Our family has only cruised Disney. We have nothing but praise for the cleanliness, customer service, shows, activities. We absolutely love Disney! They've hooked us. While theres lots for the kids, theres also lots for adults. Beautiful adult only areas, clubs. And our kids LOVE the kids clubs. They spend all their time there, and Dad and Mom get lots of relaxation time. Its perfect for us!
Disney is the best. I am completing the grand slam oct 2020. If I were you I would try a ship like the Mariner or the navigator on Royal. I think you would enjoy them. Castaway cay is the best but should go try the perfect day at coco cay with Royal now.
I have sailed on 35 cruises. Royal Caribbean, Carnival, Holland America, Princess & Norwegian. I think everyone should start with Carnival (the fun ship) but l agree compare branch out & find the ship & cruise line that works for you.
I would like to know if Japanese companies hire non-native speakers as long as they speak Japanese at an advanced level. What do you know about Japanese cruise companies? Thank you!
I have been on all 3 of the mass market lines, and on other lines that are no longer in existence. We simply cannot afford to go on any of the mid-market or luxury lines so far. Out of the 3 mass market lines, we like Carnival best as we feel as though we get a consistent positive experience and do not feel as though we are missing out if we do not pay for any upsells. Their rooms are ample for all categories, as the extra 40+ square feet for an interior at the same price or less makes a 7 night cruise more bearable. That said, I agree wholeheartedly with what Tony says here. You have to try more than one cruise line to understand what you like so that you are able to spend your hard earned money and vacation time well.
Royal (my only line so far) has never given me a reason to look elsewhere, but I do want to explore other lines and see first hand just how they do things and what the vibe is. The one thing holding me back is I only have the time and budget for two cruises a year right now, so I stick to what I know will (should) be a great experience that I'm familiar with, but when those factors open up, I do want to explore other lines like Celebrity and Norwegian, though Carnival Pride is my other hometown ship, so the convenience of being an Uber ride away is a factor in that as well.
We have sailed on Paquet, Cunard, Norwegian, Holland America, Carnival, Princess, and Royal Caribbean. When people ask me which line I prefer best, I respond that is like asking which child I like best. They each have their pluses and minuses. I am glad that I have experienced different lines, even though it means less loyalty points on our current all around favorite. We love to cruise and we pick our next cruise on whatever deal we can get and when it is convenient to go.
Love, love, love Holland America... Food, service, entertainment, itenary and value for your dollar. Yup, for the more mature cruiser who likes a more elegant and regal cruise.
Good to know, thanks Mike. We are sailing with HAL to Alaska next year and I've heard lots of great things about them. We're really excited to try another (our fourth) line and see some of Alaska and Canada for the first time.
Of the cruiselines I have been on, I enjoy different elements from each line. Not every ship is going to have everything but I like to do the things that make me happy on a ship and that is the beauty of cruising. Take care
I've sailed on Carnival Triumph, Carnival Victory, Celebrity Mercury, NCL Sun, NCL Jewel, Celebrity Summit, and NCL Jade. With two upcoming cruises on Celebrity Eclipse and Summit (again) Yes I prefer Celebrity. But I am in my late 50's so I don't need the party atmosphere anymore.
Hubby and I have.done 7 cruises- our first was RC- not a great experience. Took us many years before we were willing to try cruises again. We changed to Disney and have done 6 Disney cruises. Super loyal - expensive yes but get what you pay for
Totally agree. and remember if you book when it is announced you pay lots less. I will become gold after my next one. Cant wait for the "wish" But I have enjoyed Royal lately as well.
Nearest cruise port can be a choice criteria. For example Carnival does not Sail out NY too frequently while Royal and NCL do. Driving to a port instead of flying can significantly reduce your travel bill. Also Princess seems to be more present in the Western part of the country.
Our first cruise was our honeymoon on the NCL Norway in 1994. We loved it and decided to choose a line that had the ships we liked the best and the best repeaters perks system. Royal Caribbean won and we went on the Voyager next one year after it was built. We have stuck with Royal and have been very happy. After our trip on Harmony of the Seas in 2 weeks we will be diamond in the perks system. We can't wait to book on board the Harmony for the newly amplified Oasis as diamonds for November 2020! Love your vlogs Tony & Jenny all your tips are so helpful even to experienced cruisers. Hope you like the little trinket I sent you in appreciation of all your great tips!
Thanks Tony!!! That was an awesome idea. I agree! Try other ships! You would be surprise what you might enjoy from that ship. Everyone's choice is different which makes you an individual. Plus you learn from others.
We been on three different cruise lines. Started with one cruise line and did 3 cruises and tried another for itinerary. Did a couple of cruises and tried another for itinerary to Panama early this year. Will be taking a family cruise in February with the second cruise line. Have another cruise in 2021 with this same cruise line because it is going where we want to go and the time we want to go. Will be looking at another cruise the end of 2020 with a forth cruise line. Liked things on all the ships we have been on and you are right they all do it different.
