Had a 690 for 2 years now and have mixed feelings. On the one hand a super handy motorbike, you only have to think that you want to take the curve and it will follow. Then there's the power from below... great for narrow and mountainous routes. But on the other hand, despite regular care according to the workshop manual, I have had around 2000€ in repairs in the 2 years and that is definitely too much. At 12000 one of the camshaft bearings burst and blew the cylinder head apart, 2000 km later the shift shaft sensor broke, again less than 200 km later a weld broke in the catalytic converter and the tank seal was so porous after only 7 years that it had to be replaced had to. So definitely not a reliable everyday bike, but when it does go it's really fun

A little bit too noisy lately and I am thinking about the rocker's clearances going out of spec (even though it has only 2.5k on the odometer)... On a different note: how are you? In which country are you now?
I'm in Argentina, it's very nice here! With 690 engine it's always good to check clearances, and on Enduro it's even easier than on Duke, due to different frame. Also, you can buy a valve spacer set in advance, you'll need it anyway (I bought a Hotcams set from ebay, it was around 100$ if I remember correctly). Btw, I think the louder noise at 2.5k is not valves, it's most likely the oil. Motorex seems to degrade and loose viscosity a bit fast, so I used to change it roughly every 5k km, and if you ride off-road much - maybe 2.5k is enough for the oil:)
I will never get KTM. So many people have problems with them and KTM service don’t care and doesn’t help them. I have 2 friends that used to own KTM and they will never buy them again.

Do you have any thoughts about the KTM 200 Duke? I'm researching affordable, (very affordable) not used, street/highway legal bikes.✌🏽👍🏽
Very nice bike! It's very good option, probably the best in its class. Get the NG version with ABS:)

Too many maintanance issues to be a best bike
I have the same hi-viz bell mx9 like your's.
I will never get KTM. So many people have problems with them and KTM service don’t care and doesn’t help them. I have 2 friends that used to own KTM and they will never buy them again.
