A factorial is just a symbol used in mathematics. It is the ! or exclamation mark. If I had 4!, then I would multiply 4 x 3 x 2 x 1 or if I had 6! I would multiply 6 x 5 x 4 x 3 x 2 x 1

Odds of winning doesn't help. You need software and statistical filters to reduce the amount of combinations! Without a powerful hard and software not much chances. Think about nowadays machines doing calculus/mining for bitcoins from blockchains..

You have to keep in mind not every number will play.
A entire group of numbers are omited from the draw. In that lay out 20s were not played.

I have a question/dilemma about a math problem for you math experts: There's a sports lottery game where there's 14 football matches (each match can end in 3 ways, the local team wins=1, there's a draw=X, or the visiting team wins=2). Let's say for instance I have to guess 10 of those matches (1, X or 2). What are the chances of randomly guessing any of those 10 matches out of 14? I looked on various sites and they used the formula ''3 to the power of 10'' resulting in 1 in 59049 chance but it's incorrect and it's a ridiculously large number too, they calculated the chances assuming there's 10 matches in total and not 14. How can I calculate step by step the correct chances of guessing 10 out of 14 matches?

It’s called a factorial, it’s usually denoted as ! in an algorithm, and it means exactly that; you multiply down from whatever number it is next to.

Question please. In my country there is a ticket which I can choose 7 balls although the machine picks 6. How do I calculate it ?? I make 7 numbers but I only need 6
divide the probability of the first 6 numbers (total) by the possibility of the 7th number.
so if you only picked 6 numbers and it was 15,000,000/1. then divide that by the possibility of a 7th number on its own. eg. 1/43. so its actually much better odds. (I'm drunk... please double check what I've said)

If there are 1000 total combinations available and you own 10 tickets (10 combinations), that means your odds of winning is 1 in 100, or 1% chance.
so the odds of winning the lottery are almost a thousand times better then what I've calculated before.

Nice video Statisticsfun!.The problem is correct when we use combination, the formula is the correct one, and that give us the 1/13,983,816 odds to win the lottery. But I have one doubt, I tried to look the problem in a more practical way, and I believe that we need to use the permutation formula to solve this problem, because lets say that the winner number is: 123456, but if you have the ticket 654321, you are not the winner, but with combinations both numbers are the same. What do you think?.
If I'm not mistaken a lottery machine would read 654321 as 123456.
In lottery combination is enough to win, if you got same arrangement (permutation) then it has same value of winning on a ramble combination of the result.