We've chosen the cruise line based on the itinerary, timing and price in the past too. All the major lines seem to be good so that's not really a deciding factor for us. Our next cruise is part of a land cruise tour so we didn't chose the line this time, but we're looking forward to seeing what HAL is like. It will also be our first cruise sailing out of North America so we'll be able to compare other things like boarding procedures.
At this point only carnival just because of the price for a family! Next one though I want it to be wither Mardi Gras or Royal Caribbean oasis class ship!
We’ve cruised Carnival, Princess and Royal Caribbean multiple times. We have our personal likes and dislikes for all three lines. Will cruise on Holland America in a couple weeks....have heard many, not so flattering opinions for this line.... anxious to check them out for ourselves. We love cruising and look forward to many more sail always!!
Thanks Tony, great discussion starter. We have cruised on Holland America, Princess, Celebrity, Carnival, Norwegian, Viking and Cunard. As you said, they are all different and I can’t say I have a favorite. We have been on 20+ cruises and our criteria has always been Itineraries first. One time we took an inaugural cruise because we wanted to try this new ship. We won’t do that again. Our cabin Stewart was great but staff on the rest of the ship were obviously in training. I won’t elaborate, but that Cruise was challenging.
Great topic Tony. We've done three cruises with three different lines, P&O Australia, Princess and Carnival. We'll be taking our fourth cruise next year with Holland America Line so we're not very loyal so far. P&O and Princess have a joint loyalty program here so we have gone to the gold level there already and I would be happy to cruise with either line again and maybe advance further in the program. Our Carnival experience was pretty good too. They all have pros and cons. One of our dreams is to take a cruise on Cunard as that seems the pinnacle of ocean cruising but there are other small lines out there that would be good to try too.
Hey Tony! I've been on two lines that are now defunct - Premier and Fathom. We've also been on Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Princess, and MSC. Our two favorites are Celebrity and Princess out of those. Hope you're doing well! Chris
I have cruised with Disney 4 (2 with kids and 2 without) times, Royal 2 times, Carnival 3 times and NCL 1 time. Out of all of those Disney is my number 1 and I will be completing the Disney grand slam (all four ships) October 2020. Royal will have to be my number 2. I have gone with a friend of mine on 2 cruises with mariner of the seas and majesty of the seas and I really enjoy them so I have a cruise coming up in October of this year on the Navigator for my 17th wedding anniversary as well as one again on the Navigator on February 14th 2020 with my wife and three girls. I cant wait to see what trouble you get into with Don!!! Enjoy Asia!!
We have done 1 princess, 2 Disney, 2 Carnival and 1 Royal. Disney is by far the best but a lot more money. Princess was good and had the best food. We really enjoy carnival for a cheap trip. Royal was aweful on so many levels. Not in a hurry to ever go back on Royal. Our next cruise is Norwegian so we will see what we think of them. 1 - Disney 2 - Princess 3- Carnival And last by far Royal.
Sailed on most major cruise lines and prefer RCCL. Need 80 sail days to get Diamond benefits and once you reach Diamond you qualify for Elite benefits on Celebrity and Discoverer benefits on Azamara, cruises are much more enjoyable when you can enjoy these benefits, especially use of the Diamond Lounge. Only need 75 sail days to get Platinum benefits on Carnival but prefer RCCL Diamond benefits.
I've been on 2 ships, both RCCL. I enjoyed both ships, neither was a megaship, but both had plenty to do and we kept active. I cruised twice on one ship. Majesty of the Seas. We did a 4 day and a 3 day. We found the 3 day more crowded and more of a party atmosphere, almost to a fault. My third cruise was a 7 day. I've decided if at all possible, I would continue sailing at least 7 day cruises, especially, since I gave to add air travel into the mix. If I'm going to fly, I want to get as much out of my trip pool as possible. In November, we'll be on the Celebrity Equinox. I know Celebrity and Royal are sister lines so I'm expecting the same, if not better service. It's been 15 years since my last cruise, I know a lot has changed, but I'm looking forward to sharing the cruise experience with my husband. It'll be his first time cruising.
Are you finding your husband isn't as excited as you are about your upcoming cruise? My husband's 1st is coming up. He just isnt "feelin it" like I am. Hopefully, his maiden cruise in December will change his attitude..
@Cynthia Strom I'm not sure what happened to your reply, but to answer your question, my husband isn't as obsessed as I am about the upcoming cruise. He graduates a week before we leave, so he is focused on that. I was beginning to think that he was going just to appease me, but he has made a few comments that makes me believe he is secretly watching videos as well.😀 He even made suggestions for a second cruise.
I've only been on 2 cruises in my life -- Carnival and Princess. First cruise was approx 1989 (Carnival) and second cruise was in 1999 (Princess). BIG difference back then - especially noticeable when it came to shore excursions. Crowd demographics VERY different too. I don't like huge crowds either and so nothing much going on is fine with me!! A kid/teen free cruise would also be up my alley. I think it's great that you vlog on your cruises. Thanks for all you and Jen do to educate us!!
