted it and killed it.

Dude this kept happening to me. I trapped one then brought like 10 tames of mine amd all of them got wasted but maybe 1. He would destroy the food before I could actually get it to him. I just said screw it.

Have you tried using baby Rex's? They instantly befriend the carch.
or baby yuti? was working that way too, plus baby need much less weight, after first feed i didnt cage it anymore just killed baby yuty and bring it to carcha. problem was stray wolf trying to eat corpse XD.

So get this I tamed one went back to my house uncrowded you know set it behind my house I turn around and it disappeared it didn’t die it didn’t run away it completely disappeared into the arc void I don’t know what’s going on with it but this is the most buggy Dino in all of arc

You can do 4 but it's unnecessary. Trap initially with 3 using a cliff wall for your 4th side when you trap it. Do the taming stuff but ride it back to the original trap when it's timer is expiring and close it back in with 1 more gate. But why....
You should do the pve method because in pve you can't unclaim and kill the Dino's I tried it instead you gotta run around and kill lots of Dino's quickly and avoid getting hit at all

@@NOOBLETS There is a method you could do is fill a box of turtles before taming or something you can pick of course on official pve you can't pick any Dino's so maybe luring a lot of easy snacks for it to eat. I did tame a donut with your first method but second one couldn't be done and had to run around eating everything. That was fun I was on center lava island and the rexs were effecting the taming effectiveness 216 wasn't terribly bad tbh. Other than that keep up your amazing videos I've been watching you since I was a baby nooblets.
They definitely don't like eating when they are trapped I had success with placing Gates down near Cliff so one side was open and it would eat also you can start the friendly process by killing your own babies on PVE but then you have to kill wild creatures for taming
@@Stephain I don't know if you're on a dedicated server but on official PVE you can shoot your tribe or you can shoot your Dino But Dinosaurs cannot damage each other or your tribe mate

When it bugs out and won't feed for part two fly out of render and come back and then it will feed
i am playing on official pve and trapped carcha never eat anything and i tried many many times, i tried moving out of render, tried different tips given on the net nothing works
once trapped it will stop eating, plain and simple , i even had a carcha trapped inside an enemy base, it could walk freely inside the base, but same problem, it doesn't eat, it does the sniffing animation, thats it,
even carcha on the loose will stop eating if they are stuck behind a rock (happened to me twice) had to break the rock for the carcha to move again and become agro
the only carcha i managed to tame was a level 135 on valguero in the snow biome next to the wyvern trench, of course it was a carcha that was free to move around,
i fed it 3 bears, then once mounted i killed the tons of mamoth bear and rhino around,, at 3x i got it to 70%,
then unmount to feed it elexir (it didn't work) the carcho kept attacking dino wich got it over 100 hit because i could remount it , had to do feed it 3 more bear and finally was able to finish the taming, it was a pain in the ass
also tried to feed it baby drakes but the baby vanish once killed

I think you're unintentionally bugging it, unless you've figured it out and are just doing what people would probably do if they didn't notice the bug. Each time it bugs out is when you bring a corpse near it but don't feed it. You drop the food out of its reach in an attempt to gather food together for it just as it starts sniffing. Since it was sniffing it's targeting locked on that body but can't chew it, you then bring it other food which is sniffs but it's targeting is bugged so it won't eat. Obviously, their code should account for this sort of thing but if you figure out how to reproduce the bug then you can learn to avoid it. It'd be interesting to test if this is how the bug works.
Yep, happened to me to and it was as if I was seeing the code myself. Went a little too close so it started sniffing but wasn't close enough to eat. Now it's bugged. Wild Card is really shite at programming. I guess if I destroy the corpse it "locked on" it should clear the target.
Edit: Yeah I was correct. Destroy body - Log out and in and it resets
It's bugging when eating due to the view being blocked by the structure.

i get they wanted to make taming newer dinos unique and all, but god damn. trap and tranq works on half the dinos in the game, give us a break for the fancy ones.
