Whenever I talk with kids, I always use videos and pictures from things like this. Kids always say that they'll never need to know this stuff "in the real world", but shut up real quick when you can show how it applies to regular things all throughout the day. One of my favorite channels is First Class Amateur because he shows how you can use rope for everyday tasks around the house, and when you really burrow in to the subject, you see that it's often just understanding basic physics. Plus, it's something everyone can do.
Very cool, and I look forward to the rest of the story. All those branches, all the unknown pressures and unknown weaknesses, it's like you're taking apart a 3-dimensional puzzle and if you do it in the wrong order it can explode on you. 😬
Great work, looks like a very tricky removal. I'm sure you and Jorge will be able to get this done safely. I am excited to see how the rest of this removal goes. I had to leave tree work for a better paying career field, but my passion for saws and tress lives on deep in my heart.
Blair, real life game of Jenga. Not a complaint but an overhead drone perspective would be great on a challenging job like this. You and Jorge are an arborist version of the Wallendas. Great series. Stay safe.
More like chess👍🏻 as for catching all the good footage, I almost need someone to follow us. I have a drone but don’t really use it very much as it has a short flight time and I’m focused on the job. I do what I can
Excellent content as always, we love episodes, amazing evaluation you give before cutting, can't wait to see how you deal with those bees(honey bees or wasps?) Thank you!
The nailbiter of a job thanks for sharing being in tree work myself for over 30 years. What a tangled mess so happy to see it work out as good as it can. Joe
Another fun job. Everything in the worst possible location and one wrong cut and tons of angry Oak will have the last laugh. Be safe with those diabolical Oaks that have branches going in every impossible direction as it's kind of hard to guess where they want to go. Looking forward to the series...great stuff Blair.
@@arboristBlairGlenn I watch them all but not at the keyboard to comment always. If I can't sleep and I'm hooked up to my CPAP machine at night all I can do is use the mouse and that is when I watch mostly. Always lurking, you can be assured...
Wow that’s amazing that Jorge and you have worked together for 28 years!!!! That’s a long time. It would very interesting to hear more about that and his story. Thanks for the video Blair👍🏾
I honestly don’t know how long this will take. I’m guessing three more days (if I can leave the wood). I have friends who may come get it for firewood later so I’m pushing for that to save them some money.
@@arboristBlairGlenn here, mikado is a pick-up sticks game: one stick should be taken up wihout moving others...more or less what you have to do with these branches 😏
My students complain about having to learn physics. They need to watch this.

Absolutely correct. Need to slow down and see clearly all the pressure points.
You seem to pick the hardest ways to get firewood. Good job.
Harvesting cordwood on our own property got a chuckle from your post.
And GOOD firewood at that!

Tree work is a passion for me. I need to be working in the trees and working outdoors. I make enough but certainly not getting rich!
How about buying me a coffee?

Working together for 28 years. That is no longer boss, worker. That is family.
We are a team that respects each other and we hear each other out. I do maintain my boycott ability as the liability stops with me.
Blair could you have rigged that house end off of that other oak right there and attack the base up to the top?
Nvm I see the bees haha
So many ways to do the same thing
Fantastic job so far. I love the technical stuff like this. I’m always trying not to do more damage than was already done,….
I take pride in protecting the client’s property. Stay tuned for more to come.

Honey bees are far enough away the unless we irritate them, I’m thinking they will be okay. (I hope)😬
Looks like a house grew up around a tree😁
I call it tree janga but sometimes it feels like chess
Chess is a good analogy as you need to see your moves ahead of time. (And don’t take your hand off your piece!)
@@arboristBlairGlenn..." You took your hand off the piece...!! " No, I did not..." Yes, you did...!! " Yea, fond memories...LOL..!!
I'm interested to see the progress. I hate e emergency work but I love the challenge. I also love my Hobbs lifting device....
I don’t have the Hobbs but see the value.
Big job Take care 👍👍
And more to come
Looking forward to the next one :)
Stay tuned
Awesome video! Those situations are tough! I will be watching the series 🫡
Step by step. Fortunately, client is not in any rush
My gas powered rope winch would come in rather handy in a situation like this, if you could get (find) any lift...`
I have the Ronin Battery rope climber that I will likely use to get up in the higher Valley Oak. Saves energy
Thanks for the videos!
Copper lines seemed like they might be for an air conditioner’s refrigerant, not sure…

You may have discovered a new species: octopus oak. Looks as if somebody fed that tree too much Superthrive.
It is all over the place!
That one is a puzzle!

Yes, I agree we want to hear that story!
I have more experience with Jorje consistently than any other person
I have so many stories. I have started a book. Up to page 60. It’s called “50 years in the trees”. Likely be a digital pdf with links to videos
took me a little while to understand what the situation was there, people are lucky the tree went over relatively slowly I think!
I believe it did go slow. No witnesses
I would call it a Dynamic situation. And oak is Heavy!
Very very heavy
Do you ever use a chain hoist and slings to support large branches?
We use different tools and techniques all the time but you do need something to tie into or support from underneath.
Yay for future episodes :) May they go as well as episode 1 did.
It will likely be a couple of weeks.
As always great work Blair
Thanks Leon
Oooh, that was Part 1 😀 I look forward to parts 2, 3, 4.... 5? lol

??
@arboristBlairGlenn you have to judge the weight and balance of the tree you're removing limb by limb.