I have tried most of them (NCL, RC, carnival, Princess, Celebrity, Costa) For me, between price, service, facilities and itineraries, NCL and RC come on top. However, the aspect that tips the scale towards RC is land service. NCL customer service is horrible when you compare it to RC. If you happen to go on an NCL cruise and don't require assistance pre and post cruise you'll be OK. But if you have any issues, it can turn quickly into a tremendous waste of time (it's almost like they don't care if you cruise again with them or not). RC on the other hand will bend over backwards to make you happy if you have a problem. If you are the kind of person who gets nervous about potential problems with your vacation, I would say book RC over NCL every time.
So, I have a trip booked with NCL in 2021 which includes the 4 pkg upgrade (unlimited drinks, wifi, air fare...). Are you saying that the airfare portion is a hassle if going through NCL? How are the cabins and the overall climate of the ships?
@@RedAngel0212 The airfare offered by NCL doesn't really cover all the airfare for most travellers, so you better check that up. THIS is the point when you will have to arm yourself with a LOT of patience and talk to them Customer Service (don't be surprised if you end up disappointed). Good luck (and sorry)
Tony, Wonderful video and great discussion item. Disney, Carnival and Princess are the three I have been on with Princess being our favorite. Next cruise will be number 26 in 24 days. We would like to try Holland, MSC and Celebrity in the future. Thanks
Our first cruise was on the Carnival line the Festival. Then we did the premiere cruise line the Oceanic Big Red Boat when our son was younger. Then back to the Carnival line until it became to much of a party atmosphere. Then we went to Norwegian cruise line where we find ourselves enjoying our selves the most. This past January we went on the Disney Line with our grandbabies. It's a tough one to decide which is better.
I want to try a few different ones as well! Booked on the Harmony of the seas next spring. Counting down. Thanks for your information and vlogs. Love you and Jenny! 👍🤗😎
You are absolutely right. How can you choose your best cruise line if you have no comparisons to make? It also of course depends on what type of cruise experience you prefer as there are a few. After cruising a few different cruise lines we have chosen Celebrity for all of our current and future cruises.
I’ve been on Carnival, Norwegian, and Royal Caribbean. I rank them in order of favorites: NCL, RCL, Carnival. I want to sail MSC next, already got my status matched to Gold on MSC
Our first cruise, 1985 on Carnival Tropicale. Since then have been on many cruises, mostly on my favorite, Carnival. Been on Royal Caribbean, Disney, Carnival, Commodore (defunct) and soon to be Princess. We've enjoyed them all. Each has their own charm. Our favorite ship so far has been Carnival Breeze. Can't wait for the new Carnival Panorama out here in CA.
We have been on 3 lines and I agree they are all different yet fun and exciting, pros and cons to each one. Also people have different cruise personalities and we look for a good deal that fits our schedule of when we can cruise
Two cruises: Costa - never again and made me swear off cruising for 20+ years - very average food, poor amenities Carnival - Surprisingly good food, great service, frat-like entertainment We travel 10-12 weeks per year but due to the cost, only one week is a cruise. Ceuises are generally my MOST expensive method of travel as there are so many costs that need to be factored in.
I started with princess with the ruby and carribean. I was 25 at my first time and had such a great time. Whoever said princess is boring is not correct. I have only been on RC for comparison. I liked both cruises.
New to cruising. We've tried Royal Caribbean, Carnival, MSC, Princess, and Norwegian. We can't choose a favorite yet. We haven't yet tried Celebrity or Holland. We're also looking at some European cruise lines Emma uses. We have managed to climb the loyalty ladder on a few lines and those perks are enticing.
Hi Tony. On the Serenade of the seas now. First time with Royal. Been on three NCL cruises. So far very unimpressed with Royal. Rooms are much better with NCL. We walked out of Giovanni's the food was so bad. They totally messed up our shore excursions. Also way more activities on NCL. I don't think we will cruise on Royal again.
love your show...so informative have done 28 cruises so far....mostly with RC....we are Diamond plus & a member of their club royale gambling. they try to make it so you don't want to try anyone else. we LOVE celebrity...but RC prices usually win out. I agree with you Tony...people need to try a couple to see what suits them
I enjoy going on cruises to relax, have fun and just do what I want to do. I love Carnival because I love to dance, I loved Celebrity Edge Soo Much because it was sophisticated, our cabin was breathtaking!!! The food was "Amazing"!!! Princess Cruise was ok. It was an older ship. Norwegian 🛳 was really nice. I guess I like the newer ships. The excursions don't really matter to me when you have seen the same thing twice.
Have cruised on two. First cruise was Carnival which was a great cruise, it did make us want to cruise again. Second cruise was on Princess based on where it was going (Panama Canal) and we have cruised Princess ever since. We do seem to like Princess since we have been on 13 of them now.
I have one cruise on Princess down, and two more on the books before Feb next year. I have been very happy with them so far: discounts, perks, free things, etc. As soon as I finish paying off my last one next month, I want to seriously look at the Harmony group cruise to try RCCL...
I just finished my first cruise ever and I chose Princess to Alaska and that too the Royal Princess, it was great, love the experience, that said I want to try other cruise lines too in the future.
I've been on 3 different cruise ships and loved them all. 1 Princee to Mexico short cruise, 2 my first cruise out of the country that was RC cruise ship in Shanghai to Japan (people did have alot of complaints but I had none I loved it), 3 was my second time out of the country MSC Megaviglia in Rome 7 days around Europe Mediterranean ( but I was iffy at first because alot people gave it a bad reviews but I decided to go anyway and loved it) so Tony your right you do have to see for your self. I'm even going back on MSC cruise ship for 2020 to Greece.
Disney WILL SPOIL YOU! We love Disney Cruise Line! Too many people assume its all about the kids. Yes they offer a lot for kids, but the adult only areas and activities are fabulous! When we cruised with our 3 kids last year, they spent most of the time in the kids clubs. So hubby and I had lots of free time. It was great! And when you dock at their private island, Castaway Cay, the kids club moves onto the island too. So the parents can head to Serenity beach(adults only) for a relaxing afternoon. Their customer service is top notch, the ships are immaculately clean, and the shows are amazing! Its a perfect choice for our family.
Amanda Carroll we were always scared away by everyone saying the price was so much, but it’s honestly not that much more than what a balcony room is at CC. We are going to do a Marvel day at sea cruise.
We've only done 2 cruises, both RC. We definitely are loyal to RC. However, being fairly new to cruising the curiosity of another cruise line is strong, but which one has been the big question. After watching all of your vlogs and vlogs of other cruisers, I believe Celebrity is going to be our first non RC cruise.
I went on my first cruise with Carnival Victory in May this year. The ship was older, but I fell in love with cruising! Now, I'm trying the Adventure of the Seas with Royal in November this year! I'd like to try Norwegian next May! ❤
We did royal and now we're doing carnival. I wanted to switch it up for port and scheduling options. We primarily went on royal because of cococay. Royal doesn't go to ochos rios so we went with carnival
Great advice. We tried Carnival, NCL, Princess, Celebrity, Royal Carribean. We have not been on the jumbo ships with lots of bells and whistles. Food, entertainment, ship layout (Does it focus to the sea of an interior mall like look?) areall to be considered. Are there enrichment or cultural experiences in board? How long is the cruise and what is the ratio of sea to port days? Does the ship overnight in a port you want to spend more time visiting? Is it a repositioning or closed loop cruise? What is the home port and what ports of call? We think about all of these things.
We discovered the room was not important to us as we spend little time there. We enjoy relaxing and are interested in enrichment activities. We do not drink so the cruises that are shorter and known as party cruises are not appealing. We feel most rested on longer cruises and like repositioning cruises. We like sea days and watching the water or scenery more than port days which seem rushed. In port we often explore on our own. For us Princess has won our loyalty. Celebrity would be a close second with NCL coming in third. We appreciate the more classic cruising experience and have avoided the jumbo ships.
I did 8 Carnival cruises. This year did a Royal Caribbean and booked another RCI for 2020. There is a difference. Carnival is all about partying (not that there is anything wrong with it). The people on Carnival were very friendly. The RCI
My 1st cruise was on the defunct Premier Cruise Lines in the mid-1980's. I started cruising again in 2014 and my wife and I started with Carnival. We alternated between cruising with Carnival and Royal Caribbean since December 2015. Why? It is always nice to experience something different, especially the decor and ship layout.
ckbcustomshop That is awesome! Mine was 1986 on the Star/Ship Oceanic to the Bahamas. It was very small cruise ship by today’s standards (40K tons). Did you sail that ship or the Atlantic?
@@TheRiverPirate13 - I honestly don't remember which ship it was. I know it was either a 3 or 4 night jaunt to the Bahamas and there were Disney characters on board.
My first cruise ever was February 2017. In 4 days I will be on a B2B for 14 days. It will be my 7th and 8th cruise with number 9 booked for March 2020. Loyal to Royal from day one.
Been on Holland America, Princess, and Celebrity. Princess and Celebrity are pretty much tied for me. Have been on both more than once. Found the experience to be one I quite liked on both. Though I certainly have my preferences when it comes to ships especially with Princess loved Emerald. Did not like the layout of Coral. Have not been on the newer princess ships. Am looking at either a European River Cruise or Norwegian Fjord Cruise for next year. Either of these will be a different experience for me as I have not done a river cruise and the route I like best for the fjords is on a line I have not cruised on yet.
Agree. We tried RC, HA, NCL and Celebrity. Celebrity is our favorite overall and RC was my least favorite. Princess is up next for us. Although RC is at the bottom of my list, it does have the best internet of the group. Really like the Haven on NCL. HA had the friendliest staff. Celebrity ships take the top spot for best food, ship design and their live music programs. Best cafe goes to HA with Celebrity in second spot. Best cabin for me so far is a tie between the Haven on NCL and the sky suites on Celebrity.
I like RCCL my primary cruise line, Carnival is fun and budget friendly for group cruises. I will in the future book NCL and MSC to honestly provide a comparison. Happy Cruisin 🚢
I haven't been on a cruise, but I'm positive I'll love it and it's something I want to do. I live 45 minutes from the port of Galveston. Carnival and royal leave out of it (Disney too, but I don't want to cruise with kids and the $$$ is a bit much). Thinking about loyalty, I have planned 2 cruises, one on car in Feb and one on RC in Nov, to see which vibe I prefer. I figured that would be a good starting point. :) I'll build a little loyalty with the one I prefer. As I venture to other ports and ships my view might change, but it will be fun finding out!
@@raphsky yes, kids are everywhere but with Disney I assume there will be a bit more. Or that is my logic anyway. 😉 Ironically, I am a huge Disney fan, have a 9 year old, and would no doubt enjoy myself, but I am starting small with hubby. :) limiting myself provides focus.
@@pvillelde you are right. But I have taken two Disney cruises with no kids and 2 with kids and I have enjoyed both. The adult areas are fantastic. No matter what you go with as long as you are cruising will be amazing.
I have only been on one cruise so far and it was with Carnival. We had a great time but I do want to go on some of the other cruise lines at some point.
So agree with you! Im all into trying different lines/ship. Ive been on Royal, Princess and NCL. MSC is our next cruise. Is it weird that i have not tried Carnival??? 🤪. Ive done 10+ cruises and also have never repeated a ship!
I have only been on one cruise and loved it. I want to try other line but when I start looking I know way we did it the way we did. It’s not cheap with other lines. Will you do a video talking about what you get with each line and what it cost and around about way
I've been on two Cruise Lines. Most of which were on Carnival. I have two more booked on Carnival. I think I might try Norwegian or Royal after these next two cruises on Carnival. I like how Noregian comes with alot of perks for booking balcony cabins.
I am all for trying new lines, I have only been on 7 so far. have one planned for next year on a new one for me NCL. I have been on Carnival, Holland and Princess so far. Open to others too!
We have tried Royal Caribbean, Holland American, and Princess. Royal Caribbean is our go to, mainly because we are Diamond Plus members and the perks are too good to give up. I wish they would have some new itineraries, because we have been to the islands in the Caribbean many times, Canada and New England many times, and would like to go to Turks and Caicos with Royal Caribbean, but I don’t know that they go there.
Norwegian, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Princess, and Carnival. I do not want to rate Carnival yet as I was on an older ship, the Elation, and compared to all the others the ship did not measure up, but since the others were higher class ships going in, it would not be fair to compare the Elation to them. Of the remaining lines I'd say Celebrity and Princess tie for first with NCL and Royal tire for second, but I'd sail any of them again! I just love cruising and can find enough to suit me on any of them. I do prefer a bit more reserved experience than Carnival seems to Providence, so my expectation is that it will be in third place after I go on a higher starter rated ship. Having said all of that, my next trip is on the Royal Caribbean Majesty of the Seas. This will be my third cruise on a Royal ship, so other factors weigh in to which line I sail other than how well i like the line, like port, schedule, price, destination. I will likely not sail another 3.5 star Carnival ship after the Elation, so Carnival, bring another ship to Jacksonville, FL.
So far 5 cruises and all P&O Australia, as I live in NZ where there are no home ports but P&O base a ship in Auckland NZ for a few months a year so we have boarded a few here and have flown to Sydney Australia for 2. We have 3 booked next year out of Auckland, two on P&O and one on Explorer Dream. Not having to add the costs of airport parking, flights for my daughter and I, transfers from airport in Australia, accomodation for the night before makes a massive difference and means we can cruise more if we can board in Auckland which is just 2 bus rides from home (45 min drive by car).
I’ve been on 5 cruise lines. Princess, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, Carnival and Celebrity. My least favorite was Princess. My favorite is Celebrity. Would love to do a Disney cruise. I think that if it’s in your budget it’s good to try different lines and different ships within the line.
You raise a lot of good points, Tony. I agree try more than one. I’ve been on 3 cruises and 3 different lines. I would have to say that there was a different reason for each cruise. I think you have to find the lines that best fits you wants and needs. There’s a balance you have to find between the cruising experience offered and what you’re willing to pay. My first cruise was with celebrity and it was a wonderful experience. As I recall I just loved the experience of being on a ship at sea, so I don’t I think I was very critical as I was in awe of the whole experience, although I do recall the service and food was great. The next two cruises were with Carnival and Norwegian both of which were very good. From a fit perspective I think Norwegian is a better fit for us as we like the less formal freestyle dining although formal nights are getting less formal these days so we’re open to other lines. With all the ships being built I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the larger lines. Factors to consider are itinerary, if you are taking kids with you or are travelling as a couple, has the ship been refurbished recently, size of ship, and amenities they offer. Ultimately the decision comes down to “what’s the experience you’re looking for and which line and ship best fits that experience”. You may find over time your requirements change. There is always a ship and a line that will fulfill that need but it may or may not be the same line each time you cruise.
I loved the interior beauty of the MSC ships we sailed on butted gated the MDR experience of sitting with non English speaking guests and we hated the food choices. We loved sailing on the Norwegian Bliss because of the ship layout with the huge observation area at the front of the ship. We loved the specialty dining choices on NCL and the opportunity of choosing 3 separate perks with our balcony booking. But we didn't like that the casino gave us NO perks with the points we earned in the casino. We loved the entertainment on the Bliss. We have sailed carnival 3 times now mai ll because of the great deal we get from the casino! We also get nice little perks from the casino based on our point play while sailing...cookies, wine, money, chocolate covered strawberries. But the buffet is a bit lacking. And the Main Dining Room is better than the buffet, but not 5 star every night. The entertainment is ok but nothing like NCL. We are also not impressed by the demeanor/manners of the cruisers on Carnival. I guess on my perfect cruise, NCL would have Swaroski crystals in the atrium stairway, the casino would send me surprises and I'd be able to eat fabulous meals before seeing Broadway like performances! Lol
We've sailed on Carnival and Celebrity but the Carnival cruise was a decade ago so a comparison would be unfair. I do remember having a lot of fun on Carnival, though. Our Celebrity cruises have been in the past year and we're schedule to cruise with them again in March 2020. We are sailing with NCL for the 1st time next month...excited to try the "free at sea" perks. Only thing I've noticed at this point is that there wasn't as big a variety of ship-booked excursions with NCL as opposed to Celebrity. It may only reflect the particular ports we're visiting to be fair.
it depends on what type of vacation i need. If i want a fun, vacation i always book carnival, if i need to get away and need a more relaxing vacation i cruise NCL, of course i like the freestyle, and the variety of specialty places to eat dinner. I also cruise a chartered music cruise every year, this is my favorite. i have been on NCL, carnival, Royal and holland american *only once. I think i will probably cruise Virgin Voyage in the near future and celebrity, i like variety. some people cruise the same line, it just depends on the individual. NCL caters to the solo traveler,, carnival is more for families, i haven't done MSC yet, maybe in the future, i will see anyhow, keep up the great videos
We have been on Carnival the most, simply because of budget and they are the first we tried. However since then we have also been on NCL and Princess, there are definitely certain things I liked about all 3 of them. In the future we hope to try Royal and MSC😊❤⚓🛳
I've been on 5 different cruise lines (20+ cruises) and different ships. My favorites are Royal Caribbean (11 cruises) and Disney (7 cruises). With Royal Caribbean the different class ships have a different feel. Although Disney is great you pay a lot more. Sometimes double what you pay on a similar cruise on Royal Caribbean.
Great points. I think your taste for cruise lines change as you get older. What I liked at 18 is different now that I’m older. Everything changes overtime , and it’s good to try new things. Maybe you’ll find something you actually like better.
Thanks for an honest commentary on this aspect of cruising. I’ve been on mostly HAL and Celebrity with an occasional Norwegian and 1 Carnival. Liked them all for various reasons (Carnival was meh) but you don’t know til you try!
We started with a 4 night Disney cruise in 2009. We really loved it and looking back we missed so much on that ship that we did not experience. Then there was a 4 year gap. I would go every August for my birthday to Laughlin and drag my hubby with me who really, really did not like gambling or the environment. So, we talked about what we could do instead that we both could like. I said that we really enjoyed our cruise and did not want to get off the ship. So, I started looking into other cruise lines. Hubby was dead set against Carnival so we have not experienced it. So, after searching for our main criteria which was to a turn around port in LA. We live in Arizona. This is where we started our loyalty cruising...with Princess. We have done 7 with them and have 2 more in the future. Lately (after watching your and other cruise vloggers) am looking to try something else. Our main criteria is embark and disembark close to home. Some of the cruise lines do not do that. They are like one way. So, I am still looking and we are discussing what cruise line we would like to try. Thanks Tony and sorry this is so long winded.
I don't have loyalty to any ship and have been on several different ones. We do not like the big ships being in our 70s we don't want climbing walls ect. We are going on P and O Ventura tomorrow and am looking forward to it. Excited.
I have been on NCL and Carnival and I’m trying a new CruiseLine this October and also a new itinerary. I’m trying out Royal Caribbean Anthem of the Seas and cruising the Canada/ New England itinerary. I have enjoyed both Carnival and NCL ships and itineraries so far but I’m looking forward to a new experience with Royal.
Norwegian been on the epic 2 times my dad and step mum took on my first cruise for my 21st they have done 13 ncl cruise and one carnival cruise where booked on the ncl joy next month. My dad and step mum is platinum cruisers ( loyalty rewards) i get to share thir benefits on embarkation they get to skip the long lines at check in and security.
I have only been on NCL (16 voyages) because I like "Freestyle Cruising" - no formal nights and eat when and where you want, etc. Its been a relaxed atmosphere. But now it appears to me that NCL is aiming for a younger clientele with giving large portions of the ship to laser tag and go-karts, etc. And unlimited alcohol is bringing another type of cruiser, that just isn't me. In 2 more months, I'll be sailing with Holland America Line and in 9 months, I'll be on the Caribbean Princess going to Greenland. My main interest has always be itineraries... not alcohol and entertainment. Eventually, I'll probably move to Viking that caters to the older cruiser who prefer relaxation and naps to energetic carnivals... :-) Thanks, Tony!!!
We have cruised on Royal Caribbean, Carnival, Princess, Holland America and Seabourn and the experience is the same. All have had great crew, lovely ships, interesting ports and reasonable prices. Recently on our 4th HAL cruise the food was subpar and the bed was so uncomfortable we had to add egg crate. We are retired and love cruising. Linda & Harold
I do agree that everyone should try at least 2 cruise lines. So far, we've only been on Royal (3 so far) and we plan to keep it up for at least 2 more or until we get to Diamond standing. Then we can take that level over to Celebrity and get some of the same perks. I also think we'd like to try NCL and I am really curious about the Carnival Horizon
At times it seems as though Holland America is seen as some kind of red-headed stepchild...lol. They rarely get a mention on popular cruise blogs. Maybe it's because they don't do Caribbean itineraries in the summer, I don't know. Having said that, I understand folks cruise looking for different things and tastes vary from person to person (or family to family). But for a simple laid-back getaway, it's hard to beat the value HAL provides.
I have been on 4 different cruise lines. I really liked HAL but due to their higher cost and their port locations, my favorite has been Princess to which I now have built up some loyalty rewards. :-)
Gosh I really would like to try a new ship but I’ve been on 9 cruises with Carnival and I’m currently a gold member and almost a platinum member which gets a lot of benefits that I really want. Every time I go onto the Royal Caribbean website my mind automatically goes, “umm you do realize you’re basically 4 cruises away from being platinum right?”. Lol! And then I close the browser and book another carnival ship. I feel like I’ve gone too far with this relationship to start seeing someone new.😂 Sad, but true. Maybe after I achieve platinum I’ll try something else and this way I won’t feel like I’m missing out on “getting to platinum”. I think that will be better for me. 4 more carnival cruises (2 are already booked) and then I’ll try something new. (I have however been on different ships with Carnival from the older Fascination to the newer Horizon and will be going on the Mardi Gras as well)🙂
Like many I have tried different cruise lines. I used to think that they were all just floating buffets with an evening show. After a bit I discovered that Princess seemed to have more of what I wanted and more importantly less of what I did not like. Princess is my line now and I think I am what they want in a customer. Leaving again for Italy and the Baltics in November on Pacific Princess (their small ship). By all means, shop around and try different lines if you can.
Thanks for the tip on MsC matching status! I’m going to look into that. NCL is ok, but it’s not 100% hitting the spot. I’m looking forward to trying some other cruise lines.
we crused on 3 lines so far that 2 day one out of west palm was fun and good val fro the price and yes we will do it again for a quick getaway Carnival is a fun line the food is hit or miss the last one was bad food the first one was good food the enterment was good on all of them so far oue favoret is Priness great food ent. staff all around wonderfull, we want to try MSC next
How is your weight loss going I'm struggling but holding on and diligently I am committed to getting back down to where I originally was It's tough but I felt so much better when I was lighter Keep going Good luck to the two of you You are an inspiration SMILES
Hey Tony, I've been loyal to Royal for the last 13 years. Once I reach Diamond level I plan on trying other lines. MSC because of their program match, and Celebrity also because they are in the same family as Royal and they match
I've tried five and have liked them all. Celebrity being my fav, carnival my least favorite. But they are all fun even Carnival. Carnival has the best value right now...
I want to go on a cruise so bad but I just don't know what ship to go on. Carnival Sunshine seemed to have called out to me from the interior design. The bright yellows on the ship just looks so pretty but I also want to go on a Royal ship.
Make a list of vacation priorities: cost, ports, room decor, shows, food etc. and pick your top three. Then pick your first line based on the top priorities.
So far I have cruised with Holland America and Carnival, soon to give Celebrity a try. 3 Cruises with Holland on separate ships, and 1 cruise on Carnival. Of the two lines Holland America was my clear favorite; though we will see if they hold up to Celebrity on my next cruise. I can totally relate to the loyalty point sting, it was difficult for me to book with Celebrity because of it. One thing I would suggest is keep a look out for good deals on lines you haven't tried. All things being equal stick with your favorite, but when you can get a better deal on something you haven't tried, take that as an opportunity to see what else is available. You never know if that will become your new favorite.
Our first cruise, years ago, was on Premier (Before Disney). 2 yes on RC, and once on Carnival. They were not the big ships then. Now we sail with princess. Fewer people, fewer bells and whistles. Perfect for us, 60+ers with no kids. I think there are different lines for different people. If we were to try a different line, it would be a line with a 'slower' pace like Princess. If I had kids going, I would imagine I'd try RC again. And if I was full of energy to stay up partying, and more active, I might try Carnival again. That said, I agree, people should try different lines.. at least once 🤗
Been on 3 Carnival cruises, 2 were fantastic and 1 was meh (we've learned that we are not fans of 4 day cruises) and will definitely cruise with Carnival again. We are booked with RC for January and are excited to see what they're like.
Remember only Carnival has Guys Burgers. Lol
@Araceli Herrera We currently are liking Royal Caribbean the best because of the Oasis Class ships.
Love, love, love Holland America... Food, service, entertainment, itenary and value for your dollar. Yup, for the more mature cruiser who likes a more elegant and regal cruise.
Just wondering. Have you been on other cruise lines? Other ships?
Good to know, thanks Mike. We are sailing with HAL to Alaska next year and I've heard lots of great things about them. We're really excited to try another (our fourth) line and see some of Alaska and Canada for the first time.
wanted to say i have missed several videos and you can def tell you are thinning down. keep up the great work sr. . great videos
Super loyal - expensive yes but get what you pay for
Exactly! We cruised Disney last year. It was ah-mazing! No complaints whatsoever. The experience makes it worth every cent!
Totally agree. and remember if you book when it is announced you pay lots less. I will become gold after my next one. Cant wait for the "wish" But I have enjoyed Royal lately as well.
I am loving this video because I agree that it's very important to try various types of cruise lines to see the variety in each company.
Nearest cruise port can be a choice criteria. For example Carnival does not Sail out NY too frequently while Royal and NCL do. Driving to a port instead of flying can significantly reduce your travel bill. Also Princess seems to be more present in the Western part of the country.
Thanks Tony. I’ve been waiting for this one! I’ve been loyal to RC. But, have no problem trying other cruise lines.❤️
I've done Royal Caribbean and Carnival. There are advantages and disadvantages to both.
It all depends on what you want from a cruise and your lifestyle.
I want to go on Mardi Gras and Panorama.
I need to do Royal Caribbean I’ve done Disney and Carnival
1 - Disney
2 - Princess
3- Carnival
And last by far Royal.
Great thoughts Tony! We have not been on a cruise we haven't loved yet.
I have tried most of them (NCL, RC, carnival, Princess, Celebrity, Costa)
For me, between price, service, facilities and itineraries, NCL and RC come on top.
Thank you both. I’m going to contact Jenny for help!
I have been on 6 cruises and three different cruise lines. Disney is by far my favorite.
I'm planning a Disney family cruise for 2021.
My kids are 18 and up. We all love cruising Disney. My wife and I are cruising Disney without them. More expensive? Yes! But we love them.
My favorite cruise ever was Copenhagen to Norway. Yes expensive but worth it. We went on Disney’s Wonder.
This makes good sense. We've only cruised Carnival so far and none of the biggest ships. But I'd like to try MSC and RC
Two cruises:
Costa - never again and made me swear off cruising for 20+ years - very average food, poor amenities
Carnival - Surprisingly good food, great service, frat-like entertainment
We travel 10-12 weeks per year but due to the cost, only one week is a cruise.
I agree, Tony. I would never want to limit myself and I feel like if we never try anything different that we are limiting our experience.
I love cruising. I have only cruised on RC and Carnival. So far I love carnival. But I would love to cruise Norwiegn.
We’ve been strongly considering a Disney Cruise lately. Been on two carnival cruises so far, but want something less basic.
@@billrockey5108 The marvel day at see its amazing!!! You are going to enjoy it!!
My first cruise was on a Premier ship in 1990...
ckbcustomshop That is awesome!
Actually, maybe it was the Atlantic!
Believe me when I tell you kids are everywhere not just Disney. but the price I agree is more expensive but the quality of service cant be beat.
My dad and step mum is platinum cruisers ( loyalty rewards) i get to share thir benefits on
embarkation they get to skip the long lines at check in and security.
Timothy Webb I love Holland America
I just found your channel and I am really loving your videos! 🏝❤
we crused on 3 lines so far that 2 day one out of west palm was fun and good val fro the price and yes we will do it again for a quick getaway Carnival is a fun line the food is hit or miss the last one was bad food the first one was good food the enterment was good on all of them so far oue favoret is Priness great food ent. staff all around wonderfull, we want to try MSC next
How is your weight loss going
I'm struggling but holding on and diligently
I am committed to getting back down to where I originally was
It's tough but I felt so much better when I was lighter
Keep going
Good luck to the two of you
You are an inspiration

@@noeinroad7294 That's true. I just have to do some research. 😁
@@Mikayla_Games24 The comments here helped me decide who I'm cruising next!
First cruise, I suggest Carnival. Maybe a shorter 3 or 4 day to see if you actually like the ship and cruising.
@@dukeofkool I've heard many good things about Carnival. I live near Galveston and they have a few Carnival ships.
